An organization has no more ability to issue such edicts than a Hindu consortium would of "declaring cows protected" and illegal to kill. Even the IWC legally acknowledges that nations may disregard their "laws" (look it up!). And the IUCN list is a sliding scale. These whales aren't even endangered by the least degree!

A very powerful clip. Some companies and conservation groups in the US are also moving to boycott Japan products. The US has a population of humpback whales that have been studied since 1975 as individuals with names. We now have three females known to be great grandmothers.
