much love ian, john, mani, reni! YOU GAVE US A REASON TO DANCE, TAKE DRUGS , BE HAPPY, AND FUCKIN LOVE MADCHESTER. "MAD FOR IT" GOOD TIMES GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTON. PEACE ALL
The thing about the Roses for me is that thier songs have clear structured centres but always manage to sound improvisational. What a rarified level of musicianship, i'm not the sentimental type and i would always pay homage to the greats but i can't find a band that play with the feel and dexterity of the roses, this track showcases that for me. Psuedo-intellectual posing aside this is Foookin Brilliant!
Never mind comparing the Roses with these and those. These lads created something very special and will never be forgotten by those who followed them. Simple as...
from wiki: "Historian and philosopher David Hume, in his history of England, recounts how during early in the reign of Henry III the English Navy destroyed an invading French fleet, by blinding the enemy fleet with "quicklime," the old name for calcium oxide:
This is one of several songs from the stone roses that are still f*cking fantastic; as good as the day they were released, like made of stone, waterfall, bye bye badman, I am the resurection and so on. I cant say they are as good as the Beatles but boy, are they in the general neighborhood! So much of their work have stood the test of time, the hardest test of all. Thank god for the stone roses!

The fuss about the Beatles is that they completely changed music and have influenced every rock band to form since the early 60's. A lot more than what can be said about the Stone Roses.
Are you Stone Roses fans really that dense to give this moron I'm responding to 3 thumbs up, and the guy that seems to actually know something about music -1? Wowza you guys are slow.
And the Stone Roses have influenced many, bands since 1989, just as the Beatles did from the early 60s, Both bands have their place in music history. If you don't like them, fine. No-one cares.
HERE M8 IF THERE WAS NO ELVIS THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN NO BEATLES, MEANING NO STONE ROSES MEANING NO OASIS AND ALL THESE AMAZING BANDS john lennon said he was inspried from elvis to write songs so he did which inspired others, going on to get the roses which inspired Oasis....see so elvis probably was bigger than all of them even if the yankee twat neva wrote his own songs but with out them we wouldnt have the music we have today...and i prefer oasis, beatles, roses etc to elvis
elvis is "only" a great. the beatles were in every way better than him. just because someone likes a band/artist doesnt mean they owe their career to that particular guy. Lennon + McCartney were still the songwriters with some of the other great works of George and Ringo
'I've seen your severed head at a banquet for the dead'. I can just imagine some heavy metal band singing that with fury and venom but The Stone Roses were not predictable- they still sung it with sweetness.
Okay I made a mistake there. I meant, not being old enough to go see them when they were together. Too busy listening to the song and not concentrating on what I was typing!

"Beatles are bigger Than Elvis" what the fuck you trying to say???:D Elvis is 10x bigger than Beatles,Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin together. there can be only one king...
Ha..That's funny. Elvis didn't even write his own songs. You can't put him in the same league with The Beatles or the Rolling Stones. Elvis belongs in little league with Britney Spears. He is no different than the wannabes who sing kareoke on American Idol. The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Zeppelin, and Bob Dylan are true artists who express themselves through the words and melodies that THEY WRITE THEMSELVES!! Elvis just sang what he was told to sing...and that's it!!
sad that every people who dont like Elvis have to always say those words "elvis didnt even write his own songs...". Tell me if you know why the hell Elvis cd's/lp's/cassettes are sell over 2 billion pieces.
It has nothing to do with not liking Elvis. You just cannot compare him with The Beatles or Rolling Stones because writing songs is the ultimate art of music. Anything else is just glorified kareoke.
i dont really understand what the fuck are you saying? Elvis -> karaoke:D have you ever heard Elvis album called "50 000 000 million fans cant be wrong". Do you know who was John and Paul's biggest idol... Yes it was Elvis. Everybody who wants to speak true knows that Elvis is forever #1 after Elvis come Beatles. And then its a long long trip to find next important musicians.
I'd reverse that. Beatles #1 and Elvis #2. The Beatles have more #1 hits. The bottom line is, Elvis is a performer and The Beatles were artists. Hopefully the Roses will get back together and do a few more albums.
No reason why not, and they still have all the talent in the world.
Led Zeppelin were together from 68 to 80, Roses from 83 to 95.
Zeppelin only ended with death of Bonham.
No excuse for Roses, as Reni never died, he just walked away.
