  • @mikecsvu 95% of the time David Walliams is on TV he's doing charity work and raising money, so I fail to see how he can be called a cunt.

  • what are the biscuits like?

  • proud to be yorkshire.....an yorkshire tea is tip top stuff...

  • Oh Mary!!!

  • Yorkshire all the way ;] x

  • £6.00 for a washing line! However long is it?

  • Well normally I'm quite happy with my Tesco's teabags at 26p per-box, but if John says that Yorkshire tea is the way to go, then I'll give it a try. Will report back when I've bought my first box and sampled the tea contained within....

  • im so sorry john! i have tried yorkshire tea, 2 boxes! (not bought together i might ad, 2 journeys) but it just didnt feel right, youve to leave it much longer to brew (i think the bags restricting it) so last night in morrisons, despite the fact that pg tips carries a 34p price premium, ive gone back to pg.

    i tried john, i tried!

  • so good!! hilarious. thisa guy is a genius! and yes, instead of this super geezer, we have those two ponsy oxbridge cunts from peep show, and that twat Walliams as mentioned.

  • so good!! hilarious. thisa guy is a genius!

  • Forget about that washing line :D

  • bloody classic i could watch this over and over again...you just dont see adverts like this any more...

  • Chill john Tha'll get tha sen in a reet state, ave brew instead pal

  • Ken: Good news John! I've got you a gig with Billy Joel

John: You've got me a gig with Billy Joel ??!!

Ken: Clean your ears out John, I said 'I've got you a gig at the village hall'

  • Good use of the fun rhythm there John, goes down well in sheltered accomodation apparently. :-)

  • good choice of biscuits

  • you know a chest freezer is his favorite performance surface.

  • Brilliant advert, why have yorkshire Tea changed the advert from John, to some new poncey young couple!.

    Bring John Shuttleworth back!.

  • john.........washing line....lol

  • hahahahahaah

  • I absolutely agree-the Industry these days is so Industry they have forgotten what they are actually there to do which is communicate with a potential audience not sit around and tell themselves they know better than anyone who doesnt work in the industry and because of this we all have to suffer Little Britain endlessly and the like, whilst geniuses like Graham Fellows just get put down!

  • MacSel1 probably thought The Office wasn't a very good comedy because a lot of it was filmed using a hand held camera.

  • Its all me me me with you -go and fix that washing line!!

  • MacSel1: "dreadful commercial, cheap, horrible, shoddy camera work" yet EVERYONE seems to like it.

You work 'in the industry'? As far as i can see and from what i've read you have no clue!

This advert is everything it was intended to be...This advert is pure excellence... Your assessment is at best poor.

The quality of adverts are far superior and entertaining now than ever. it has nothing to do with budget. which isn't a valid arguement as we invest more in to creative development than ever

  • Great ad, tried to recreate it on my own keyboard from memory and created my own interpretation of the song to annoy my wife (using C, F& G chords). Love the creativity and intelligence behind this ad, it's a refreshing antidote to the inane aspirational cr@p we get from Gillette or car manufacturers who treat the public like morons whom they can dazzle with special effects or expensive production values.

  • aha ;)

    YORKSHIRE :)

  • Jason says, don't worry about it cos our Mary will sort it out. Go Daddio. How's that Jase? LOL. x

  • Very funny, but I thought the actor was Vic Reeves

  • Love it! I want to put it on my phone!!

  • John doesnt mind being banished to the garage to play his organ as he gets a nice reverb off the breezeblocks.

  • Love the tea. Love the ad. Go John!

  • Hate the tea but love the character.

  • "JOHN, washing line!!!"

  • ee bah gum lad

  • So funny...lol.

  • i wanna kill

  • I tend to hate Adverts full strop, and this is no exception. It's grating.

  • Surely the sound of bees perpetually harassing you for stealing their honey is more grating than a humurous advert?

  • so why watch it on you tube????

    plonker

  • well people wanting something for very little money isnt exactly a bad thing we are in an economic downturn

  • LOLOLOL,

    YORKSHIRE FTW.

  • fuck off if u dont think this advert is the best advert on telly! if u want expensive, epic, special effect filled viewing fuck off to the cinema!

  • Sadly not only is there little money in the making of commercials, but also in film making as a whole. When you see the quality of a lot of commercials it is poor. New films coming out are also thin on the ground. I think your language is not necessary and no it is not the best ad on the tv by a long chalk in terms of quality filming etc, but whatever rocks your boat. I wonder if you are the type to watch that anal crap Big Brother? Says a lot about what people watch these days.

  • Way to miss the point.

  • The point I was making was the quality of commercials now on the TV. So many are animated and commercials like one of them for car/house ins and a window commercial are terrible. Commercials used to be like mini features. Everything is done on small budgets with no content. I only comment on them because we make them and sadly its a sign of our times. I suppose it depends what you are looking for, but being in the business you notice it far more than maybe other people do.

  • Can I hear backpedalling? You went in all guns blazing and made an arse of yourself. John Shuttleworth is funny *because* he is hopeless; I take it you've never listened to any of his previous material.

Go and make your boring pseud judgments somewhere else.

  • No you cant hear backpedalling! I still stand by what I said because it is a dreadful commercial, cheap, horrible, shoddy camera work need I go on? The point was not the "man" himself but the commercial. And to your final point - no I have not listened to his previous material and given the angle of the commercial I wouldn't as apart from the above I don't find it remotely funny. The guns are still blazing re commercials - that is my bread and butter.

  • 'no I have not listened to his previous material'

It shows. You need to because you don't understand what you're criticising; no wonder adverts are shit, with the likes of you making them. Why not go and talk to your family or something? You're boring, and I'm just going to start calling you gay.

  • What a pathetic reply! We don't write the scripts we film AFTER the agency and client have decided their format, from a storyboard. We can only film what we are told to. When budgets are cheap you get boys doing a mans job, which is partly why our BRITISH film industry is in the state it is in and commercials shot on video and not film because it's cheap. Judging from your last comment I think you're giving your age away! Bedtime soon? I understand completely what I'm critising YOU dont!

  • Jesus Christ. Go and LISTEN to some of Graham Fellows' (as John Shuttleworth) material. Then come back and tell me that the production values aren't spot on.

  • By the way - over 25 years in the industry says I DO know what I am talking about.

  • Ooooh! Bow to dow teh advret king! You failed. Take the fail, and learn from the fail.

    Gaylord.

  • Now you really are being pathetic and are not not worth talking to - funny how now you are out of your depth you decend to talking rubbish. And you started off so well. I think we know who the failure is here don't we! Back to school me thinks and for some spelling lessons. Perhaps you should learn the lesson never to criticise those who actually know more than you as now you look stupid.

  • You're funny. 'Bow to dow teh Advret king' is a take on how kids get all het up and type any old shit when they're arguing, you may not have come across it. Trying to patronise me won't work and neither will criticising my spelling as you'll notice I can spell perfectly well. Look up 'fail', look up 'teh' and don't rely on being able to bullshit your way out of an argument. You haven't listened to Graham Fellows so you don't know what you're talking about.

  • Who said anything about arguing? Your back to talking about the "person" not the technical content of commercials in general. I don't need to bullshit my way out of anything and if you feel patronised thats your problem, not mine. If you knew anything about the art of film making this "discussion" could go on, but clearly you have no idea at all, so I rest my case.

  • Pick your case back up then, you are bullshitting; you came in, saying how beastly this advert is and now you're trying to digress into an area you're comfortable with. We aren't talking about film-making, we are talking about THIS advert, for which the production methods are entirely appropriate.

    You're also being trolled.

  • are you thick or something? It's MEANT to be like this, that's the JOKE? if you don't get it don't post, just go back to watching blah... eejit!

  • Whatever the negative comments. This advert is still very funny."Nowt wrong with it!"

  • nowt better than a good old yorkshire man xD

  • fucking quality

  • LOL!!!!

  • hilarious hahaha

  • Yes, it's all Graham Fellows, isn't that obvious?

  • No. it's not obvious. who the fuck is G Fellows.

  • He's a comedian and writer who created the character of John Shuttleworth in 1986 - all the characters are voiced by him.

  • this is embarresing to people (such as myself) from yorkshire!
