  • I KNOW A GUY WHO BEHAVES LIKE THIS MAD,VIOLENT CHARACTER THAT JONATHON WINTERS PLAYS.HE DOES THE ROUNDS IN THE A.C.T BUT IS NOT AS

VIOLENT AS THIS MAN IN THE FILM.

    romanalsacelorraine@yahoo.com

  • Listen guys, your gettin out of line. classic

  • Those guys trying to escape by rolling under the garage door was classic.

  • They don't write em like that anymore - funniest ever.

  • the 2 dislikes are Ray and Irwin lol

  • i love this so darn funny

  • And no bad words anywhere.

  • Why don't they do crazy stuff like this in movies anymore? This is hilarious.

  • Laughin like a maniac at 7am. Thank you.

  • ray and irwin are played by arnold stang and marvin kaplan - arnold stang was the voice of Top Cat and marvin was the voice of Choo Choo - from the Top Cat cartoons

  • Irwin, we're gonna have to kill him!

  • I feel so sorry for Ray and Irwin. -_-

  • I'm sort of hoping Winters outlives all the other treasure hunters.

  • My absolute favorite movie!

  • @abelinkinpark Mine too, No matter what, I always could laugh through this one. Reminds me of my dysfunctional family!

  • So funny I can't believe it!

  • "Put me down! Put me down immediately!" HA! HA! HA!

  • Winters and Silver are epic in this scene.

  • he is one of the characters out of topcat! do some telly history, topcat was sgt bilko in animation.

    best movie ever made!

  • listen at 4:23 the second time the guy says "ready", he sound just like one of the charecters out of Topcat....

  • With Dorothy Provine dying last year death a few months back, I think Sid Caesar, Johnathan Winters, and Mickey Rooney are the only main members of the cast still alive. Arnold Stang, too. Surviving cameo appearances include Jerry Lewis and Carl Reiner. I'm sure 1 or 2 of the other supporting cast members are still alive, but I don't think anybody else whose name is well known. But it's almost 50 years old so what can you expect? Shame though. Best ensemble comedy ever. Hands down.

  • i love how everything breaks so easily xD

  • Marvin Kaplan and Arnold Stang are the gas station guys. Funniest scene in a very funny movie.

  • Funny stuff. "Thats the way you want it!?" Laughing the whole time.

  • "I am going to get sore" My favorite line "we are going to have to kill him" Like there is no other way to stop him. jonathan winters was hilarious. Every one was funny. I seen this in the theater when it first came out. there really was't an dull moment. I like the idea of mini paired up comedy teams they played off of each other so well one of the best comedy movies.

  • Absolutely THE FUNNIEST sequence ever to be put on film! BTW- I heard that the cast went to lunch and forgot poor Winters was still tied to the chair.

  • Are they are gonna remake this movie?? Wow. Wont be ANYWHERE close to how funny and awesome this movie was. Pretty sad so many of the actors are dead..i would love to tell them how great this movie was.

  • I heard that a oil CO who drove by the set before the destruction, thought this was his gas station . He almost had a heart attack when he drove back after this filmed and saw the destruction of this set afterwards.

  • @doginstine That is too funny!

  • I lose sleep over the chance that the mentally ill "writers" who infest Hollyweird today will attack us with a "remake" of this classic before an asteroid has a chance to destroy our planet & save us from it. Half the characters will be gay, the wives will be activist lawyers, all the "chases" will be in Priuses driving 5mph under the limit and the group will wait a month in the park for an environmental impact study before being allowed to dig & getting jailed for trans-fat possession.

  • @reprobacious amen to that.

  • @reprobacious Well said! I have the same gripes about Hollywood. After some of the other remakes I've seen lately, I shudder to think what they would do to this gem. I am extremely dissatisfied with the treatment they are giving the timeless entertainment we had back in the 60s. They are taking the good ideas of our generation and shredding them while, all the time, thinking they are improving them.

  • @reprobacious: There was a supposed remake in 2001 called 'Rat Race', with John Cleese and a host of other well known names. And yes, you guessed it, it was awful and bombed !

  • @reprobacious They did actually do a remake of sorts, Rat Race is similar.

  • @reprobacious I've long thought this one should be made into a broadway musical, but it would be hard to adapt

  • @reprobacious No doubt, I'm embarrassed that this pretentious, yuppie, hackie wannabe comedy was ever made in the 1st place.

  • I'm glad they did good product placement in this movie. It is interesting seeing familiar products like Pennzoil and Coca Cola from that time. it almost gives this zany comedy a sense of realism.

  • 2 nerds running a gas station lol

  • Ah, my favorite line of the film from when I was a kid--

SO! Somebody'll stumble over the little girl's bicycle in the dark, huh? Wehhhhl, when I finish with you they'll be stumblin' over YOU in the dark!

  • @reprobacious I will agree with you on that one! It's hilarious.

  • epic.

  • THE best scene of the movie! I laughed so hard for so long tears flowed from my eyes UP AND UNTIL THE FINAL PUNCH! Talk about physical comedy?

Look me up I'm in the book, Dr. Zilman. ROFLMAO @ Phil Silver! :O)

  • @JeffmChicago I completely agree. I've had the same experience - several times.

  • And where's that bumm with the glasses?

  • @robertmark34

Agreed. Nor could the Hollywood of today assemble anything close to the comic quality and star power of this movie. This was truly a special movie made at the perfect time.

Though the Hollywood of today is very good at WORTHLESS remakes.

  • @pajasa62 with exception of The Crazies and True Grit

  • Great flick, I watched it on TV with my dad on TV in the 70's and my 16-year-old boy can now recite dialogue from the film. He especially likes J. Winters and Dick Shawn. It's generational. I never saw my late, great dad laugh so hard.

  • Not quite as mad as today I'm afraid.

    Loved the movie!

  • HULK SMASH!!!!

  • I freaking love this movie. All through this movie i just had a humongous smile on my face because this movie was brilliant and wildly amusing. Hope they make a comedy on this scale sometime soon, 'cause all the comedy today is depressing

  • @adrianlindsaylohan They tried many years ago with a train wreck called Rat Race. You will NEVER see a movie like this ever again. Why tamper with a classic?

  • @aa4285 I didn't say remake this movie, I said make something on this scale again - wild script, interesting characters, huge talented cast, different locations, dangerous stunts, funny situations, large budget .......

  • @adrianlindsaylohan I understand what you are saying..I meant to say that to try to make a movie with such a stellar cast would never happen again. Hollywood today is too stuck up self centered. Just to put together a cast with the firepower as Mad World would cost double that of making Avitar on salary alone. The comedians then had a true respect for one another and had no trouble "sharing" the screen and allowing each member their moment. Hollywood is just not the same anymore.

  • @aa4285 It is possible to get a cast on that level. Look at Valentine's day (2010), the cast was huge with names like Julia Roberts, Jessica Alba, Bradley Cooper, Taylor Swift, Taylor Lautner, George Lopez, Queen Latifa, Anne Hathaway, Jamie Foxx, Ashton Kutcher ...... It is possible. And Hollywood back then wasn't much different than it is today. There's often a lot of back stage drama back then, and now. They did fuss over screen time, and they did fuss over salary.

  • HAHAHA...it's so unnecessary.. yet it's so very very hilarious! :D

  • That is one fragile gas-station.

  • best comedy EVER!!!!

  • This is one of the funniest movies of all time. I watch it at least once a year and still laugh like a drunken monkey every time.

  • Walls as thin as paper.

  • How does a guy tear a car door right off it's hinges?

  • That's the worst example of JW "humor" ever! It's so far from what he ordinarily does so well that it defies description.

    baldinifan

  • That's the worst example of JW "humor" ever! It's so far from what he ordinarily does so well that it defies description.

  • the greatest movie no one's ever heard of

  • So did Tim Allen build this gas station?

  • @3123Alpha LMAO. No, Norm Abrams.

  • Hah! Best scene in the movie......blu.

  • Comment removed

  • Whoever built the gas station was a really crappy architect xD

  • I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!! XDDDD

  • lmaoooooooo one of the best scenes in a movie EVER

  • @Mrdagreatness That's for sure! Best scene ever!

  • lolololololool

  • One of the funniest movies ever made and what awesome cast !

  • i laghft so hard after waching

this i had to take a crap :D

  • James Rolfe (aka the Angry Video Game Nerd) has said that "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World" is his #1 favorite movie, and that this particular scene is his favorite scene from any film! Seeing it now, I can see why!

  • This was the most hilariously funny thing I'd ever seen when I was a kid. I was in tears.

  • DEMOLISHION DERBY!

My 2nd-ever favorite comedy. 1st is 'Arsenic and Old Lace.' But this one comes awfully close!

Cheers for the upload - I needed a laugh today, and I got one.

  • Jonathan Winters, Ethel Merman & Phil Silvers were the funniest ones in this movie. Their comic genius made this movie funny. The movie "Rat Race" tried to copy this movie around 2002-2003 but their version never came close to "It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World." You can't remake perfection in movies.

  • This is why you should never build a gas station out of balsa wood.

  • Listen to the voices of the garage proprietors. Top Cat and Chooch.

  • @Cool2BCeltic I believe they did a lot of cartoon voices. Maybe Flintstones, Jetsons Yogi Bear. I hear a ton of characters.

  • One of the greatest scenes from any movie, ever.

  • You will NEVER put together a cast like this one EVER AGAIN!! Comedy today is nothing like it was in the day of the true comic actors and actresses.

  • @aa4285 We were lucky; The comice actors of that day were real working class & their characters were generally well defined so much that we could appreciate them that much more.

  • I love Jonathan Winters!

  • This is probably the funniest scene in comedic film history .

  • the best movie ever

  • best part about this scene...they just opened this week! xD

  • @alliebug42 exactly!

  • The funniest fight scene in the movies. Maybe the most

    destructive too.

I'm so old I saw this film when it was new. And it's still

    just as funny.

    Tnx 4 the great post.

  • @rockgor I think the first Blues Brothers has it beat in destruction.

  • LMAO @ when he runs himself through the wall and desk.

  • Oh no!!! It's that lunatic!! The one who escaped from the asylum!!! LOL!!!!

  • everything is like paper.

  • @KevxMeister actully cardbourd

  • LOL He completely leveled that gas station in one shot.

  • ROFLMAO

  • that ius one fragile gas station

  • @WARMAKER1814 - LOL!

  • I absolutely love that he stops mid-destruction to tell them that THEY are getting out of line, haha

  • @kinglaffo The person who aproved that place to be built was out of line to let it be so easily destroyed by one man. Hahaha oh youtube... you make me chuckles.

  • @kinglaffo me too in fact he warned the gas attendants several times but they refuse to heed his warnings. LOL!

  • What the gas station attentive are thinking ``Oh why did i make the gas station out of paper``

  • My favorite line as a kid:

SO! Somebody'll stumble over the little girl's bicycle in the dark huh? Well when I finish with you they'll be stumbling over YOU in the dark!

  • HELP! THE WHOLE SET IS MADE OF CARDBOARD!

  • phil silvers is awsome in this scene, hate complex lmao

    boomcc1

  • Jonathan Winters is a veritable Hulk.

  • Arguably, one of the funniest scenes in the movie!

  • @JOHNSTAGS

The funniest scene in the movie. i remember crying with laughter the first time i saw it. Phil Silvers was brilliant at the begin.

  • I know! I LMAO'd the entire time.
