Thank y'all so much for your videos. I have learned a lot from them and had a great time so far. I've had a banjo for maybe 20 years, but never learned to play it. That 3 finger thing is just too hard, but this I can do. Thanks again. I'm havin' fun.
Hey guys- I've been playing the bass for 30 years and since I moved to Tennesse I've always wanted to play the banjo- Thanks to you guys, in two days I am already playin- thank you! I am having a blast!
Patrick your videos and books are truly inspiring- I would really love to see a frailing tab of coo coo bird posted up by you-maybe a version in standard G as I know your a fan -best wishes
Patrick. I just wanted to share this with you: for years I've been wanting to learn to play the banjo but in the country I'm from (Costa Rica) that's a weird instrument to play since there's no country, folk or bluegrass music players around that you can find easily. Recently a trend of celtic music started here and My sister formed Istalindar, her own celtic and folk music band. I decided to step in and do something and last december I bought my first banjo ans started looking for a teacher...
... none was to be found. I came here (Youtube) looking for something to get me started and found you amongst several other "online" teachers but from all of what I tried your videos stuck on due to the direct and easy approach and your heartwarming way to teach what you know.
I've been following your teachings and that of Pat Sr. thoroughly and patiently with the 80/20 advice, I got a copy of the How and the Tao and i have to say I'm amazed at how much I could achieve in just a few hours...
... to end this I just want to thank you, from the deepest par in my hear, THANK YOU! Playing the banjo has brought me a happiness I hadn't experienced before and it you and you dear old Dad's doing that has allowed me to learn this much in so little time, Thanks for making this available in the wonderful manner you've made it for all of us newbies. I hope to run into you one day and have a few laughs while we play some music. Thanks and keep it up, you've done a great and wonderful job.
Pat & Patrick these videos are absolutely wonderful I thought I couls knock a tune out on the banjo but you all has given me the impitus to really learn. Thanks a lot!!!
Thei thing I find the hardest is acurately hitting the proper string with my frailing hand. They dont ring as loud nor clear as I want...BTW You book is awesome Patrick!

I've learned to play the melody for almost all the songs I know the melody for, so far, from this video.
