  • There are levels, I think the HS teacher ought to know that. I am a dancer and Fosse must be revolting in his coffin. This teacher has taught the students that Fosse can be done by anyone which is absolutely not true. You need YEARS of training

  • @azulselene I concede that these young students are quite lame with regards to quality Fosse moves. But, I do not understand how YOU could possibly know what the teacher's intentions were, nor the circumstances for including the full Frug segment in the performance. Yeah, these kids can barely dance, no less dance with style. ;-}}

    I enjoyed reading your sentence, "Fosse must be revolting in his coffin." Revolting?? Yes, you MUST be a dancer. ;-}} . . ;-}}

    I'm kidding - lighten up!

  • @leojrevlis I cannot know what the teacher's intentions were. I can see the result, I can tell you that a routine at the students level would have been more productive as they would have learnt something, kinesthetically speaking. When you do something at your level and you are able to perform it you are left a better understanding of how your body moves Why does the teacher takes away from them the opportunity to do something they will feel proud of instead of this crap?

  • They did an admirable job...ten years on, now, most of them are probably not performing for a living, but they will always have this experience to remember...that's what high school performing arts is all about...the experience...and developing an appreciation for the arts for the future.

  • @markcosborne Holy crap.. a sensible, rational comment! Pinch me; am I dreaming? Mark, will you marry me?

    This comment HAS been written on a youtube page, right? ..Just checking! ;-}

    And - you used capital letters, complete sentences, and correct punctuation.

    Again.. this IS youtube?

    Thank you for giving me "reason" to not remove 5 years worth of musical theatre performance clips.

  • @leojrevlis You're too funny! And you're so welcome. :^)

  • Grrrr..You so ruined this posting. FROM AN ALIEN TV! Fosse wouldnt Agreee!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This was delightful! "Charity" is the quintessential Fosse musical where all the style and technique he'd been honing

    for years came together! This dance is a great example of Bob's wit---The dancers did a great job! Ambitious for a H.S.! Perhaps your choreographer is more than a passing acquaintance of "Charity" or Fosse or both?

    Or----he/she has a great eye for replication. Either way, bravo! Trust me; if you're going to take; take from the best! Thanks again!

  • THAT SUCKS!!!!

  • Because...???...

  • cause bob fosse is revolting in his coffin, i understand that is a hs production... but they just killed the whole dance number

  • I asked "GinesCruz."

  • @armandofarras wasn't perfect, but on the other hand - the DANCE wasn't that bad - actually it was rather ok ... on the other hand (singing and the band caused some problems for my ears

  • why was part 3 so slow?

  • that was a great HS rendition of that dance, and they had plenty of guys in it, some of the HS vids of this are mostly girls.

    loved it!

  • Great job!

  • You are most welcome. Zany brits? Oh sorry im English. Im just saying the lead dancer was less asthetically pleasing and lacked natural presence however all the others dancers were simply wonderful!!!

  • the lead girl is shit wtf the others are great

  • It's always nice reading "SHIT." Thanks ever-so-much for your insightful comment.

    Oh you zany Brits!!

  • hear hear

  • Why thankyou :)

  • This is hard-core for a high school! Awesome.

  • FLHS ... so it is this HS, I've seen other performances as well. Does anyone know if they're looking for an Economics teacher?!

  • HOT! This rivals many road shows!!!

  • Very impressive! It's beyond high school and better than some pro road shows i've seen! HOT!!!

  • i'm so glad that there are other high school choreographers out there that challenge their students by recreating the exact intricateness of fosse's original choreography. the modifications made to suit the dancers were very smart and everyone did a beautiful job! bravo/a!

  • As a 'Sweet Charity' purist from way back in the mid-60's, this production was absolutely phenomenal. I can't imagine this was a high school production, period. Choreography, execution and precision were key here. Everyone visible in this video deserves great commendation, and working those white gloves ain't easy! Thanks for a great video!

  • ummm well to be quite frank. i love that fact they used the every movement of rich mans frug but i didnt really feel the passion or drive. im doing sweet charity for my high school play and i feel like my dance for it has more passion form the people. (even though i go to a skool for theatre arts). i kinda expected better. and pony tail girl was okay

  • What do you mean "even though I go to a skool for theatre arts"? Why does where you go matter?

    And you're right... pony tail girl was okay!

    Personally, I was never thrilled with this number, but I've been told soooo many times that it's "great" that I've been brain-washed into believing it!!

  • if any major unions knew that exact carbon copies were being made then you would get a huge lawsuit...complete thievery are these productions

  • Oh Jonathan.. Why do you feel that it's your obligation to announce lawsuit issues to the world. I private message to me would be more responsible and mature. AND, the law gives a three years limit to cry-baby cloning claims.

    HOWEVER - if you are sincere with your comment.. and just want to give a well-intended warning, then forget my nasty first paragraph!

  • oh no i wasnt meaning to nit pick, just felt like pointing out stuff, because i remember reading in the news about the creative team of urinetown getting pissed at a regional production and actually suing them. kudos to you guys for having the budget to pull off the carbon copies that you do. god knows my high school lacked any of that budget, as well as some of the regional theaters ive worked for, lol.

  • Well done, but the guy on the right at the start, in the glasses was annoying, too wobbly.

  • Oh, that's Ted... I slipped some Mexican Jumping Beans into his shorts!

  • ...

    I liked the lights...

  • I think I need to move and go to this high school, haha! My school has had 1 mucial in the oast 20 years and I'm a Broadway hopeful! We finally got to working on a musical this year, but the director is thinking of cancelling because she doesn't have time and our pianist cancelled.

    I've watched a lot of your videos and you guys are honestly amazing. Great job, especially with the Fosse! :]

  • Man, high school was never at the top of my theatre experiences, but this really makes it seem like garbage... Thanks? Hahahahaha

  • considering this is a high school that is honestly amazing

  • It's pretty cool that a high school was able to put on a production of "Sweet Charity" in the first place, let alone do so well with these very-hard Fosse dance numbers! It looks as though your choreographer got down a lot of the dance moves from the film and was effectively able to teach them to the students!! Even though this was done over 7 years ago, you should all be proud of this accomplishment! Cheers to you all! BTW, what high school was this?

  • i was Helene in Sweet Charity in 7th grade at my middle school. we got so much shit for it, though.

  • im doing sweet chairty in my skool and we have been working hard! cant wait till the show.

  • Fantastic!!

  • WOW Fantatstic!

  • Thanks for posting the video! i'm impressed with how good this production is, being a high school one! i thought the singing and the dancing were good before, and this sequence just proves i'm right!! =)
