I agree with Mia's comments so much. Every time I watch this routine, I get this huge, thick knot of pain right in my chest. Everyone knows what it's like to be betrayed and this spelled out the emotion of it perfectly. Travis Wall is a genius. He always put 110% of himself into his pieces.
Pausing at unbelievable moments, I have found, makes them even more unbelievable and amazing. Like 2:11. God these guys are so amazing. This is such a powerful dance! One of my favorites.

I really love this song and this dance made me think of it today, so I listened to it. I was actually in Neil's shoes about two weeks ago and I said some things very cruel to a friend and he now hates me. I tried to make it right but he didn't care. Oh well. This is so obviously about a gay relationship and not a best friendship. I mean come ON. There was so much emphasis on "two BEST FRIENDS" that it just screamed "CENSORED FOR CONSERVATIVE VOTERS". Nigel asked Travis if he had been stabbed in the back recently and Travis said yes, it was obviously about a relationship that Travis was in with another man. That being said, it was absolutely moving. <3

For those complaining that the show won't let him be openly gay, I don't think he was lying about it being about a friendship. Just read an interview where he says: "I'm not going to go into it too deeply[...] I respect the person that I went through this with. But it was a best friend of mine, a best friend that I really cared about and was close to for two years... and was like my brother in more ways than one."
I remember watching this and thinking... "yes !! America isn't gonna appreciate the implications behind this, and Lauren could move on up where she belongs" ...I also thought Lauren and Ade's routine before this was more challenging and funner to watch.

This routine was released not long after I ended a friendship with a very close friend who stabbed me in the back and just was not a very good person. Kent's dancing through this really helped me get through it, the routine was literally the same thing I was forced to go through (well, apart from the face-stomping) and it is still so hard to watch.
And then I got to meet Kent and tell him that, and his reaction was to say "Did you beat them up like I did? Wait, no, don't beat anyone up!" :P

Everytime Neil stabs Kent in the back I feel the pain as if it's being done to me. Travis is a genius and the combination of these 3 dancers is more than perfection. Absolutely brilliant.
I never forgot this dance it's really all around beautiful; I knew when I saw it that an Emmy Nomination was in the making; it's so amazing to have watched Travis go from under Mia Michael's instruction to making her cry and rendering her speechless. and Of course Kent and Neil are amazing dancers and both have amazing futures.
though, it is a tad annoying that this show never allows homosexuality to be brought up, it could have been a friendship breakup, but it seems too intense for that....

This is probably how it might have went down between Batman and the first Robin, Dick Grayson. Though I don't mean that Bruce stabbed Dick in the back (oh well), it may be more that Bruce didn't want to be upstaged by his own protege - thus the breakdown of a... whatever. :-)
The casting of Neil and Kent in this routine was pure genius. Neil-the more mature, and nurturing mentor... Kent-the "eager to please his master" young apprentice who felt betrayed when he was blossoming into his own.
What we saw on that night was one of a kind. Before this, the show would go to any lengths to make the relationship between two guys in a dance routine appear trivial and irrelevant. But that night, it all changed. We were given a true bond between these two guys, and the emotions were real.
Best friends my ass. We all saw right through their thinly veiled attempt at making this dance appear like anything less than it what it truly was- a break up scene. Is there any question in anyone's mind that Travis' boyfriend stabbed him in the back, and that this dance was borne from that pain? The look in Travis's eyes when Nigel asked if he had been stabbed in the back wasn't something you get from a lost friendship.
Gosh..... "it's a pain in your heart, in your stomach it makes you wanna throw up" well in the end... he tries to make it all be ok.. but.. the other one... just.. walks away... ... hunf..

I've seen this piece on tour, with Robert instead of Neil. And I found it good, but still... it lacks the sparks that the combination Kent-Neil brought. Robert is a very good dancer, but he's a bit slow and not that masculine. Neil was more on Kent's alley, in terms of style. They complement each other perfectly.Their sincronicity is amazing. Besides, Robert doesn't seem to portray the angst that well.
Dear Travis Wall, I have been there more times then I can count in my life. This piece shows me you're heart and soul and in turn my own. Thank you for showing the world this raw part of yourself. :)

This is probably how it might have went down between Batman and the first Robin, Dick Grayson. Though I don't mean that Bruce stabbed Dick in the back (oh well), it may be more that Bruce didn't want to be upstaged by his own protege - thus the breakdown of a... whatever. :-)
The casting of Neil and Kent in this routine was pure genius. Neil-the more mature, and nurturing mentor... Kent-the "eager to please his master" young apprentice who felt betrayed when he was blossoming into his own.

What we saw on that night was one of a kind. Before this, the show would go to any lengths to make the relationship between two guys in a dance routine appear trivial and irrelevant. But that night, it all changed. We were given a true bond between these two guys, and the emotions were real.

Best friends my ass. We all saw right through their thinly veiled attempt at making this dance appear like anything less than it what it truly was- a break up scene. Is there any question in anyone's mind that Travis' boyfriend stabbed him in the back, and that this dance was borne from that pain? The look in Travis's eyes when Nigel asked if he had been stabbed in the back wasn't something you get from a lost friendship.

I've seen this piece on tour, with Robert instead of Neil. And I found it good, but still... it lacks the sparks that the combination Kent-Neil brought. Robert is a very good dancer, but he's a bit slow and not that masculine. Neil was more on Kent's alley, in terms of style. They complement each other perfectly.Their sincronicity is amazing. Besides, Robert doesn't seem to portray the angst that well.
