This is a bit off topic but still relevant...when playing the organ, do you use regular progressions you would use on a piano when playing preacher chords? Like 6-2-5-1 and 7-3-6 and so on?
@gospelkeys07 I really like that last statement you said. In this field you do want every advantage you can get. So if a music degree would set you apart for you to play with that person or whatever, then yea I agree. I'm personally a computer science major, but once I get this degree, I'm definitelly gonna study music!
@gospelkeys07 I see what you are saying. The only thing that I don't agree is that you have to pay thousands of dollars to get a music degree that does not has a real value because it is hard to find a stable job and then you still have to pay back the loans. Also there many talented musicians out there that have the jobs someone with a degree would want. I'm not trying to discourage anyone who is trying to choose it as a major, but if money is a main concern, I don't think it would be good.
hi i'm from the philippines and i just want to know if you have the DVD online so i can buy it off electronically, thanks :) i've been a fan :D God bless you!
OK, I'm convinced. You got the goods. I know about tri-tone but never used 'em except in real sloooow blues/jazz after hours. I'm ordering some of your DVD's. Thanks for the clips. Fun to watch.
Man, I stumbled across this page looking at some Otis Spann.
I nearly fell off my chair laughing with surprise when you jump into the main improv about 38 secs in - you guys are so good its like a bodily shock to the system! Esp organist, he's just going crazy doing his crazy thing :-)

I have a question for all of you, do any of you guys play for a band or have played for someone famous? and if yes, do you have a music degree? I ask because I don't know if a music degree matters when trying to become someone known in the gospel industry
@GospelMusicians it's not about being famous is it? it's about being faithful. Once we present our gifts to God for him to use as tools in His hands it wouldn't matter if we become famous or not.
@GospelMusicians That's cool. But where'd you learn about the circle of fifths, relative minors, and tritone substitution? You know theory, your just self-taught, am I right?
@GospelMusicians You know theory, you perhaps don't know history or may not be a beast but talking about F#9b5 and relating everything, being able to teach without a minimum of theory. You're kidding me. You've probably learned many things on your own. But without a degree? I'm fine with that. Good job by the way, God bless.
Thank you Jamal and everyone at Gospel Musicians for posting these videos. I can't necessarily afford your DVD's put I'm very passionate about gospel music and watching you guys has really inspired me to be a better pianist, drummer, saxophonist, guitarist and vocalist than before.
