I believe the song was written by Fred "August Campbell" According to one resource I checked,something about the "spur of the moment band "is mentioned.

Theres is much research around the net about the origins of the song you are correct!

There are some who claim to have heard Buffett perform the song live, I don`t know for sure, but when I first heard this song all the details I found claimed it was a Buffett song. So I do believe you may be correct! But it is such a funny song! & quite pertinent to some of the afore mentioned people known as assholes LOL

You are correct, it is Fred Cambell & the Spur of the Moment Band! To hear it, you would think it is Jimmy due to the likeness in voice. But, it is not. Jimmy has never done this song in studio or live. I have seen him 24 times, and have everything he has ever put out, and this is not one of them.

It is a great song none the less and is very pertinent to all known Assholes everywhere! Thankfully, we are not one of them! HA!!!!!
