What you should read is Capital. This is the in-depth material analysis of capitalism which is still used to the present day by economists on both sides of the fence, though the author also means it is censored.

I live in Canada. Trust me, free health care isnt all its cracked up to be. I can sum it up in one word: lines. You have to wait forever for everything. Government employees recieve the lions share of funding and the bureacracy is slow and expensive. Unfortunately, government is not the answer. I wish it was.

Lenin was a driven man. He often worked 17 hours a day, trying to hold the USSR together in the face of imperialist invasion and reactionary counter-revolution. He wasn't perfect, but he did what he did out of a love of humanity, a desire to create a government that wasn't just a puppet for the wealthy.

What is really sas is that Lenin used the Marxism to make an ideal society, which actually worked very well, but Stalin fucked up very early. Lenin's communism then lost its reputation and is the front figure for an opressed dictatorship. All because of Stalin. Lenin was a hero, and he should be remembered as one, instead of having those "communist madman" comments going around him. I will always think of Lenin as soon as I hear U.S.S.R. or Soviet Union, and I wish more people did that too.
@arthaskiller You should look at ssmusic214's post. Also, if you look at it, communism as expressed by Marx was never actually implemented in Russia; Lenin's communism was revisionist. Marx called for the working class to overthrow the bourgeois after capitalism had firmly entrenched itself, which had not occurred in Russia, which was very backward and still run by a tsar in 1917.
@arthaskiller (continued) The Provisional Government was only in power for about six months before being overthrown by a small class of revolutionaries (the Bolsheviks) led by Lenin. Furthermore, during the ensuing civil war (as ssmusic points out), Lenin instituted the NEP which was much more capitalist because war communism was about to make the country collapse economically.

I don't understand why so many capitalists argue that people were miserable in the Soviet Union. Did they live there? No. They just repeat what they've been told. In a poll, a couple of thousand Russians were asked when they were happiest. They could choose any time from Lenin to Putin. More than 60% said they were happiest during the Brezhnev-Chernenko times (1962-1985).

Force becomes required when you have severe inequalities like those that are an inseparable part of capitalism. You can tell a non-democracy (non-socialism) because the police need to oppress peaceful protesters to maintain the power structure, wars are started by and for the profit of the few yet fought by the many.

@ruvvjub The Communist Manifesto isn't the in-depth materialist analysis for which Socialism draws its basis of theory from; it's basically a pamphlet summarizing communist views. To compare that to any other work which is meant to be theoretical (I don't know Hayek) is moot.
What you should read is Capital. This is the in-depth material analysis of capitalism which is still used to the present day by economists on both sides of the fence, though the author also means it is censored.

In a legitimate free market, the people have a choice of who they want to do business with and the employers have to make a quality product or else they will go out of business.

The difference between a democratically controlled society and a free market republic is that the first listed operates with force and can take away the rights of 49% of the population if 51% wants to.
Voluntary exchanges are just, socialized governments are aggressive and forceful.

I live in Canada. Trust me, free health care isnt all its cracked up to be. I can sum it up in one word: lines. You have to wait forever for everything. Government employees recieve the lions share of funding and the bureacracy is slow and expensive. Unfortunately, government is not the answer. I wish it was.

The kulaks were wealthier peasants who in general did several unspeakable things, like burning grain rather than hand it over to be given to starving people. Rural people figure into the analysis and actions of several later Communist leaders more, such as Mao.

@fpscockyboi Such as norway or holland offers it sitizens much more personal freedom and freedom to choose, than countrys as Vietnam, Cuba or North Korea, and the main argument why "we are better" is that, from Norway you can travell to Cuba, but the other way very hard so. The communists simply did not manage to make a better world, and it is regretible, we could have been 500 years ahead by now, but it simply did not work and we have to accept that.

The US (very evident with Cuba) have placed massive trade embargoes on cuba and vietnam which stunted its growth only because they nationalized industries previously US owned which were used to exploit its workers beyond slavery. What is really sas is that Lenin used the Marxism to make an ideal society, which actually worked very well, but Stalin fucked up very early. Lenin's communism then lost its reputation and is the front figure for an opressed dictatorship. All because of Stalin. Lenin was a hero, and he should be remembered as one, instead of having those "communist madman" comments going around him. I will always think of Lenin as soon as I hear U.S.S.R. or Soviet Union, and I wish more people did that too.

@arthaskiller You should look at ssmusic214's post. Also, if you look at it, communism as expressed by Marx was never actually implemented in Russia; Lenin's communism was revisionist. Marx called for the working class to overthrow the bourgeois after capitalism had firmly entrenched itself, which had not occurred in Russia, which was very backward and still run by a tsar in 1917.

@arthaskiller (continued) The Provisional Government was only in power for about six months before being overthrown by a small class of revolutionaries (the Bolsheviks) led by Lenin. Furthermore, during the ensuing civil war (as ssmusic points out), Lenin instituted the NEP which was much more capitalist because war communism was about to make the country collapse economically.

@silkybob36 That's true. The tsar regime was still rather worse than Leninism, in my opinion. Stalin was known as a very hard and cruel person, but most tsars (and Nikolai the 6th) were pretty much alike him, except for the proletary system.

@silkybob36 By all means. I have been very interested in Lenin and his time, and somewhat interested in Stalin (Mostly because he was the most famous man in the Soviet Union). When talking about Lenin it's good to have knowledge about the situation before and after his regime, and as far as I know the tsars were mostly obsessed with power and looked at the people as working robots.

Human nature is to breeding,making money,ling long and good life(if its possible)and die in the end. :) Lenin was very bad person,he was bloody killer who killed over 3000000 people at minimum,and the result is death of Soviet Union cuz there was no real Union,only fear.

Well there is always somebody who wants to exploit the people in every kind of way
So in a matter of fact communism could be turned in to capitalism by the people who govern the country , regime (people).
Just like stalin did, he exploited communism fiercely and made it into something grose
Communism could work toug if there is people who are very righteous to filter out the corrupt ones.

as the murders and imprisonments and starvations were committed in the name of communism, then, yes, this was the work of communism. che was actually a child of priviledge, having gone to the finest medical schools in argentina. communism is nothing more than state sponsored servitude. and no, i'm not a "capitalist" i have spoken to many chinese, and russians in the rest home where i worked. they told me the truth about the "glory" of communism. as a result, i plan to fight it all my life..

Hitler, Stalin, and Che were all from poor backgrounds and had little to no education leading up to their rule. Now look and Lenin and Churchill, both privileged, and you see a very different leader.

I don't understand why so many capitalists argue that people were miserable in the Soviet Union. Did they live there? No. They just repeat what they've been told. In a poll, a couple of thousand Russians were asked when they were happiest. They could choose any time from Lenin to Putin. More than 60% said they were happiest during the Brezhnev-Chernenko times (1962-1985).

I'm sure you're fairly happy with your life right now. Imagine if you got some pretty bad stress like any normal person These people convinced you that you live a miserable life. They tell you that if you break away, you will be free, living a perfect life. Both sides had propaganda.

You don't want your people betraying their own country because the other side promised them a better life. That's what the Cold War was about. Who was better. It was a war of words.
