Do we NEED to be federal? not really. We only need a central gov't for things like defense and the mint, a very limited set of priorities. The states can take up the rest. Cut all these silly entitlements or just let the states develop their own systems, much more efficient ones. Let the states run education how they see fit and that works for them. Only put a handful of REALLY serious crimes as 'federal crimes.' No absurd "hate crimes" laws, esp. at the federal level.
When you really think about it, has this federal system of ours worked? Not in the last 80 or so years. The feds have constantly encroached on the powers of states and made them DEPENDENT on federal aid through things like grants and earmark money. It's outrageous! If you ask me, it's time to just go back to a confederal system, but a better one than the one that preceded the Constitution. One that works. States should be supreme, not the feds. No unjust wars, Fed, all this crap.
The only people who REALLY 'need' this federal system are the poor and disadvantaged with all those benefits and entitlements. The rest of us who can take care of ourselves can do without most of the federal gov't. Or the feds having priority over so much crap. And besides, who says the states can't come up with their own programs to help the most needy?

The only places where Paul and Kucinich agree is on some individual liberty issues, issues of human rights and the Government overstepping it's bounds as far as the 1st and 4th amendments are concerned. Whether it passed or not is not the issue, what is important is people got involved, people learned, and if unjust they brought it back for another vote.

I don't see anything wrong with states voting on single payer, if the governed consent to pay the voluntary taxes as we have come to learn this system works, that is a constitutional act and nothing but American. We decided on a democratic process of determining such things. As times change we need not be afraid with breaking from ideologies that do not work, as long as it is done properly by the consent of the governed.

Do we NEED to be federal? not really. We only need a central gov't for things like defense and the mint, a very limited set of priorities. The states can take up the rest. Cut all these silly entitlements or just let the states develop their own systems, much more efficient ones. Let the states run education how they see fit and that works for them. Only put a handful of REALLY serious crimes as 'federal crimes.' No absurd "hate crimes" laws, esp. at the federal level.

When you really think about it, has this federal system of ours worked? Not in the last 80 or so years. The feds have constantly encroached on the powers of states and made them DEPENDENT on federal aid through things like grants and earmark money. It's outrageous! If you ask me, it's time to just go back to a confederal system, but a better one than the one that preceded the Constitution. One that works. States should be supreme, not the feds. No unjust wars, Fed, all this crap.
