  • Yo Jimbo or Vancouver Computers or whoever, this video has nothing to do with splicing ethernet cabling. It's simply a lesson on terminating it with an 8P8C connector. And Green in Not ground. And your explanation of a "topology network" makes absolutely no sense. Nice way to make yourselves appear completely clueless.

  • This guy is an idiot ! GREEN IS NOT YOUR GROUNDS !!! Green / White [DATA +] Green [DATA -].

AND... If you are going to TEACH OTHERS HOW TO "CRIMP A CONNECTOR ON A CAT5 cable" !st: DON'T TITLE YOUR VIDEO "Cat5E Ethernet Wire Splicing Demo". STUPID STUPID STUPID !!!

Please use the right tool for the job !!! NOT YOUR TEETH MORON

  • Where is the splicing? I'm looking for information on splicing. This video simply shows how to terminate or crimp an RJ45.

  • @nefariant1

Splicing can refer to mending a cut line, line hacking, or... attaching a jack. I think you had your vocab mixed up Mr Nefariant.

  • philogos0 & Fireblogging - Agreed, this isn't splicing. Change the title, it's misleading.

  • Did he say the data comes in on the orange and goes out on the brown, and the green is ground? That ain't ethernet.

  • Haters gonna hate.

  • This was nice, but it wasn't SPLICING ... that would be joining two cables together!

  • This is terminating a cable, not splicing. And hardly a professional job at that. Sorry.

  • Hmmmmm I never once heard anything about an A or B pinout... I agree Drunkeness!!!!

  • @kaptainkid Its the wire order of the cable, you can have T568A or T568B. If you want to make a cross-over cable for example, one end will be T568A and the other T568B.

  • Splicing would be taking two cables and making one.

  • I am a licensed low voltage electrician and as far as what you showed in the video you seemed drunk...we call guys like you in the field HAX aka: AT@T- comcast

  • OMG He put the cable in his mouth! Is this technique referenced?

  • That is calling terminating a Cat-5e cable with an RJ45 connector. A splice is when you put 2 or more things together. If you wanted to splice 2 Cat-5e cables, you would terminate one of the end of the cable, and terminate an end on the other cable, and then put them together with an RJ45 coupler. Also, when you're terminating Cat-5e cables, you should also get part of the jacket into the connector. That will reduce crosstalk. You should also test the cable with a cable tester.

  • @scottys55 Actually the twists in the strands are for reducing cross-talk, the outer jacket just protects the strands - and the jacket should be crimped into the connector aswell which provides strain relief.

  • @scottys55 you are mostly right scotty, except he uses an 8P8C connector, not RJ45.

  • there's a string in the cable for a reason...

  • Gotta wonder about a guy who says "splice" when he means "score" or "strip."

  • Shocking video guys.

  • your suppost to utilize that white string he says to cut off to safely rip the insulation of the wire. by using your teeth or even worse the blade of your wire cutters you risk severing the very delicate wires. you should cut the sheathing like he shows you how...then pull the the string to cut the insulation (thats why it's there!). Only use the conductors from the point you start and end pulling the string and discard the portion of the conductors your pliers/stripper blade or teeth touched :)

  • Biting wires are dangerous to your health, so it's a bad idea!! xD

  • This isn't about splicing - it is about putting a connector on a cable. Try using the right words for a change.

  • Agreed - these folks have no clue what they are doing.

  • nkay? nkay?

They need a faster way to do this crap.

  • Green isn't ground, that cable doesn't contain ground, The two orange and the two green are up and down traffic depends on what standard your using, the blue are dedicated for voice and the brown do nothing. So what people do with one cat 5 cable is 1 DATA port and 2 Telephone, don't believe me google it.

  • No your wrong. The guy on the video is correct. He said the blue was ground not green. Blue is ground. That is industry standard. Nothing is "dedicated for voice." Thats an applications decision. And the brown is not a "do nothing" either its reference power voltage.

  • god damn... so much talk... just cut the goddamn wire!

  • lol!

  • I could make it real basic if so be..

I can over your head if you wish - peace

  • Thanks that was helpful.

  • "Doohickie"? Is that a technical term? Looks like small gauge wire strippers to me. lambochess is correct: you should have used wire strippers to remove the jacket, or at the least taken less than 30 seconds to do it with the "doohickie". I'm sure your dentist loves the teeth method...

  • rofl

  • should have used a wire striper

  • Topology is a branch of mathematics that is an extension of geometry. It is an old fashion Token, but the people around me understand lay, Topology builds on set theory.

Good call, I am glad that there are people that understand networks - but this was only a baby show.

    Peace allways

  • its called a topology network? and all this time, i though the topology was the term to tescribe the type of network, like token ring.. etc.. not a type itself.

  • What was that color code again???

  • lol

  • W/O O W/G BLUE W/BLUE G W/BROWN BROWN
