Why do you people think USA won? Cause the coach decided to put more than half the players in defense to cut off any chances for Spain to get a goal. I'm so sick of hearing that excuse. First of all, much of the United States is desert and/or sub-tropical. Maybe 1/3 of our nation's states are suitable for winter sports, anda vast majority of our hockey players are produced in 5 states. Secondly, at the end of the day, humans can only skate so fast, run so far, ad jump so high etc. Population doesn't measure into it as much as culture,
training and genetics (as is the case with black athletes).

It was a great game, and regardless of the outcome it is obvious Spain is one of if not the best team in the world, but that is the beauty of Football, and that is why you play the games. You can't make excuses about why Spain lost, just give credit where it is due, the USA played an amazing match and deserved the outcome.

The USA played very defensively, kept their positions tight, played dirty (holding Spanish players with the hands, arms what ever they could). keeping them from moving. Spain built the entire game, they made the game, the USA happened to be there to hinder the game and wait for a cheap chance.Its always a good tactic to play defensively, wait around for the other exhausted team makes 2 deadly mistakes.

Spain played a very bad game compared to the level its been showing ever more. Every Spanish player had an extremely difficult and long season in Europe by the time this tournament took place.. The altitude and the thinner air affected the Spanish players negatively more both mentally and physically compared to the USA players. The Spanish coach was new at that time (style and tactic is different).

Why do you people think USA won? Cause the coach decided to put more than half the players in defense to cut off any chances for Spain to get a goal. Look how the defense scramble like crazy as soon as Spain gets near the penalty box, trying to create a wall. This could work when your up against a tough team like Spain except not on Brazil (if you've seen Korea DPR take on Brazil you'll know what I mean).

Guys don't get excited, Spain was playing uncharacteristically bad that day, losing the ball and wasting chances. The defense was having a bad day as well, hence the two goals. Xavi and Fabregas were not at their passing best, Puyol not at his tackling best, Torres and Villa not at their striking best. Spain's XI on a good day can rip a new hole in any team, that's a fact. I'm so sick of hearing that excuse. First of all, much of the United States is desert and/or sub-tropical. Maybe 1/3 of our nation's states are suitable for winter sports, anda vast majority of our hockey players are produced in 5 states. Secondly, at the end of the day, humans can only skate so fast, run so far, ad jump so high etc. Population doesn't measure into it as much as culture,
training and genetics (as is the case with black athletes).

The USA played very defensively, kept their positions tight, played dirty (holding Spanish players with the hands, arms what ever they could). keeping them from moving. Spain built the entire game, they made the game, the USA happened to be there to hinder the game and wait for a cheap chance.Its always a good tactic to play defensively, wait around for the other exhausted team makes 2 deadly mistakes.

They deployed a very nice defensive tactic against the Spanish, because Spain is very quick to the ball. Spain played a very bad game compared to the level its been showing ever more. Every Spanish player had an extremely difficult and long season in Europe by the time this tournament took place.. The altitude and the thinner air affected the Spanish players negatively more both mentally and physically compared to the USA players. The Spanish coach was new at that time (style and tactic is different).
