  • can you please tell me what's the purpose of the little metal piece around the pot at 0:55 ?

  • @nightmareminu its just a washer that has a point on it so that it is easier to fine tune your tone gibson usally put these on all their guitars

  • @dokkholiday Ok, thank you!

  • And it's because of Michael Voltzs today Epiphone is once again a great guitar company. And it's also because or Mike Voltzs we can say with 100% truth that the G-400 standard 62 Sg and the limited edition 50th Anniversary 1961 Sg Reissue's and many more Epiphone guitars age top professional quality and every bit Gibbons Equal and even better. Thanks again Mike Voltzs for making Epiphone once again great!

  • I'm going a step further by saying the Epiphone limited edition 50th anniversary 1961 sg's reissues are the best sg's of 2011 hands down.

  • Ill say it again today's Epiphones are the very best in top quality and. There geard today for the professional guitarist. There only down fall there way under priced for the top quality they deliver today no doubt about that.

  • Yeah, finally got mine, an alipine white. I'm totally blown away at how true it is to original 1961 specs, and the feel. Unfortunately, there are a few minor issues with it as well, but nothing that can't be sorted out for little €. Still, unbeliavable for the money.

  • I was offord $1,280 for mine from a strat collector this past August. Told him no.

  • dokkholiday did you purchase a 2007 highway one single coil strat daphne blue. That year model and color are very rare. Fender only made 1500 daphne blue up graded version strats. If you can even find one there selling over $1,200. I was offord $1,280.

  • For The past 2 to 3 years Epiphone have been shiting all over Gibson. The only draw back is that EPI guitars are so under priced for the top quality they put out. Thats going to change. The two best guitar companys are 1.Fender 2.Epiphone hands down.

  • dokk you know it pal fender strats are Rock n Roll and the Blues. Its just fantastic to see Epiphone shoven it up Gibsons sorry ass!

  • Hey dokk another Epiphone limited Edition 50th Anniversary 1961 sg sold on EBAY for $830 it was a Alpine white sg this is the 4th one that my self and stratdem has seen on EBAY and selling over $800. there not available every were mostly here usa.

  • Epiphone makes the better SG's and Les Pauls by far Hands down just like stratdem said and hes 100% correct Epiphone guitars are underpriced for the top quality they put out today. I would never buy a Gibson eaither.

  • @EPI6fingers FENDER STILL RULES OVER ALL LOL

  • Gibson better than Epiphone? Not a living chance in hell is gibson better than epiphone. May be 5 to 10 years ago but no way today.

  • I just purchased my 2nd Epiphone 50th Anniversary 1961 sg. I had a chance to pick up a Gibson 1961 special sg For $600. Instead i purchased the much better one. The Epiphone Custom Shop Limited Eidition 50th Anniversary 1961 sg. EPI MAN!!!

  • Epiphone 1961 sg is spot on its the same as the original 1961. Its also much better than the Gibson model. Tone/Feel /style the EPI 61 sg has it all and more. Its most certainly going to become a colectable.

  • I think it's a nice chance to buy another good guitar from Epiphone, like it was with 57' Junior. I'm thinking of bying this 1961 SG. Oh my, this is a Pete Townshend's guitar... but I've already had 1966 Wilshire with mini hums and I'm really in love with her))

  • The bridge pickup seems to far away form the bridge, hence a bit darker than the Gibson.

  • How does that neck profile feel?

I have always thought the P90s just sound awsome in a thin slab body like the SG.

  • Been wailing a LONg time for Epiphone to finally come out with a P90 equipped SG. My favorite almum of all time is Live at Leeds. I was always going to get a cherry one but that TV yellow looks cool.

  • Are your thoughts on this guitar still positive after a couple more weeks of use? This seems like a really good quality guitar for a reasonable price.

  • @Nyteshade517 Oh yes I started playing on my Vox ac15 and installed some mustard caps in it .It is my go to guitar now I cant seem to leave it in the case I fell in love with I still cant believe it is a $400 epiphone I have 11 guitars a crap load of fenders and 2 epiphones this one really shine as in tuning and playability

  • @dokkholiday Glad to see you still like it. I am a beginner so I don't know much about guitars but this is within my price range. I am looking at getting one in Cherry Red.

If I may ask...what are "mustard caps"?

  • @Nyteshade517 Tone Capacitors they go on the back of the tone control they change your tone a little bit some give it more mid range some make it sound more clear its a really long story you can look it up on google it will explain alot more than I can describe here .I have a cherry red G400 SG it is a real pretty color in person .You cant go wrong with this guitar really

  • @dokkholiday I will leave the modifying to the professionals. Thank you for the replies and I think I have decided to get this guitar. The price doesn't break the bank and it seems like it will last me for a while with just starting out to learn.

  • sounds good - what distortion pedal are you using? my old eyes couldn't get a good look - also, did you experience any noise at first with the p90s? I have to move around with my tube amps when I play a single coil and sometimes it's not acceptable. thanks

  • @MaxRadin The distortion pedal is Made by Love Pedal it is called the Les Lius I saw it on pro guitar shop demo and fell in love with it .It is supposed to recreate the early tweed tube tones .As for the pickups they are pretty quiet like humbuckers not noisey at all .I dont know what kind of amp or pickups you use or if you have tried this or not but wax potting your pickups will work wonders for the squeel if thats what you are getting .

  • Just found out there isnt very many of these Brilliant sg's left and theres NO REORDERS! When there gone there gone. And right now you have alot of Vintage guitar collectors buying them up.

  • No problem dokk its also the 2 nd year in a row that the usa consumer report has put the Epiphone sg over Gibson standard and the Gibson 1961 reissue sg's way to go Epiphone!!!!

  • After 5 days of research i found that theres only 4,000 of the epiphone limited edition 1961 sg made.

  • @stratdem WOW I didnt know that thanks for the info :)

  • I would also say that the Epiphone limited edition 50th anniversary 1961 sg. Is crafted by the Epiphone customshop. I became a loyal epi man not long ago because of such pro quality epi has. I will never go back to Gibson. Epi been apart of Gibson 1957.

  • dokkholiday a recent consumer report stated that the Gibson USA Authorized Epiphone sg's are some of the best crafted guitars in the WORLD at any price. A few months back i saw a 2010 Epiphone G-400 standard 1962 sg sell on EBAY for $765. FACT!

  • Cool! I'm getting me one asap. Do you consider it a good purchase or is it lacking? Also, yours has a white nut, but in the promo pics it's black plastic. Have you swapped it or is it original?

  • @antibejbi Oh yeah this was definitly a good purchase Im surprised these dont sell for more they make the G400 SGs look cheap .The Tv yellow has wood grain that shows through you cant tell from this vid or promo pics and the white nut came on it new and it also has the metal pointer inserts under the knob and Epiphone custom shop printed on the back .I prolly wont change a thing on it . Its perfect as it is stays in tune well I hope you enjoy yours I know I havent put mine down since it came ;)

  • nice

  • Nice one Tommy!! I like it!!!

  • @fourty5mag thank you My first one with P90s never played with them b4 just my jazzmaster and those to me are far from p90s
