  • One of my favorite Nina Simone songs. Beautiful

  • I love her teeth.........genuine

  • Oh deary me?

  • I like Jewel's version better than NIna's.......Jewel makes it more soulful or something. I especially like Sarah Vaughn's version as well.

  • Good job.

  • I can see what people are saying about Nina having more emotion singing the song, in fact I agree I prefer Nina's version..but to insult Jewel's singing is ridiculous. Jewel is phenomenal as is Nina, its unfair to compare them as they have such different styles and techniques. But I do have to say Nina sounds like a man and Jewel has the bigger range of the two...just a reality check for those people going "OMGZ JEWEL IS SHIT AND HAS D EMOTION OF MY OLD PERSIAN CAT, NINA IZ SO MUCH BETA!"

  • i cant believe some of you are comparing nina to jewel. nina is the shit ok, she is the boss on stage she commands and delivers in presence and charisma, her vocals are amazing, jewel is cold and boring and have as much emotions as my15 year old persian cat.

  • i just have to say that everyone on here who knocked this is either tone deaf or a complete idiot. that was a beautiful portrayel of this wonderful song. bravo jewel. also check out jeff buckleys version it sorta tops em all.

  • its ok. i love jewel but she doesnt have the emotion that nina had when she sang this song. nina put her feeling in everything she did, you felt her before you heard her. jewel hit all the right notes but the feelin wasnt there.

  • play your guitar, love. yeah, it's alright....but nina at town hall shits on this version.

  • beautiful

  • This is the worst she's ever sounded and the worst she's looked. Where is that beauty with the soulful voice?!

  • @iguannamama i pity you. you dont have what it takes to appreciate jewel in every way.

  • @Chickletneyra my friends and I bought Jewel sandwiches and soda to eat between sets when she was a homeless chick doing Ofra Haza covers near the patio area at the Arctic Oasis in Achorage. She (the person, not the persona) is much easier to appreciate if you have actually met her. She, in part, has inspired my current work with homeless people in Michigan. She is not perfect, and this is my least favorite performance by her. Get over it.

  • jewel is just singing it but nina is like she's saying from her heart like its happening to her

  • Jewel does a fab job!

  • respect, but yes it's a bit silly to say that she has a better voice then Nina...all respect to Jewel cause her understanding of music is unique, that's how it needs to be with all of musicians and that's the difference between musicians and artist and that's why Nina Simone was,is and always stay The Nina Simone..

  • I think Jewel sings it better, because she just has a better voice, but I do think Nina Simones version portrays the sense of melancholy this song is rooted in better than this. With Jewels version I feel impressed with her talent (again) but Nina Simones version makes me almost cry.

Now no-one get upset, because I truly love them both. I'm not dissing either of them. Jewel just isn't a sad song singer, but in spite of that she still hits a home run with this.

  • Jewel has a better voice than Nina Simone? Dear oh dear oh dear!

  • Nina's got that sultry quality, but she simply doesn't have the pipes Jewel has. Nor does she have the versatility. Don't get me wrong, what Simone does she does as well as anyone, but put it like this--Jewel can sing Nina Simone songs, but Nina couldn't sing most Jewel songs.

  • I like how, no matter what she is singing, you can always tell it is Jewel. I think she is incredibly talented and love this song. She sings with feeling like all of the greats did. Two thumbs up!

  • miss Ninas version of this song although this is great

  • I like the way she sounds! She stepped out of her comfort zone to sing this. And I think she did a wonderful job. Can't wait for the new Lullaby album!

  • just quite like Nina Simone but still okay

  • I completely agree with you

  • I think this is actually a cover of Jeff Buckley's cover. Hence the ending.

    Not bad.

  • i agree

  • @altimita its a nina simone's cover but i get it why you think it's jeff buckely's coz jeff's version is the best

  • Love this song, but i prefer the jeff buckley cover from Grace ( legacy edition)... first and only take... you can hear him breath... just amazing

  • why are the jewel haters commenting anyway? she does this song perfectly, so if you don't like it watch something else

  • yeah so true...she ruins Nina's song.

  • This was her encore the 1st time I saw her. Lovely!

  • The lyrics of this song are just so powerful in the most honest and sincere way. Love this song!

  • I love how she can change her voice so easily!

    And it sounds so good!

  • Oh, wow. Just. . . wow.
