  • "I don't go around throwing mic stands" lol

  • Wow he's just like Maynard from Tool, hates interviews, all about the music, not himself.

  • @TheLateralusParabol I cannot believe Tapeworm didn't take the fuck off. It just doesn't make sense to me.

  • its an amplification of me and my personality. i dont go around throwing mic stands when im eating dinner at a restaurant.. i love how on top of everything else Trent Reznor does. he also makes me laugh

  • Trent's voice. OMG LOL<3

  • he cut his hair =( in the newest interview

  • @noxbluebutterfly Hes had short hair for a few years now.

  • @noxbluebutterfly if you think it's bad now, you should have seen his hair when he debuted Non Entity at the hurricane Katrina fundraiser concert in '05.

  • Back on point. Trent Reznor is freaking amazing. Who cares what drugs he did or didn't do? The man is a musical genius.

  • I miss Prof. Snape Reznor

  • damn he sounds like corey taylor from slipknot

  • i love the fact that theres really two interviews here if you notice shy distant and not in depth that openess and deep questions

  • poser

  • Heroin wasn't his drug of choice but damn does he seem like a heroin-type.

  • "I'm not going to tell you what it is about, but it's not about that". Lol, that's awesome

  • @kevo795 thanks so much!

  • Im confused, so why was his theme was pigs? And who were the Tates? Or whoever he said?

  • @thetantrum17740 .........The Tates were celebs in L.A that were murdered by Charles Manson Family in 1969, Reznor rented out the home they were murdered in, i think for his studio....he was saying he liked the house, it wasnt a publicity stunt..

  • ME SO HORNAY. Damn Trent

  • what a weird looking dude

  • @James25H what a weird thing to say

  • @James25H Then why are you here?

  • I remember always thinking that Trent was always just a quiet man...

Until I saw this video. He's so smart and charasmatic.

Nobody has a voice like him

  • I always thought Trent looked like Snape, lol. But Trent is still way hotter! haha.

  • @saogurl101 Trent is Snape's hot younger brother, LOL.

  • when he stops touring is when i get into NIN. and i live 15 minutes away from where he spent his childhood too

  • man his voice is so sexy all the time its so deep and hawt ahhaah

  • Why does Trent always look like a badass?

  • I have a love/hate relationship towards how reserved he is. It's been explained that in "piggy" he is referencing a wide range of people in society. I believe (from what my memory tells me) he says he's talking about the general population and the media and such. I need to find that video again. ramble ramble ramble

  • Trent still puts out some kick ass music. The early stuff is his meat and potatoes. If you like video games, electronics, vinyl records, thrash metal, rock, classic rock, movies,DVD music videos check out my channel!

  • Is that Natural Born Killers at the end of the video. It looked like Mickey. which I know NIN had the song "Burn" on the soundtrack to that movie.

  • @KurtsEndorsement Yeah it is, it's from the Burn music video. Pretty kickass, look it up.

  • yeah, what's with the pig obsession on downward spiral?

  • 4:40 "I don't walk around throwing mic stands while I'm eating dinner at restaurants" LMFAO

  • "I'm not going to tell you what it is about, but it's not about that". Lol, that's awesome

  • its snape

  • "I don't walk around throwing mic stands when I'm eating dinner"

    what a smart ass

  • Nothing Beats TDS so far just nothing

my only 5* album on Itunes

All 5* songs except big man and I do not want this

  • little did he know how awesome NIN would grow to become

  • amazzzzzzzzing

  • wait isn't 2:52 from We're in this together, which came out in 2000? but the interview looks like its from 1994

  • @californication1992 i think it was a flashback interview

  • Well obviously the documentary was broadcast a second time, after The Fragile was released.

  • Downward Spiral is one of my favorite albums..I think Trent's a genius at what he does, maybe more so back in the 90's

  • NIN, The MAXX, the uknown internet, Grunge, Industrial, Serial Killer Movies. The 90s were an incredible time of creativity.

  • @TheFaustianMan wow, i think the same thing. Aeon Flux, the unknown internet, NiN. i was like 8 or 9 during this time and i really liked NIN then, and still do. as a child u think "Whoa, who are these guys" because trent to me back then was like this reaaally reaally mysterious dude who wore black and just seemed dark and created HEAD LIKE A HOLE, i knew guitar work and piano but hearing his music was like "How does someone make music like this?" now im older and always leaned into a Synthesizer

  • He looks FRESH!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Lee died in 1993 sweetie. You're thinking about when The Crow came out.

  • I met him around this time.

  • How was he?

  • @kenodobi very shy. I think he was more nervous of the fans that we were to meet him. He was kind enough to give me an autograph and I got some pictures.

  • hes certainly got his regrets. hes changed heaps over the years. way more mature now.

  • -.- what are u fuckin stupid

  • this was in 94? i swear i saw a clip "we're in this together" from 99.

  • Comment removed

  • And The Perfect Drug too :s

  • you know years ago, i prayed for love, and then our god trent, released the downward sprial, and ever since then, ive been a strict follower of NIN haha, incredible man, incredible legacy, we love you Michael Trent Reznor!

  • Guys, guys, Trent doesn't even have to run for president or god.

    He just IS.

  • I was one when TDS came out!

  • really? want to go out?

  • I don't think so. Sorry.

  • And I thought I was alone!

  • Hahaha saame

  • I know that feeling!

When PHM came out in 89 , I was fucking ONE years old!!! XD

  • same here :/

  • Trent Reznor is already god.

  • he looks alittle bit like owen wilson with black hair lol.but he is great.

  • LOL!!! YES!!! I've been saying that for YEARS! And I've been a fan since the PHM days. lol!!

  • haha I always though he looked like Luke Wilson more!

  • Trent Reznor for President

  • When I met Trent In Newport KY, The Band Was Nine and 1/2 inch Nails. The had a 1st record/Demo going out to Phils Record bar and he was in a battle of the bands and was not the winner. We drank with him and had our Pics taken throught out the night it was so cool to know him then and not aware he was going to be Famous.

  • really? your messing with me...nine and a half inch nails?... please tell me if your joking...do you have that demo?...*shows NIN tatto*

  • Nope no joke, He was very thin, very shy and a big drinker!!!

  • trents so inspiring i'd love to meet him,

anyway if anyone has that demo or the album of option 30 PLEASE sned a link or post it on youtube, people need to know that nin is the only band i've ever heard that never sold out against what they stand for so it'd be cool =D!

i'm trying to learn the only time on keyboard so any help there is also welcome

  • thank you so much for posting this :)

  • I like the point he made about trying to shift the curve of music instead of sitting back and bitching about it. I think both Trent Reznor and Marilyn Manson do well in interviews. I really like the way they think.

  • You can really see how he doesn't like interviews, and how he refuses to go into the specifics of what his albums are about, and particular songs (ie, March of the Pigs) He just seems to be a really introveted and shy guy... Fantastic Musician, but without any of the celebrity status, which is reassuring :)

  • lol i like the splicing of natural born killers at the end

  • 94??

  • this was around 19--?

  • 94!!

  • Was this video edited or is this exactly what it looked like when it was released?

  • Reznor never did heroin; he was a cocaine addict. It remains a thought provoking lyric, however, even more so because he never abused heroin.

  • yea exactly

  • @mikethelyon he overdosed on heroin in london, u cant always believe what he himself has said. remember no one wants to be viewed as a junkie

  • @mikethelyon yes he did do heroin and did OD on it during the fragile tour! Go google it, he's openingly talked about it in several interviews.

  • @mikethelyon The lyric doesn't specify heroin in the needle. Lot's of things can be shot...

  • @mikethelyon Reznor actually said that he did do heroin once in his '94 Rolling Stone cover story. You can read it in their archives.

He also overdosed on it in '99 in London.

  • @mikethelyon Listen to the song suck the lyrics go "runs up my arm til im on track, itches the skin right off my back" reffering to heroin if you know anything about heroin

  • @StickyInADarkBlueCut Suck was originally written and preformed by Pigface, which was lead by Martin Atkins. Where it did feature Trent, Pigface was not Trent Reznor the way that NiN is Trent Reznor. So, where this may be reffering to heroin it doesn't mean that it was a personal experience of Trent's. It could have been a personal experience of anyone from Pigface since there were 4 people working together to created their songs.

  • @mikethelyon Actually he overdosed on heroin during one of his tours and a show had to be cancelled

  • @mikethelyon I don't know if he was addicted to heroin, I thought he was, but he DID have a near-fatal overdose in London.

  • Geez, I love Trent so much as an Idol of mine.

  • Johnny Cash covered 'Hurt'.

  • Why do so many people either not know who originally wrote hurt, or think that Johnny Cash wrote it? The Downward Spiral has sold some 4 or 5 million copies, I'm amazed at how many people don't know this.

  • i think cuz usually younger artists cover older ones, not the other way around

  • Because Johnny Cash fans probably consider NIN to be too distasteful for anything Cash to be involved with. NIN was fairly gothic and had a lot of shock value at the time. It's a weird mix, but I don't have illusions about it.

starsweet4 makes a valid point, too. It is unusual. He also happens to be legendary, he doesn't just cover a song, he takes ownership of the song. That's how a lot of his fans see it as I've seen them discredit NIN even though they were fully aware NIN wrote it.

  • @Ryan9145X stupidity? Ignorance?

  • @Ryan9145X well 5 million people who bought the downward spiral but there are about 100 million youtube users :P

  • Def earned it

  • trent really seemed to change in my opinion for the better as a person, i like his new music however i think his older music is much better, does anyone know the significance of him singing about pigs since he doesnt say

  • It;s been said that the "pig" could possibly stand for authority

  • i think he is talking about just authority in general or even political and the music how it is changing into crap! listen to his new shit it can be pretty anti bush

  • His voice is so...deep..? He is so cute =D

  • lol he does sort of resemble snape..but keep in mind..trent was first...so snape copied Trents chiseled good looks :]

  • he looks like Snape from Harry Potter... I feel like an ass saying that but he did back then...

  • When Harry Potter first came out right next to the release of the fragile, a lot of other people were saying that too. There were tons of joke pics of Trent/Snape floating around.

Anyone who gave you a thumbs down is a nub.

  • he's sexy. xD

  • i love. trents speaking voice.

  • oh so do i could listen to it all day! love the accent too!

  • hehehe.

  • Lots of singers do, especially the artistic ones who let all their emotion out through music...

  • most singers injure their throats, it would suprise me if he had, sepcially with screaming, the montone is quite comfortable for a voice, i find tht even afetr playing one show my voice is sore for hours after, i cant imgaine what it's like for heavier vocalists

  • if ur voice hurts after u sing for a show you shouldnt be singing or you should take voice lessons cause you are doing something wrong im not saying this to piss you off or troll you im being dead serious some may but most guys that scream alot or have intense vocals dont have sore throats because of it if you do you are doing something wrong

  • yeah, i'm not a singer by trade but everyone i play with, and myself are multi instrumental, so lots of swapping occurs, and if the music was lighter then i'd be fine, but i don't have much in the screaming range, it's like my voice goes fine up til the point it needs agression than, *pow* the voice stops and i have to go to part of my throat where it's less confortable. also why are people thumbing that down. dude was offering a peice of legitimate advice.

  • i really was being completely serious if your singing and it hurts your throat you need to change something or you could permanently damage your vocal chords thx for taking it as the advice that it was and not a troll msg

  • Oh I'm so overwhelmed by my emotions...

  • does his voice (when hes talking not singing) remind you of corey from slipkont? or just me...

any way this guy is go

    love him

  • I think Trent's is a bit higher pitched and more nasal

  • yea i see what you mean... but its got that cool laid bac, slightly lazy sound about it that is so awesome

  • the guy interviewing him is Kim Clarke Champniss.. back when Muchmusic actually had insightful music journalism.

  • Trent- genius!!! love him....

  • He didn't know that was the house when he bought it. Someone told him after he bought it and I think it was the neighbors (I'm not sure on that one).

  • yeeeah. not totally sure i believe him on that one.

    still. :3

  • Trent reminds me of zoolander

  • HAHAHA!!!! That's great!

  • i miss trent with long hair

  • Me too.

  • thx 4 this, love it.

  • Is this from like a series of interviews? Because I noticed during the interview, it showed a clip form We're In This Together Music video

  • pig imagery was around long before Pink Floyd and has been expressed by many artists completely independent of Floyd (George Orwell for one, Black Sabbath for another). I think you're way off base there. Way off.

  • Why won't he tell us what his song's about???

  • Because he doesn't want to ruin the individual interpretations of the song. Many songs mean different things to different people (March of the Pigs is a good example), and he doesn't want any fans to feel they're wrong about what it means to them.

  • EXACTLY.

  • how old was he in thedownwardspiral era?

  • something about 29 I suppose

  • thanks man

  • you're welcome ;)

  • he changed his music cuz he sobered up.

  • he should respect other people's work even if they are shit. he kinda seems full of himself.

  • have ne1 one heard ghosts 1-4. i am addicted to that song

  • this interview kinda gives me a differnt look at The Slip, like you know he's not just doing it cause hes clean, or changing with the music, maybe hes just trying to explore somethin' new like he did with Ghosts

  • he's a beautiful man

  • he stopped cussing every other word on the new albums. this is why fans are divided now. isnt it?

  • i think the Broken album was the fucking shit..

  • indeed. all in all. with all trent's albums he has yet to let me down. that makes me soo happy.

  • The new stuff is so much better than The Fragile and With Teeth. TDS is one of my favorites, but The Slip and Year Zero. It is different, but reznor never makes new stuff that doesnt sound new. Its just not who he is.

  • i like all his songs!

  • PETRIFICUS TOTALUS!

Call me a fag, but he reminds me of Snape. :0

  • Maybe that's why I think Snape is hot. heehee

  • true.

  • I'm not the only one!!!!! LOL First time I saw Snape, I had this huge "OMFG, Trent!!! As a dark, mysterious school teacher..." *dies* LOL

  • Nooo, Reznor really looks very good in this video. And everywhere...:) i like his hair when it's halflong, like here.

  • Does it make me gay if I think Trent looks really good in this video?

  • I have the same question as well.

  • No it doesn't.

  • maybe.

  • LMAO did anyone else see trent trip over his boot at 1:31 hahahahahhhh

  • Much music existed in the early 90s???

  • After watching all these interviews on YouTube, I have to say, I really like how down-to-earth Trent is about what he does. The fame and things like that don't get to him; it's really all about the fans and the music. He's a rare person, and a very talented one at that.

  • he's smart.

  • It couldn't be form 1994 if it shows footage from the "We're In This Together Now" video, because that video is from 1999.
