Do you mean Smokey's original family just abandoned him when they moved? Didn't they ask around to see if someone would take him in, or try a cat adoption agency?

I can't see how a family could just leave a pet behind!

Yes, They just moved off and left him. They didn't ask if anyone if they would be willing to take him in. To this day I can't believe that they would just leave him. My current neighbor was good friends with Smokey's owners before they moved and I'm sure they still are pretty close, anyways they're always saying that they hate him and mention stuff that he did when he was younger. Which I've yet to hear a good enough reason to just abandon him.
