The Original language that Scripture was written in speaks of no such place. In the old testament there is one word that was mistranslated purposely and that word is Sheol and Sheol means "the Grave" or Pit. In the New Testament there are three words that was purposely mistranslated and they are "Gehenna" ( Vally of Hennom) "Tartarus" (The Place where the four angels are kept under the river Euphrates) , and "Hades" ( Greek equivalent of the Hebrew word Sheol which is the grave).
The doctrine of eternal torment is blasphemy against God and makes a mockery of His judgement. Can the finite suffering of the infinite God be considered the just substitute for the infinite suffering of finite man?
@potooth Jesus taught hell, read the Bible and don't use your foolish statements to try and speak away hell. God's value is infinite, all sin against Him deserves infinite punishment.
@seanpaynedotnet If Jesus was the author of the eternal hell doctrine I would rather burn in hell for eternity knowing I chose not to share the same space with such a wicked tyrant. The fool is one who believes such a satanical doctrine and expects sinners to respond to this message thinking this fictious god you are promoting loves them. The Jesus I know tells me the wages of sin is death not eternal torture. We will all be punished according our works but our end will be ashes.
This is my contention with the eternal hell doctrine. God condemns the unrepentant sinner to a fate he himself is not willing to suffer. Christ endures physical abuse, death and separation from God for a couple days then tells the sinner I did this so you don't have to suffer in hell forever. I'd gladly trade places with Christ. He can suffer in hell forever and I'll take the punishment he received. (cont)
i dont know why any body still does not understand the rich man and lazerus story is a parable , see sozo2 rich man and lazerus on my favourites , this hell stuff is not in the bible the early church did not teach it and the jews dont, what sort of message is this ? love , sacrifice or forgivness ? is it the gospel ,the good news which you were told to preach ?
What about Revelation. Do we do away with it to? There is a place for sinners to burn in the lake of fire. HMMM. I'll tell you what lets just do away with what God says and just follow man. Man can't believe in the True and living God. After all God wouldn't destroy places like sodom and gommorha and the surrounding citys after all He loves everyone. hogwash. There is a hell and the rich man was begging God for just one drop of water. God told them to believe moses and the prophets. Hell is real
have you watched the video lazerus and the rich man on my favourites , its time for Christians to understand Jesus said these parables only some would understand , only those with the right heart , this parable is NOT literal , and the lake of fire is not literal , the whole book is symbolic , you want to hope its not real fire and is the holy spirit as
its the last in a series of parables and since when do you go to Abraham's bosom ,and why all the details the type of clothing and the 5 brothers, the only the dogs giving comfort ,watch lazarus and the rich man on my favourites and grow up
In the KJB Jesus does not say it was a parable; it actually happened. Hell is justice for sinners. Until YOU See that you deserve hell; to be tortured forever, you will never see your need for a Saviour.
please , please stop it , watch the video i recommended and see what you think, this hell doctrine is a catholic invention and the early church did not teach it or Judaism, have you thought what an insult this is to God and Christs sacrifice to say it wasn't good enough and now he will torture over 90% forever ?
In this video, Jesus names names. In most (if not all) others, there is name mentioned, only phrases like "a certan man" or " a pharisee", etc. This I have heard indicates that Jesus was talking about specific persons, by name, and that it wasn't his "everyday parable', but an true-to-life example.

@potooth Let me clarify. All unrepentant sinners will be judged according to their works.

Nowhere is it mentioned to be a parable. The sad thing is you do not realize that hell awaits you.
