  • He sells hats now... one thing leads to another...

If you listen to (or read) the lyrics, they do rather relate to the time this was recorded.

"Why don't they do what they say, say what they mean?"... ahhh the Reagan years...

  • Welcome to Vault 101!

    Watch out for the mutants!

  • Great song, but painful video. Did you ever notice how bad early 80's videos were? Difficult to watch, but great to listen to

  • @dustygrady

no I haven't noticed that. this stuff was great to dance to at the clubs, and it still sounds cool to me.

  • the 80d's are still the bomb.

  • This reminds me of political double talk. Why don't they say what they mean?

  • @fluffydanny

    fluffy WHY???!!!

it IS frusrating. why I luv the song.

  • @newsy8 Why don't say what they mean and stop beating around the bush. Plain English. Say what you mean and mean what you say.

  • @fluffydanny

If politicians said what they really mean, we'd hang 'em all!!

  • @WrathofWotan you got that right

  • How can anybody not like this song? How about someone who appreciates what REAL music sounds like! (way before and after as well!) the 80s and 90s.

This song is not AWESOME. It is just techno pop noise.

  • @theninameister

You obviously have no ear for GREAT techno music, which this song is.

  • @AuroraABC ...Where do u hear Techno???

  • @cartel24st

I was responding to theninameister who said this song is "just techno pop noise". I agree this song isn't real techno, so I shouldn't have said it is.

  • hey these guys played in middletown last summer

  • Freakin' love this song. Enough said

  • So unique, so creative, so different, so 'fixxed" on the 80's times.....this band was one of the best to come along....Love em!

  • Vice City

  • The Fixx are virtually unknown in Britain. For some reason most Brits have never heard of them. Their music didn't catch on there for some reason. I love their music.

Yes I know they are themselves British.

  • I've always liked the song, but never the video.

  • Im only 16..

And I really think this kind of music needs to come back!!

    Its the BEST!!!!

  • LOVE THE FIXX!

  • lol i was in the store today and this song was in my head and then this song came on the intercom and i was like omg i was just thinking about this song lol

  • Great song. Too bad the video "director" didnt take the time to even listen. Complete piece of shit video.

  • @DeathRockHippie

Nah, great video. Remember the alternative at the time was FM radio.

  • This song is one of the most played songs on my Ipod!!

  • Remember I was here.Thai

  • Was this filmed in a sewer tunnel?

  • They're damn real good but underrated!!!

  • BRILL!!!

  • This song was ahead of it's time.....

  • Long live the 80's. One thing leads to another! I love my Peach.

  • This is what I like... Im 13 and I like this more then today's hiphop and pop and all that shit. Bahh... THIS is the real stuff! =D

  • 1983 was incredible, because of the massive volume of hits like this, and the literally 100 others. Look it up.

  • @spacegasp

Yep, 1983 was probably the peak year for new wave.

  • OMG the Fixx I love them and I love how the singer use his hands when he sings.

  • hey im 13 and my mom played 80s music from the day i was born til today and honestly there are days when i like it better than the bullshit we listen to today. like wtf?! kesha cant even sing so why do we have to listen to it? we dont. im a kid that grew up in the late 90s and is still growing up- but damn the shit we listen to- for anyone that says this is a crappy song- stfu. this is amazing music.

  • sick bass!

  • i love this band ..especially their tune, red skies at night ! the vocalist has a lot of david bowie in his stance and style ! alot of people don't know this, but the fixx performed with tina turner on a song called, be good to me,,they're actually in the video ! i think they co wrote it with tina as well !

  • I like this song, but "Saved By Zero" is perhaps the best tune by them.

  • This song should have over a million views by now.

  • Going back to Vice City!

  • mp3iffy works again wooohoooo awesome - google mp3iffy

Windmills will save America! Yea Right! Full of Air!!!!!!!!

  • @1hillg Why are you bringing this up on a music video idiot.

  • thought this was early 90's?

  • I can't listen to this without thinking of the unbearably suspenseful scene from House of the Devil. Anyone else?

  • @unstableshark

totally. didnt see that movie coming and fecking loved it!!! thats how i found this song. been playing it ever since :D

  • I have always absolutely loved this song! Such an awesome song from such an awesome and amazing band from such a great era that just rocked!! wow, such great memories come with this song, the best really! Such a great era to grow up in! Why it all had to change, I guess that is life but hard to let go of what we loved the most. I will always miss the 80's but I hold the memories tightly in my heart forever. Missing the 80's. 80's forever!!

  • The Fixx ...saw them 4 times when they toured Aus. loved em, and still have a "reach for the beach t and long sleeve ...reason they werent huge was the sound. they had a very very tight specific sound. let me die , but take me back to the 80s first...i was there :) m48

  • @mfactor88 they toured with the Police in the 80's at time when "Ghost in the Machine was released, an awesome concert, they layed old Comiskey Park in Chicago and 40,000 plus were just blown away!!!!

  • No I was not 7 years old in the 80's. I think this has to do with my nephew setting up this account for me. He was that age, not I. I do not even know how to view my CHANNEL in order to make the appropriate changes. But, I was alive and a teen in the 80's so I lived and enjoyed this decade of superb music. Cheers!

  • I always loved the very end of this song as it fades out. On the album if you pump up the volume during the fade out, you can hear Cy do and almost opera like rendition of the title as the final refrain. It's so satisfying.

  • INXS, the Ramones, Oingo Boingo, Blondie, Elvis Costello, the Clash, the Kinks, the Jam, Thompson Twins, the birth of MTV and music television. it was a golden age for music!! some of it still sounds fresh

  • INXS, the Ramones, Oingo Boingo, Blondie, Elvis Costello, the Clash, the Kinks, the Jam, Thompson Twins, the birth of MTV and music television. it was a golden age for music!! some of it still sounds fresh

  • Graduated from hs in L.A. in 1984, this age was the height of New Wave music, fresh from punk and before modern rock or progressive or indie rock. one of the leading radio stations was KROQ the "ROQ of the 80s" on 106.7 FM in LA. The FIXX was a regular staple of the rotation, along with Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, Adam and the ants, Billy Idol, Peter Gabriel, Psychedelic Furs, Police, Talking Heads, the Smiths, Flock of Seagulls, Ramones, U2, David Bowie, Siouxsie & the Banshees,

  • @scottiek65

Was at KROQ "MexFest" the Summer of 85 after I graduated! The Fixx played, The Bangles, Squeeze, Chris Isaak and others. In Tijuana at the greyhound track if memory serves. Has it been 25 years? Where did the time go? And, I still listen to 80's like it were yesterday and enjoy it even more now!

  • All you peace niks. Should have let the Soviets bring your freedom you long for.You know redistribution of wealth.

  • ok, i kinda get the vid, but then i started to lose it, good song either way!

  • Haha: House of the devil.

Awsome movie, just like this song.

  • Oh there was ALOT going on here. First of all the hair was new...we were just getting out of the 70's shaggy look into a new more sculpted look . And the suits with the straight legs. I remember I couldn't stop watching this video because they all looked So... Cool!

  • @friendofstewart.....Hair by Vidal Sassoon!

  • I'm not sure that is a line that's really going to appeal to the voters.

  • What the hell is Vice City?

The Fixx rocked way before then!

LETS FRICKEN DANCE!! TO SOMETHING WITH SUBSTANCE!!

  • @Wheezer

Vice City was an early 2000s Grand Theft Auto game. Unlike GTA 3, GTA: Vice City took place in the mid 80s in Vice City, which is based on Miami, Florida. The game features cars with working radio stations. The multiple radio stations play the best hits from the 80s, one certain station Flash FM plays the best 80s pop hits such as MJ, Hall and Oates, The Outfield and The Fixx. Because of the game's success and popularity it resulted in a re-emergence of 80s music (all genres).

  • Yeah heard it on vice city just now, nice song!!

  • The house of the devil <3 :p

  • This brings even more depth to this song. Awesome scene in that movie!

  • YES! i had to look for it when i heard it haha

  • Awesome song and an even awesomer video. Who was alive when this song came out and can recall where they were? I know I can.

  • @roosevelthighschool well then tell us baby!!

  • @alaina66: I was in my parent's imagination. So in a way I was alive. I was born in 1985.

  • aahw, i loved this song! then... i played GTA vice city! and now i love it even more :D

  • cant... resist... moving my body to the rythm of this song!!

  • The mid-eighties are trippy times for music..yeaa the fixxxxxxxxxx ruleesssxxxxx

  • One of the coolest bass lines ever.

  • Great memories!!!!!

  • I loved this song. Found it on I-tunes and burned it. I have listened to this a thousand times. Man, what happen to today's music. It is all crap! I just listen to the music from the 80's and 90's.

  • i know what you mean! Where did it all go? I dont know, but we really want this awesome kind of music back!

love this song!! how can anybody not like this song?!

  • @KelseyL97 I agree. There is no comparison whatsoever between music like this and todays crap or anything in the last 15 years

  • @KelseyL97 I want this kind of music back and I'm a freshmen! In HIGH school!

  • How can anybody not like this song? How about someone who remembers what REAL music sounded like way before the 80s and 90s...like the 60s and even the 70s. this song is not AWESOME. It is just techno pop noise.

  • @theninameister 60's and 70's are way, way better, you don't have to tell me. So? I still like this song.

  • @theninameister I have to say that 60's and 70's music was great -- no one can deny that. But the 80's brought along a NEW SOUND my friend. Synth music that could not have happened before; therefore, it was new and fresh. Pop Rock of the 80's and New Wave -- thanks to the new technology that was not available before the 80's. I respect your opinion about this song, but I have to disagree. Cheers!

  • @KelseyL97

at least we have a computer to continue to listen to the good stuff!

  • @KelseyL97 Easy answer. Today's artists are not musicians. They are entertainers. Entertainers are eye candy and performers and if you are not the "total package -- looks, etc.", you don't see the light of day.

  • @MrNero431 You are right. Music today CANNOT compare. Glad to have lived

during the 80's ! I miss those great years, that is why I am always listening to 80's music.

  • @tortoni900 You were 7 years old in 1985. You hardly experienced 80's music at the time.

  • @MrNero431 I totally agree! I keep listening 80s and 90s, and past 10 years music are really bad! Like this song, I was really astonished by it when I was 14! These music from 80s are really special and creative!

  • @MrNero431 most new singers cant actually sing they are all pretty faces packages with computer perfected voices so they don't have an individual touch

  • @MrNero431 I commend you my friend!

  • @MrNero431 Try Electroclash music, it is like new new wave.

  • Love the round at 2:35!

  • vice city

  • Damn right, man! Vice city, bro!

  • Funny thing is it's the first time i see the video of it.

I was in my teens when that song came out.

    Brings back good memories.

  • AH!!!..High School Days(Daze).82'-86'

    Long live Generation-X!

  • Hey they had this song recently in a horror film, "The House of the Devil." Was @ Angelika's and some of us began singin' this awesome song, NEVER GET OLD!

  • You've got a blank face,which irritates

  • Great bass!!!

  • i wish i could have experienced the 80s! why couldnt my mom have me at 14 in 84 instead of 26 in 96? lol jk but i love the 80s.

  • Ok so maybe you missed out the Fixx but you also missed the Reagan Administration Ollie North and big shoulder pads...that's not so bad. Take from a person who came of age in the 80's. Gotta admit the music was good though....

  • Preach on Brother Lym...Loved early punk and the 80's. God the number of nights spent dancing to this and more!

  • I'm sister Lym actually...thanks for the compliment though!!!!

  • Me and a friend were walking down a hallway, in Madison Square Garden, and we both thought of this song...It was hilarious..Also- WHY ARE YOUTUBE VIDEOS SO DARK???

  • The 50's and 80's! two decades that can't be duplicated

  • I have to object, 1964-197.....basically I'm saying the middle to late 60's were the most experimental, fruitful, the best decade ever with the 80's coming in second.

  • What was with the dobermans?

  • Cy & the Fixx are an awesome band! great songs & one of the best MTV 80s bands :)

  • HS sucked, I enjoyed vocational school later on more..less BS and easy to pass classes.

  • ahhh, high school...my years were gr8..most people have horrible memories of h.s., but mine are awesome and include a fab soundtrack...

  • 1:40 hella trippy!

  • I love the part at :42 when it looks like Cy magically zips up his jacket. lol

  • my mind is still in the 80's

  • so does mine!

  • I sure had alot of fun in the 80's

  • also saw them last week at the Spark's (nevada) Nugget Rib Cook-Off!

These guys look older but still rock!

  • j'apprecie trop !

  • Saw these guys yesterday at the rib cook off great Inebriated fun! good dance tunes

  • Thanks for posting this, it sure brings back memories. I think I just about wore the oxide off of the cassette tape of Reach the Beach in my truck, while moving out of state to start my first "real Job". Ah, the 80's. Good times!

  • "Why dont they do what they say, say what they mean!"

This still rings true in the world of politics.

  • great sound quality.

    thanks for the great song

  • Comment removed

  • Had the 45! Thanks!

  • 1:52-2:00 Notice how his dance does a crazy chest flash thing.... kinda spooky.

  • his suit is tight like most clothes of the 80's so when he swings his arms back, his bird pops out!

  • This song and Red Skies At Night are great

  • I have no idea what's going on, but I've always liked the song! I always thought this would be a great song to do a close-up magic routine to.

  • Yes!!!!! Do what you say.......

  • The Fixx was kick ass!

Great beat and bass. Oh yeeaaahhhh.....

  • first time i heard this was on gta vice city and i loves it

  • what a cool song .

  • vice city!

  • LOL i remember playing GTA vice city and hearing this song, Love the song, makes me want get up and danceO_O WOOOHOOO !!!!

  • this is a very good song

  • sure it's not - the deception with tactics?

  • This song was the catalyst for one of my greatest concert memories. Sep 3 1983, Oakland, CA Coliseum. The Police, The Fixx, Madness, Oingo Boingo, and The Thompson Twins. During this song someone threw a flattened 32oz beer cup into the air like a frisbee. Soon there was another, and another. Soon the whole field was throwing flattened cups. Then the stands all around the stadium erupted in flying cups. It looked like a giant popcorn machine going to the beat of "One Thing Leads to Another".

  • THIS should be the motto for you tube

  • chcknsht just take comfort knowing your daughter is actually hot considering someone wanted to steal her underwear unless....

  • lol, a panty raid

  • I remember this song. My roomate started a huge PANTY RAID all over campus like 3 days before the semester started. . Also, our football team lost 3 games by controversial calls. The teams we lost to were Florida, Florida State and Miami. That was ECU's Championship year if it was not for the Refs.

  • My daughter was traumatized by the loss - I've been waiting to meet-up with you and your roommate. Where do you live so I can come over and have "a little talk with you both?"

  • chcknsht

thats kinda creepy you wanna find out where guys live.......

  • Not as "creepy" as stealing girls' (my daughter's) underwear, but then again, you came in to the conversation late and under-informed... Your "bad."

  • My first concert....1983, July, San Fransisco, "Berlin, A Flock of Seagulls, The Fixx!!! I also saw The Fixx open up for The Moody Blues at the Mann Music Center in Philadelphia... I LOVE these dudes!!!!!!!

  • I'm scared of dogs! There are dogs in the music video of The Fixx? Good heavens!

  • I grew up in this era, and i still can't figure out what this vids about.. Though some vids ended up being about nothing..Damn drugs!!

  • this was a bit before video concept songs made it like big so lots of videos were made after a song got popular im thinking could be insane tho bl aha aaaaa

  • Why is he walking in a sewer?

  • It's an interdementional gateway
