hey im 13 and my mom played 80s music from the day i was born til today and honestly there are days when i like it better than the bullshit we listen to today. like wtf?! kesha cant even sing so why do we have to listen to it? we dont. im a kid that grew up in the late 90s and is still growing up- but damn the shit we listen to- for anyone that says this is a crappy song- stfu. this is amazing music.
i love this band ..especially their tune, red skies at night ! the vocalist has a lot of david bowie in his stance and style ! alot of people don't know this, but the fixx performed with tina turner on a song called, be good to me,,they're actually in the video ! i think they co wrote it with tina as well !
I have always absolutely loved this song! Such an awesome song from such an awesome and amazing band from such a great era that just rocked!! wow, such great memories come with this song, the best really! Such a great era to grow up in! Why it all had to change, I guess that is life but hard to let go of what we loved the most. I will always miss the 80's but I hold the memories tightly in my heart forever. Missing the 80's. 80's forever!!
The Fixx ...saw them 4 times when they toured Aus. loved em, and still have a "reach for the beach t and long sleeve ...reason they werent huge was the sound. they had a very very tight specific sound. let me die , but take me back to the 80s first...i was there :) m48
@mfactor88 they toured with the Police in the 80's at time when "Ghost in the Machine was released, an awesome concert, they layed old Comiskey Park in Chicago and 40,000 plus were just blown away!!!!
No I was not 7 years old in the 80's. I think this has to do with my nephew setting up this account for me. He was that age, not I. I do not even know how to view my CHANNEL in order to make the appropriate changes. But, I was alive and a teen in the 80's so I lived and enjoyed this decade of superb music. Cheers!
I always loved the very end of this song as it fades out. On the album if you pump up the volume during the fade out, you can hear Cy do and almost opera like rendition of the title as the final refrain. It's so satisfying.

Graduated from hs in L.A. in 1984, this age was the height of New Wave music, fresh from punk and before modern rock or progressive or indie rock. one of the leading radio stations was KROQ the "ROQ of the 80s" on 106.7 FM in LA. The FIXX was a regular staple of the rotation, along with Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, Adam and the ants, Billy Idol, Peter Gabriel, Psychedelic Furs, Police, Talking Heads, the Smiths, Flock of Seagulls, Ramones, U2, David Bowie, Siouxsie & the Banshees,
Was at KROQ "MexFest" the Summer of 85 after I graduated! The Fixx played, The Bangles, Squeeze, Chris Isaak and others. In Tijuana at the greyhound track if memory serves. Has it been 25 years? Where did the time go? And, I still listen to 80's like it were yesterday and enjoy it even more now!
Oh there was ALOT going on here. First of all the hair was new...we were just getting out of the 70's shaggy look into a new more sculpted look . And the suits with the straight legs. I remember I couldn't stop watching this video because they all looked So... Cool!

@theninameister I have to say that 60's and 70's music was great -- no one can deny that. But the 80's brought along a NEW SOUND my friend. Synth music that could not have happened before; therefore, it was new and fresh. Pop Rock of the 80's and New Wave -- thanks to the new technology that was not available before the 80's. I respect your opinion about this song, but I have to disagree. Cheers!

@KelseyL97 Easy answer. Today's artists are not musicians. They are entertainers. Entertainers are eye candy and performers and if you are not the "total package -- looks, etc.", you don't see the light of day.
@MrNero431 I totally agree! I keep listening 80s and 90s, and past 10 years music are really bad! Like this song, I was really astonished by it when I was 14! These music from 80s are really special and creative!

Hey they had this song recently in a horror film, "The House of the Devil." Was @ Angelika's and some of us began singin' this awesome song, NEVER GET OLD!
Ok so maybe you missed out the Fixx but you also missed the Reagan Administration Ollie North and big shoulder pads...that's not so bad. Take from a person who came of age in the 80's. Gotta admit the music was good though....
Me and a friend were walking down a hallway, in Madison Square Garden, and we both thought of this song...It was hilarious..Also- WHY ARE YOUTUBE VIDEOS SO DARK???
I have to object, 1964-197.....basically I'm saying the middle to late 60's were the most experimental, fruitful, the best decade ever with the 80's coming in second.
Thanks for posting this, it sure brings back memories. I think I just about wore the oxide off of the cassette tape of Reach the Beach in my truck, while moving out of state to start my first "real Job". Ah, the 80's. Good times!
This song was the catalyst for one of my greatest concert memories. Sep 3 1983, Oakland, CA Coliseum. The Police, The Fixx, Madness, Oingo Boingo, and The Thompson Twins. During this song someone threw a flattened 32oz beer cup into the air like a frisbee. Soon there was another, and another. Soon the whole field was throwing flattened cups. Then the stands all around the stadium erupted in flying cups. It looked like a giant popcorn machine going to the beat of "One Thing Leads to Another".
I remember this song. My roomate started a huge PANTY RAID all over campus like 3 days before the semester started. . Also, our football team lost 3 games by controversial calls. The teams we lost to were Florida, Florida State and Miami. That was ECU's Championship year if it was not for the Refs.
My daughter was traumatized by the loss - I've been waiting to meet-up with you and your roommate. Where do you live so I can come over and have "a little talk with you both?"
My first concert....1983, July, San Fransisco, "Berlin, A Flock of Seagulls, The Fixx!!! I also saw The Fixx open up for The Moody Blues at the Mann Music Center in Philadelphia... I LOVE these dudes!!!!!!!
this was a bit before video concept songs made it like big so lots of videos were made after a song got popular im thinking could be insane tho bl aha aaaaa
He sells hats now... one thing leads to another...
If you listen to (or read) the lyrics, they do rather relate to the time this was recorded.
"Why don't they do what they say, say what they mean?"... ahhh the Reagan years...

Thanks for posting this, it sure brings back memories. I think I just about wore the oxide off of the cassette tape of Reach the Beach in my truck, while moving out of state to start my first "real Job". Ah, the 80's. Good times!

"Why dont they do what they say, say what they mean!"
This still rings true in the world of politics.

his suit is tight like most clothes of the 80's so when he swings his arms back, his bird pops out!

I have no idea what's going on, but I've always liked the song! I always thought this would be a great song to do a close-up magic routine to.

Where do you live so I can come over and have "a little talk with you both?"

thats kinda creepy you wanna find out where guys live.......
DeReK32415 2 years ago
Not as "creepy" as stealing girls' (my daughter's) underwear, but then again, you came in to the conversation late and under-informed... Your "bad."
