@MsIMax1 no its real lol. The stock firmware has things most users will not need such as log daemons, devtools, stuff like that. Whited00r removes those and I think now whited00r is a 3.1.3 firmware, which is a speed boost already.

is the Whited00r v4.2 firmware (or higher) based on iOS 3.1.3? Or is there one for iOS 4.2.1? I'm so confused.......most articles I found (as well as from the official website) says that everything is based on the iOS 3.1.3 firmware, except that features from iOS 4.x are added to it. But then I just found this article that says there's a new whited00r firmware based on iOS 4.2.1, just that the features that were locked for older hardware models like the iPod Touch 1G or 2G are now unlocked.

kmont, have you jailbroken before? If you jailbroke with Spirit or JailbreakMe it won't work.

If you jailbroke with say Redsn0w or blackra1n or another program that requires iTunes then it will work.

I've tried it installing on my iPhone 2G and so far it goes up to Preparing iPhone for Restore, and then after 2 minutes, I get Error 1604. I really wanted to try this. Is there anything else I can do?

@kmont1992 if it's not jailbroken already try to jailbreak it for ex: I used redsnow on 3.1.2 on ipod touch 1gen but i think is the same then just follow the directions it should work good luck
