Hi,i think its Steven?? is Tarzan still your partner in the other boat?? Im having a great retirement down south here in Fleetwood and dont miss the North \sea too much! hope the family is all ok and have a wonderfull holy holiday. We will be on a mission in Malta till the end of January so take care .from Jim McK (PD 92 K B )
donnelly -its obvious that you know NOTHING about the North Sea and you are better off staying at home in bed! Please,if you do go to sea,Dont take anyone with you!
Someone should make an inflatable cradling type of floatation device that would go under relatively small vessels, that can either be inflated with a compressor or they inflate themselves. Floatation devices could come in many shapes/designs....no reason to let a small vessel go down like that...thats stupid. Float it and tow it.
@vincent7520 am the skipper of the fishing vessel who took the video. For some unknown reason the yacht(sailing boat) filled with water and the crew couldnt get it pumped out.
@jimsanj6 no my boat is the Budding Rose PD418 built by cambletown shipyard 1991, the other boat on the video is the Lapwing PD972 she was built in cambletown 1974 as the Xmas Rose.If l remember correctly the Challenger was decommisioned and cut up in Denmark a few years ago.
its not a small yacht to sail in open waters. Every year thousnads of smaller boats sail in open water inculding atlantic/pacific crossings. Its not size thats so much the factor, its the ability of the yacht and the crew among many other factors i couldnt care to mention.
@MrFairwinds yes our boat Budding Rose PD418 was built in Campbeltown 1990.The other boat on the video Lapwing PD972 was built in Campbletown as Fraserburgh registered Xmas Rose in 1974.
someone asked why didnt we try to save the yacht .we did try to save it. we had a line on it but it broke.l wasnt going endanger my crew with puting someone aboard it!!
@yakyakyak69 Or his daughter left the fore hatch open in high seas! Sad to see a nice boat go down like that. No apparent structural damage to the rigging and sinking bow first. Taking on water. Wish I knew what happened. All souls saved so it was a good day!
You must be American - In the rest of the world a "sail boat" is always referred to as a Yacht no mater what the size of the vessel. Read up about things before assuming.
@Byreka wow buddy, your very sensitive. actually i am russian. i didnt make the comment to create argument. only an observation. i would think in most parts of the world yacht is a symbol of prestige. This sail boat does not seem to me to fit this category. no big deal.... ok... its a yacht.
i was watching from the other fishing boat Lapwing PD 972 and it was VERY strange to watch. as a fisherman i never want to see a boat go under again!!!
@vincentpdonnelly But what is a 28' boat doing in the North Sea in high seas? That's not a smart move to sail something that small into the open Atlantic. It actually looks a little longer to me, like a 33' or a 34'.
So sad :-((

Use Google and you will know that "Berserk" is not even close to that boat from this footage. "Berserk" was lost in Antarctica, not in North Sea.

If it has sails and a cabin it is a yacht. If it doesn't have sales it is a motor boat or a ship.

He either blew a thru-hull fitting or hit a submerged cargo container that fell off a ship during storm.
