  • Watching Teddy Ruxpin being murdered just destroyed my childhood :(

  • AWESOME robot :D

  • I used to have teddy ruxpin when I was 2.

  • Dude, that is so crazy.

  • @JDWolfman12271 Thanks! I haven't used him in a while. It's a good thing you commented on this vidoe - it's a good kick in the butt to put some new batteries in him again!

  • You revived him! Awesome.

  • creepy..... yet cool at the same time!

  • @kittykatmeow224 You should interact in real life with him... he sometimes creeps me out now that he can understand speech recognition

  • @kittykatmeow224 You should interact in real life with him. he sometimes creeps me out now that he can understand speech recognition

  • i want one that does that! so creepy and cool!

  • thats pretty sweet you need to put that skill to making some money somehow

  • @BloodScorchedSun I've tried :) I started a company which funds my robot research. You can visit the website in the link and see the other robots i've built. Thank you btw :)

  • @aliencurv No problem. You got some really cool stuff on there.

  • @BloodScorchedSun Hopefully this stuff will help change the world :) And introduce robotics into peoples homes! It's a pretty important passion

  • awesome robots

  • @MrSunezata Thank you :D

  • @aliencurv you welcome

  • You should program your Teddy Ruxpin to say something evil and then hide him near someone watching the 2008 Halloween episode of Nostalgia Critic

  • can you have your Teddy Ruxpin Bluetooth Robot ?

  • Awesome!

  • disturbing!

  • That is awesome! I wish I knew how to do things like that.

  • I'm guessing that you were inspired by the 1980s mad scientist commercial. Because when someone says "Teddy Ruxpin," the first thing that I think of is Dr. Frankenstein's experiments.

  • Holy crud...

Do you have a video of him speaking and responding? I need to see it. 8|

  • the throat slitting brought me in xD

  • @gebandit2rulz HAHA, cruel i know!

  • CREEPY!! I want to do that t mine now!

  • are u like a super genuis ? this is insane

  • @amberthesuperfox :) Thank you! I have a lot of time on my hands hehe

  • i had this doll when i was little brings me back his eye fell out though it made me upset

  • Step 1: Show a kid the first ten seconds of this video

    Step 2: ???

    Step 3: Profit.

  • Impressive job. If you can get it to walk, how long before we have a robot like Teddy for AI.Oh yeah we haven't worked out the I part of AI.

  • Tell Mr. Confessabear!!

  • We can rebuild him...

  • @nesatlas a candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long

  • Amazing! You've brought Teddy Ruxpin to life!

Just think of the possibilities with a Teddy Ruxpin that can move and walk without batteries or a tape...

  • Does it still tell stories?

  • @electronic4evr it sure can. and also being remote control and autonomous, it does a lot more :)

A new video will be released soon becuase it is bein able to walk

  • @aliencurv Awwww, that's cute, I want a Teddy Ruxpin like that :D Oh yes, and thanks for giving him a new life, Playskool Teddies aren't usually able to move beacause of belt failure.

  • @aliencurv I have a question, how can it still tell stories without the cassette mechanism?

  • Want to sell the Piston Retro robot in the background?!?!?!

  • @AndroidHumanoid He's a pretty wicked robot hey? The piston dude. He has been modified also.. Check out the video called Master Blaster in my channel :)

Don't hate me for modding a retro robot!! :D

  • I don't think there is a more awesome way of starting a video than taking an adorable teddy bear robot, and slitting his throat open.

  • @MichaelKeehls HAHA,I've actually received some email about that. Some people found it offensive!

  • Comment removed

  • Hey i still have that robot! :D Tobad it only walks...

  • @Intosia I didn't know there was a walking version too?! That's awesome! Want to sell it to me?

  • @aliencurv Well, it shuffles it feet back and forth, it has small wheels beneath it. Ps, im from Holland so shipping would be a bitch :P

  • When T.J. Bearytales came out (roughly the same time as BackPack Teddy) I was talking to a Baby Boomer frined of mine who also remembers how revolutionary original Teddy was in the 80's, and we both wondered why the next evolution of Teddy wasn't something like this or T.J. style, because just having eyes/mouth move today is not revolutionary as it was in the mid-80's. It was probably trying to do nostalgia, but kids won't appreciate it like they did 25 years ago, because toys are more advanced.

  • @redilliop You're absolutely right about that, the thing that really upsets me about the BackPack Toys version of Teddy Ruxpin is the lack of software produced, and while we're at it, why on earth didn't they make a new Grubby that communicates wirelessly with Teddy Ruxpin??? Why not???? I also think they could have maybe come up with some kind of computer interactivity with Teddy Ruxpin and matching computer games, Microsoft did that years ago with a Barny toy.

  • @Lachlant1984 you totally read my mind about a wireless Grubby- I REALLY wondered that as well! One thing I don't like about the new format was the cartridge. The cartridge itself was fine, won't be destroyed as easy as a tape, but, they were edited, and like you noticed the Missing Princess one doesn't have the safety message. The other part I don't like is that he uses only 1 motor to run both his eyes and mouth, meaning he can't blink while talking or singing- only when someone else talks!

  • @redilliop Yeah I agree with you there, apart from the Treasure series stories the others are all the same I think. Have you noticed that the BPT Teddy Ruxpin also uses up batteries quite fast? I use good quality AA's in mine, 2 days after I got that Teddy Ruxpin the batteries went flat, and even though he'd been used for a few hours a day I expected the batteries to last longer. Blueoctopede sent out a survey of what the next Teddy Ruxpin should be like, ask her to send you a copy of it.

  • @Lachlant1984 I'll have to do that. I did try I think it was either the Airship or another cartridge, and there was one line that was read slightly different than its WOW version. It's hard to tell unless you play one right after the other, because it's slight, and I mean SLIGHT!

I've only used the BPT one twice (just to see if it worked or not) I will do a review over all 4 versions- it's my season 2 premiere, and I'll incude that button sound in it for you. I'll show how all 4 are different.

  • @redilliop That would be great, thanks. One thing I do like about the BackPack version of Teddy Ruxpin is the 2 stories per cartridge, I may have mentioned that to you in a previous comment, but I can't remember doing so, having 2 stories per cartridge was a great idea and they did it well, but as most of us have said, the lack of software really ruined that version of Teddy Ruxpin.

  • @redilliop It would be great if they went back to the full sized 3 servo design with 4 C size batteries, but of course with digital technology and motors that don't seize up due to lubricant migrating to the commutators in the motors, I also think some kind of computer interactivity would be great, that will keep people interested, and bring back all the old stories and programs from the original Teddy Ruxpin. That's what I think should happen if a new version gets made.

  • @Lachlant1984 couldn't agree more! They went to the one motor design on the PS version. I wish they would have kept the old 2 motor design, instead of shrinking it, and making it 1 motor. If that motor goes out, he will totally go out, not like the WOW ones where only one component would stop. Plus, the PS version had all those pulleys- I tried to do repairs on that one, but totally gave up on it! For computers, they could connect online, and download NEW stories! Phil Baron is still alive.

  • Teddy Ruxpin meets TJ Bearytales in terms of movements, interesting. Are you powering Teddy Ruxpin with an AC Adaptor, or by batteries? Is this the Playskool version of Teddy Ruxpin from the early 90's? What tape was that you pulled out of him?

  • I'm in the process of modding a full-sized Teddy Ruxpin. He's got three servo motors and they're all busted! What would you recommend for replacements?

  • @blueoctopede can you visit my ez robot website and post some pics of the servos and insides? i'll have to see what it looks like internally, and the placement of the servos.

  • @aliencurv I don't have any pictures on this computer, but I do have a video on my account of a very basic Teddy Ruxpin repair video I did a while back. It shows the positions of the motors and how they fit in the frame of his face: watch?v=pStz-FZTM0I . Thank you!!

  • I picked up a TV teddy at a local good will this weekend. It has a 455khz AM radio receiver chip in it. I can't seem to find a schematic for it. I think it issues commands via PWM to a board within the head itself as the top of the head is a speaker. Must split the AM signal to audio and commands. Haven't quite figured it out yet but I'm aiming to do something goofy with an Arduino.

  • @simpleinseattle i just googled it. sweet little robot! could be a lot of fun. i wouldn't bother with the arduino though. embedded microcontrollers are limiting for robotics

  • Greattt!! Now do it with a chucky doll! Lol!

  • @dreadrockinc187 haha can u imaigne? i think teddy ruxpin has freaked enough people out :) I started working on making him walk this weekend. Its even creepier now! sadly, that wasn't what i was going for. i'll post another video soon

  • It would be great to add the original functions via bluetooth instead of via cassete. Read the books and all, but via bluetooth. If was to be mass produced again, owners could download more stories from the web instead of buying carts. What about "Grubby", any ideas for him for the future?

  • @stridz0r i considered that. but the goal of this robot is to walk around and be a character. the new video of him walking wll be up later this week :)

  • You should post a video of it synced up with Daft Punk's Technologic xD

    That would be sweeeet.

  • We can rebuild him. We have the technology.

  • I repair Teddy's back to original specs. I think if you used an original 1984-85 version with the metal backed cassette deck you would have more room overall in the body and head, and the mouth function is far superior and opens wider. This ones mouth barely moves. Overall though a great result and I would love to have servo control of one of mine.

  • @cranie4 that's pretty cool dude.

  • Nice! I watched Teddy Ruxpin a bunch growing up, it's awesome to see him become robotic. Turns out I have the same rotary tool and I was wondering if that was a reciprocating bit you were using or more of a tile reaming bit?

  • you should have mounted a cheap mp3 player or something so he could also talk! i know thats easy for you!

  • @001lightyear he will be talking with the ez-b speech synthesis in version 2 :) .. he currently has voice recognition also! hes' wicked

  • @aliencurv woah amasing we will be waiting for part 2 of the video!
