I have this one (only one outside Worlds Of Wonder's I got new). It's also in its box, and is well made- they even lowered the recommended age from 3 and up to 2 and up.

in kindergarten when my teacher would bring this out i had to sit in the very back of the class because i was absolutely terrified of this creepy bear!

I understand that BackPack Toys have discontinued this version of Teddy Ruxpin, I eventually got one early this year but very carelessly and stupidly damaged it, I've got to find someone local who will be able to reoair the damage. In my opinion the major problem with this version of Teddy Ruxpin was the lack of available software for the toy, there weren't many cartridges available for it.

I see that Teddy Ruxpin to give a brief blub for some of his stories, is this a little internal "demo" that plays when no cartridge is inserted? Do you have any otehr cartridges for the unit?

Teddy did have a cartridge in him at the time. It was "The Airship" cartridge that he came with. I have a few other cartridges for him. I have all of the ones that came out on initial release from the Treasure & Adventure series and the one Music series cartridge.

Cool how easy is it to find the new Teddy Ruxpin toys and cartridges? What happens when you turn the unit on without a cartridge in place? From what Teddy says at the start of the video, it seems as if there are multiple stories per cartridge, is this true? I never owned a TR in all my life, but I wanted one back in 1992, and I'm very intrested in these new ones.

I haven't turned him on without a cartridge in a while. I'll have to test that. There are ordinarily 2 stories per cartridge, but the one he comes with in the box (The Airship) only has one story, plus the little advertisement that's in the video. Treasure & Adventure series have both had 2 cartridges so far, and Music has had 1 (I think). To be honest, I keep him "put up" so I haven't looked at what I have for him in a while.

I've never heard of this toy before, guess its because I grew up with a babar stuffed animal lol. A lot of people seem to be saying hes creepy, but to me he looks very cute. voice is gentle and innocent, not creepy at all.

He's cute! I had one when I was a kid and it brings back sweet memories. Although the one I had as a kid lost both jaws, and both it's eyes rolled back into it's head when I broke it. You could see the eyes though the hole where the mouth used to be. Now that gave me nightmares. lol!

Yeah, my camcorder was broken, so I took this video with my little 4 megapixel digital camera and a LCD camera flash in my daughter's little chair. So he looks creepy and full-size.

Not the whole cartridge is a commercial. It has one full story on it. They just use the second track of the pack-in cartridge as an advertisement.

He was in regular "play" mode- at the end of "The Airship" cartridge (which comes with Teddy) the advertisement for the other cartridges plays. I think it's because each cartridge can hold 2 stories, and "The Airship" is the only story on the cartridge... they wanted to fill up the extra space.

I've been hoping they would make one as good as the first one, looks like this one takes after the yes version from 1998. One motor to control the mouth and eyes, I'll still get one, but I still like the one I have from 1985 better.
