  • When I watch this video, it really shows what a good job Green Bay did in reproducing this coaster. It's a good ride and really great to have a coaster in Green Bay. Bay Beach is small compared to the mega theme parks but it's a bit of history for people here in northeastern Wisconsin.

  • I pussed out on riding this thing. I know Elvis rode it forever and ever and ever that one time, but that was almost 50 years ago.

  • Not bad for a junior woodie.

  • The Zippin Pippin in Green Bay is a nice exciting ride. I was a guest of the city and allowed access to areas of the ride to snap photos other people are not allowed to access. RCDB.COM posted 6 of the 200 photos I shot of the ride in motion on 08/18/2011

GB runs both trains on the ZP every single day regardless of rides in line to make sure both trains get even wear. They're rpoud to have it and it is only $1.00 to ride.. Another Gravity Group classic, from the John Miller Blue Prints.

  • This was the first roller coaster and only roller-coaster I was ever brave enough to ride as a kid. It wasn't very safe at all though..

  • very boring coaster. ride the Blue Fire Megacoaster!

  • @sonicdude87 then go to bay beach green bay wisconsin

  • Shutup lady!!!

  • Poor old gal.. Looks like she was on her last legs when the park closed. >: Its sad to see a John Miller ride go.

  • Just rode it yesterday at Bay Beach here In Green Bay, Wi. Was a little surprised when we caught a little air at the end of the ride.

First time riding a coaster for me since summer of '91 and I can see why LOL :)

  • I never got to ride this coaster before Libertyland shut down. =(

  • @AntaresInScorpius

Maybe some day. The deep South is a loooong way away from Green Bay and I'd have to save money for a while to get up there. I am glad though to see some of the rides survived and are still being used today.

  • HAHA ITS IN GREENBAY NOW B****S!!! jkjkjk lol

  • I just rode it in Green Bay. Fun. Lots of airtime in the last car. And the second to last hill was a surprise.

  • @rustyspigot All that is true, and ur right about the second to last hill.....it really hurts the private area :P (Green Bay FTW!)

  • haha, zipping pippin is in green bay now, memphis sux.

  • lets just say its not going to return as the same but its a revival it goes in the same directions but its a whole new coaster OK

  • the zippin pippin will be opening in green bay soon. yall come up and see it.

  • What people need to realize is the Zippin Pippin really is dead...Green Bay did not buy the coaster, they bought the NAME of the coaster...and paid (in my opinion) waaaay too much money for it considering the fact that the actual coaster once sold for $2500. But the origional coaster (seen in vid) was junk so it all went to the junkyard and the one in GB will be built compleatly new...if the city had half a brain they would have just named it something else instead of spending millions on ZP

  • @GNRAxlRose88 Tbh it's only costing us $3 million, that's still cheap if u think about it considering construction, the steel, the wood and other costs compared to others. The only thing that was junk from the original coaster here was the wood, the steel was salvageable as was the train. Apparently from Coasterforce, we're getting our wood from another defunct roller coaster Thunder Eagle. if u think about it we still didn't get half a bad deal, plus it's being constructed in record time!

  • @frenchfrey65 the structure is gone so it means its dead but heck the rcdb counts it as a casualty but if the layout is the same then darn its good for all of us

  • @GNRAxlRose88 They didn't only buy the name. They bought the original plans for the coaster for a good price. imagine, if they already had plans the only had to contract eople to build it, but if they hadn't had them it would have been much much more expensive for them to have a company completely re-engineer it or design a completyely new one.

  • Memphis can't support anything...we got rid of Libertyland, we lost the Mid-South Fair and our hockey team (Memphis Riverkings) to DeSoto County, Mississippi, our Pyramid is empty...so is our Mid-South Coliseum. We have no amusement park now and we only have 1 miniature golf course amusement place, left (Putt-Putt). We used to have several of those...Al's Golfhaven, Putt-Putt on Mt. Moriah, Celebration Station, and Bogey's. Why is everything going?

  • @Dragonlew "I agree"

Elvis'favorite ride.He would personally rent the park late nights n ride the pippin over & again

"Memories" Just like Elvis Mem has died

Folks need to stop pretending. Just look at the gang graffiti from the river well into east memphis..

Use to be just a big o'le country town and now it's a city where the average high school grad can't even read at sixth grade level. Memphis is a city under siege.

Taken over by foul mouth low wasted pant wearing hip-hop-n car jackers"

  • @frenchfrey65 There are no "E" letters in Zippin Pippin. I to am glad that a classic coaster has been saved from the wrecking ball.

  • @woodencoasterfan lol that's what i get for being from Wisconsin XD, can't even spell it right XD! All i know is that it will be treated fairly and with respect, and also an Elvis Presley theme :D, I"M SO EXCITED!

  • dude the girl doesnt stop fucking screaming in the video .. its not that bad of a ride.. try going on RAGING BULL at SIX FLAGS without screaming

  • i guess i'm late to the party but, WELCOME TO WISCONSIN ZIPPEN PIPPEN!

  • @ ankitchens08 it is the same and will be the same but they are using new wood and stuff to rebuild it. They bought the name and hisory and desigin but none of the original peices

  • The zippin pippin is now in bay beach green bay Wisconsin and was shipped and sold to here this year

  • i thought the park closed in 2005. HOW DID U POST THIS IN 2007!

  • @rollercoastermaniac2 Because I posted it.. after I shot it? It was shot in 2005.

  • i got to ride it one day before it was closed down it was my first roaler coaster ever and i will never forget it

  • Thank you for posting this video. I'll miss my beloved Pippin. :(

  • now alls we have left is dollywood :(

tear it down and I jump out my window!

  • I went on this ride while visiting my family in the south. I'm glad that I got to enjoy it while it's was sitll in Memphis! It's pretty cool that it's coming to Green Bay because that's kinda my neck of the woods ^_^

  • My great grandma was manager of the park and always gave us free tickets to go!!! the zippin pippin was my 1st rollercoaster ever!!! i was 5 and at every drop my mom would look at me and start laughing at how white my face was :)

  • This ride will reopen at Bay Beach Amusement Park in Green Bay, Wisconsin in the future. They haven't had a roller coaster at Bay Beach since 1913.

  • @SpongeStorm4000 The Green Bay City Council voted yes to this project today. I only live a mile away from Bay Beach, so I can't wait to ride that roller coaster! Supposed to be completed in May 2011.

  • It will not be the same ride. They sold pieces of the coaster but not all of it, they are using some of the wood from this coaster but it will not be the same!!

  • They started demolishing the coaster already. :(

  • FUCK NORTH CAROLINA

  • cool vid memphis is my home town I live in Indianapolis now been here 3 yrs its sad the way the city is now I lived on cochese just down the street from the mall or murder I had my good times there though was nothing like growing up in the 80's and doing the mall thing

  • It's sad that libertyland closed, but had to because it was in a dangerous part of town controlled by the thugs and closed for the same reason as the Mall of Memphis(better known as Mall of Murders) and Hickory Hill Mall.

  • Yep, isn't Memphis great?

  • @t38j19jb You mean the "Hickory Ridge Mall" ? Actually, it closed 'cause a tornado ripped through it. It's reopening, btw.

  • @t38j19jb BTW: I"m pretty sure Libertyland closed simply because of low attendance, not because of what part of town it was located.

  • this was my first rollercoaster. i cried when liberty land closed. i will always remember it<33

  • my fav Memphis ride since I was 5 yrs. old...sure do miss it...SAVE LIBERTYLAND!!

  • It was originally called the Mid-South fairgrounds, changed to Libertyland in '76. The Zippin Pippin was one of America's first wood-frame coasters, constructed in 1929.

  • best ride ever R.I.P. libertyland

  • Great ride! It's awful that the Memphis government officials got their way and closed the park. They should have moved it out to east Memphis where it could have gotten bigger and better.

  • Unfortunately, it is very expensive to move a wooden coaster.

  • I rode that ride the last year that LibertyLand wuz open! BTW its a lot scarier than it looked! It jerked me around a lot!! But it wuuz fun! R.I.P LibertyLand!

  • my dad used to work at liberty land for like 1960-2005

  • sorry about my spelling lol

i live in memphis tennesse ; ive rode that ride soo many times ; its scarier than it looks tho,,but the sold it =[ and closed libertland =[

  • i live in memphis tennessw ; ive rode that tide soo many times ; its scarier than it looks tho,,but the sold it =[ and closed libertland =[

  • i heard they sold it for about 1500

such a shame.....memphis needs somethin historical like the pippon

    not another stadium

    AND ANOTHER FORD!!!!!!!

  • that was teh oldest operating coaster in the US when they shut it down, built in 1915

  • man that thing was in bad shape

  • Thank you for that video! I love the Zippin Pippin. If I had a Pronto Pup my day would be complete.

  • this wasn't a very long ride or a very big ride, but it sure was *intense* and tossed you around a whole lot. the 2nd drop and the last turn were hell! what made it even scarier was it was so rickety that you could feel the thing moving back and forth in the wind and it felt like it could fall apart any second. it was one of the oldest coasters in the country. i hope somebody tries to save it because it really is a great and scary coaster.

  • it looks like its actually about to fall apart!

  • yeah the pippin is now gone, they closed liberty land last year, i live 10 min outside of memphis

  • I was at the park in June of 2005.

  • i want to ride this but it's being moved to california and i live in pennsylvania.

  • Nice work, C-Fan. Really enjoyed the ride myself when I got to the park during Preservation Con a few years back.

Just not enough John Miller coasters left in the world...

    P.S. Canobies DOES indeed rock!

  • Why no Canobie videos, CanobieFan? Great Excalibur vid, btw!

  • lol I have 1 Canobie Lake video added on my youtube page :P

But yeah.,. You are right most of my videos arnt from Canobie.. or even New England parks.

  • Wow, that looks like a pretty good, long ride. The second drop looks quite a bit steeper than the first, which is unique.
