Your hair is beautiful don't worry about what the others said, the most of us appreciate your time you gave us the tips you share we us, I got a lot from your tips and I'm happy with the small cake business that I'm running :)

  • @Victoria16686 This recipe in particular is just for tylose. There are other recipes

for other types of gums, but I never done an exhange on this one. Thanks!

  • did you use regular sugar or is it confectioners(powdered sugar) ?

  • @joannajohnson82 Confectioners Sugar

  • I love this video!! It's the best gumpaste recipe out there....just wondering ...every time I see the recipe other websites too.....it calls for 12 teaspoons of tylose...why not just say 4 tablespoons? It's way easier to count to 4...lol....Also can you double this recipe and have the same awesome result?

  • @sarahhayes77 I dont play with the exchanges..lol I never double the recipe. Im sure it works but its more to knead

  • Thank you dear very informative video :)

  • where do you find tylose?

  • Hi Edna, thank u so much ur videos are so clear and great.... may I ask u is it okay if I use Wilton Gum Tex as I can't get Tylos where I live and not easy to order online for The middel east as well, thanks :)

  • Thx for reply: )

  • Hey Edna can we cover the cake with gum paste and are they edible? Thumbs up for a great tutorial : ) would you be able to do the tutorial for ranunculus ? Pls pls.....

  • @morimali Cake is not meant to cover a cake, Its more for delicate details. FOr covering a cake you can use fondant.

  • @tonedna1 oh! Okay! thanks! ^_^

  • edna, you are the best,,,, I learned so much from you :)

may I ask you Q. , I'm 35 years old and almost 2 years ago I found the beautiful world

I really wanted to know , can I use meriwhite instead of the eggwhites and if so what is the equivalent qantity, as some say 2 tablespoons and some 2 teaspoons per egg. Great difference .

    Needless to say , yo

  • @crowncakes you would have to test that. I never tried it..Can't say for sure

  • Just Mix It For 10 seconds lol she mixed it for like 2... 2:27-2:46

  • @adonysha I had to edit...at the time I posted this video youtube aloud only for ten minutes.

  • nice , is not difficult, tranks you, very much

  • is the paste to get better overnight? Thank you Edna!

  • Hi Edna, Thank you for all your tutorials on youtube.I am learning a lot from you. I tried your gumpaste recipe today. It is resting now but really the paste looked not elastic pliable though but not very smooth.....also it forms a crust with cracks on it VERY FAST! Does it mean that my paste is too dry( too much icing sugar) also the atmosphere is very dry at home.I live in Toronto, Canada

  • I have a question...when I start makin my gumpaste figures, how long will they last? becuz I wanted to make a figure in advance. I heard it'll last 2 yrs if u seal it correctly. and the tylose powder, cn I buy it at michaels craftstore?

  • @eternalbliss090222 Yes, it will last a long time as long as you let them dry fully before storing. Tylose is found at specialty cake stores, I have it in my website.

  • Comment removed

  • can you use gum text instead of tylose?

  • @ballerinabomb No, gum tex has its own recipe..I don't actually like gum tex very much.

  • At 3:20 I forgot what she was talking about

  • @megaguytanner Is that good or bad? lol

  • When you say sugar what do you mean - is it icing sugar or plain powder sugar

  • @marilyndmello Icing sugar..10X

  • Thanks so much ♥♥

  • Edna:

  • Edna this is one of my favorite recipes for gumpaste to. It works really well.

    THANKS AGAIN!

  • @llepianoausoleil you welcome!

  • @tonedna1

Hi Edna, thank you ive learnt alot from your videos your a great teacher

quick question can i halve the recipe and how to store the gumpaste?

    thanx

  • @msrayan27 yes you can..store in the fridge well sealed

  • Thx. Do you know that I advance a lot with you? Thank you again.

  • @helpluviose Good!! ;)

  • Please take note that your eggs should be on a room temperature. I made mine using the eggs straight from the fridge and it turned out so hard and crumbly :-(

  • @christineh777 I used them cold all the time, sounds to me your eggwhites where on the small side. I usually check this at the royal icing stage, if the icing is too stiff it will give you a crumbly dough. So at that stage if you see that the icing is too stiff, add another eggwhite.

  • thanks Edna!

  • hi, you are very beautiful and good! You excuse my English, I am Italian,

could you tell me how many grams of sugar and how many grams of tylose?

I thank a lot you and so many, so many compliments! simona

  • @simona17100 I dont use grams in so Im really not sure. I suggest you look for a conversion chart, Google it.

    Thanks for the complements!

Gracias, adoro tus videos y tu web. Gracias por enseñarnos, un saludo.

  • @plumz06 -try divisoria if you cant find it their try in quiapo if you still cant find it try in chocolate lovers in cubao :)

  • im not good in breaking my eggs*lol

  • Jesus, are those ears real?? Holy shit I got scared!

  • Hi Edna

Your video is very good , however I have a question. You listed on your ingredients 12 tablespoons of Tylose but later on, during the video, it is written on the screen 12 teaspoons of Tylose. Could you please clarify the amount of Tylose?

    Thanks

    Nora

  • we dont have tylose here in Fiji as well, and we need it for tomorrow, I guess its fondant for us..

  • do u chew it

  • Can antone please tell me what is Tylose??? I've been in loads of shops looking for it here in England. If it can't be bought over here what can I substitute it with, thanks

  • @TheLozza1968 There is no substitute..I have it in my webstore, maybe check on cake supplies stores in your area.

  • @TheLozza1968 You can buy it on ebay or most online stores.

  • I love your videos and how you take us through the steps in an easy simple fashion. Plus I like the way...you are so down to earth.

  • Has anyone used re-hydrated powdered egg whites in this?

  • One more thing ....can I save it ? ...I think my egg whites were not larg enough :(

  • @DreeLulu I had made a softer batch and combined it. Or added some fondant to it and used it in details that dont require a super delicate gumpaste. Some people had added more eggwhite but I havent tried this. If you see next time that the mixer is having a hardtime at the royal icing stage, add the eggwhite right there. It wont hurt the mix. You can save more sugar too and add as needed.

  • @tonedna1 Thank you very much for your reply. This was my first time and was unfamiliar on the texture.

I am looking forward to the launch of your new video. I am waiting for this one before I order the one on Blooms and vines.

I also wanted to say that you are a true artist. Your cakes are work of arts. Thank you for sharing your passion. Regards

  • @teresis1 No, gum tex has its own recipe, and is not as good quality

  • i just made gumpast and it turned out very dry and hard...Do you think I added the sugar too fast? Need Gumpast HELLLPPPPP!! Thank you :-S

  • what is the black thing on your ear?

  • @DadaAlano earphone with microphone to talk

  • @tonedna1 oooh ok :)

  • I have problems with my tylose gumpaste. It's been rainy and humid out here where I live (I'm living at the Philippines) and all my gumpaste flowers and figures have gone tacky and soft. Is it because of the humidity? Can I still save it?

  • @John081590 Humidity is a big enemy of sugar. Is best to work in areas with Air conditioner

  • @tonedna1 Thanks for the reply! I just used an oven to dry it out and stored it in airtight containers with some packets of silica gel. I will keep you advice in mind next time I make them :)

    Gracias

    Nancy

  • I like ur accent and ur hair

oh yeah I have a question

what's a tylose and powder sugar??

  • @phoebecutie143 Tylose or CMC can be bought in cake decorating or cook shops or over the internet. Not expensive and it comes in small amounts. Powdered sugar is icing sugar (UK), however I think icing sugar is a bit finer than powdered sugar (caster sugar would be too coarse) by the look on the video as my icing sugar puffs around the kitchen when I sift it and add it to my mixer. Most frustrating & messy!!!! You can also make gumpaste by adding tylose to ready made fondant icing. Debs

  • @phoebecutie143 Thanks! likethe lady explained, Powdered its also known as confectioners sugar. Its a very fine sugar almost looks like powder. The Tylose I sell in my website too.

Gracias

  • can you use gumpaste in the place of fondant on cakes? like covering the cake and all that or no?

  • @loveMeSomehiphop Gumpaste is not meant to use for covering a cake

  • Love this video!! ok. Gracias

  • @alexacome5 La receta esta en mi website. Son 12 cucharaditas

  • I love the fact that you're so lucid with your explanations ,can you make a video as how to make Chocolate Modeling Designs and how to do the cake in different colors?

  • can you add color, if so which is best- drops or gel? and when, before refridgerated or after? and does it have a blan taste if so can you flavor it? thanks!! =)

  • @moNster121014 Liqui-gel are the best. I dont really eat gumpaste flowers but yes, you can add flavor

  • hey how can i make this paste eggless?as i dnt eat eggs

  • Does this work the same way if you halve all the ingredients?

  • @fairytalerescue It should go to my website and look under this tutorial some guides you should follow to make sure you end up with a good consistency

  • I love how you work Edna. I live in England and tried making this a few times to no aveil but I managed to do it now. thank you love ur videos

  • When I'm mixing the batter could I put in flavor and possible colour?

  • @therandom1262 You can, but dont over beat it, it will bring air. Add the color when you are creaming the shortening.

  • What is a tylose?

  • @Taynz123456 Is a powder that makes the dough elastic

  • @tonedna1 Thanks for the reply Edna...:) I'm learning a lot from your tutorials...It's so easy to follow. Thank you for sharing your expertise!

  • @Taynz123456

tylose can be found on ebay which is where i got it from. costs about £6.00 for a 85g in uk. u cant actualy get it over here i dont think. hope this helps. xxx

  • What is tylose? I have no idea where I could get some?

Is there some kind of substitution for it? Or what does it even do?

  • @4u2ql where are you from. if in the uk u can purchase tylose from ebay. its about £6 for a 85g tub.

  • @pist43 Thank you very much I'll check that out then

  • cute! Mickey Mouse ears! me too.

  • Thanks Edna, it cake out great!

  • loved ur video, cant wait to try it. Great Job!!!!!!!!!

  • um wat is shortening..???

  • @lalacookiegirl1lala Is a type of fat here in USA

  • @lalacookiegirl1lala do u live in uk? if so use trex. shortening is basically lard xx

  • um can u make gum past without tylose...?? cause my birthday is in a week and i need it for gum paste and online it take 3 to 4 weeks to come so i dont have enough time ...????

  • what is tylose..????

  • @lalacookiegirl1lala Its an ingredient that make the gumpaste elastic

  • @tonedna1 where can i get it...???

  • what is tylos?

  • Hi Edna, I would really to try to do this my problem though is that in my country its so hard to find tylose, do you have any substitute?

  • @Yarri19 There is no substitute..:(

  • @Yarri19 cmc powder

/arabic gum powder/gum tragicanth powder/tylose powder are all food additives that makes your gumpaste or fondant easy to handle

  • @nick7268 But they dont all work well as an exchange in the tylose recipe

  • @tonedna1 yes perhaps but when you need make it and do not find tylose what you gonna do? not do it or to find a substitute

  • @nick7268 Trying new recipes never hurts. There must be some recipe they use in your country

    for making flowers.

  • whats the difference between gumpaste and fondant?

  • @ThePaopuFruitLover Fondant is not meant to be used for covering a cake. It's more for delicate details

  • @tonedna1 thanks for clearin that up :)

  • @tonedna1 Fondant isnt meant for covering cakes or gumpaste isnt meant for covering cakes?

  • Edna, I made gumpaste with tylose but after kneading it and letting is rest for a day it was like rubber almost..

  • @IntroGamer Sounds like maybe you use smaller eggwhites. Sometimes when it's at the royal icing stage if you see is too stiff you can add another eggwhite. Make sure too the you bring it to room temperature. Dont work with it cold.

  • @IntroGamer I had the same trouble. try this, 4 cups of icing sugar (confectioners/powdered) keep 1 cup for kneading, 2 large egg whites, 3 level tsp tylose. worked or me. lol i didnt use all of the icing suar for kneading either and it turned out brill

  • What is Tylose? and where can i get it?
