One other reason for strange absence of Korean win in the past Asian Cups has to do with the Korean FA's commitment to the cup events, or lack there of. Koreans never really emphasized Asian Cup as their primary objectives, because there weren't any real monetary gains or bragging rights from the event. Part of that probably was because of these regional favoritism we saw in this Asian Cup. I could definitely see AFC referees favoring one team from the other based on monetary contributions.

Let me reiterate the point that this Asian Cup was rigged. First, grouping was a total joke, having Australia, Korea and Bahrain in group C, and Iran, Iraq and North Korea in group D. All of these six teams have always given Japan hellish matches, and these sneaky AFC officials clearly knew it. In overall A Match Record, Korea has the significant edge. Korea has placed highest in Asia in World Cup finishes with a fourth place finish in 2002. Yes, Japan is better when it comes to the AFC Asian Cup, but its not like South Korea sucks at it. South Korea has 2 championships, 3 runners up, and 4 third places.

Taking a close look at Japanese team, the only decent player out of the entire team is Nagatomo. I'd give "good hustle" rating for the golie, too. But talent wise, Nagatomo is the only one, and certainly not Honda. This Japanese team has been riding on a coattail of the referees throughout the entire Asian Cup tournament. Japan should've lost to Korea if it wasn't for that outrageous penalty kick. Just take a look at 5:30. Now, tell me if that was a legitimate penalty foul.

@NewNip1 Definitely a foul, but where was it? I'd support the ref's decision, he had a better angle than we do. Looks like it was committed on the line of the penalty area, which is considered inside.

Do you support the referee's original decision or his "change-of-heart" decision? You and I agree on one thing though: referee had a pretty good angle when the foul happened. And yet, this sneaky guy took the linesman's decision instead of his own. For god's sake, the line referee was 3 times farther than where he was standing. That's the reason we can't trust these Asian Cup officials anymore. They had trouble with finances and Japan provided the money. That's the bottomline.

Here's the bottom line. The only team that outplayed Australia in this Asian Cup was the Korean team. Just ask the Austrlian head coach if you have any doubts. Japan was damn lucky to score that goal from Tadanari Lee, who is lo and behold a Korean. Otherwise, the championship could've (and shoul've) gone to Australia. You Jap. people need to stop donating so much money to AFC, so Korea can play these tournaments on level field.

I saw this Asian Cup for the first time on Internet. After seeing one bad call after another, I'm led to believe that officiating standard of Asian Cup is far worse than the World Cup. There's no way Japan should've won this asian cup, and I'm not sure all other 3 wins were set up like this one, by Japan's dirty bribe money. While Korea had bad call after a bad call against them in every matches, Japan benefitted from the bad calls in all of their matches. I doubt it was a coincidence?

One other reason for strange absence of Korean win in the past Asian Cups has to do with the Korean FA's commitment to the cup events, or lack there of. Koreans never really emphasized Asian Cup as their primary objectives, because there weren't any real monetary gains or bragging rights from the event. Part of that probably was because of these regional favoritism we saw in this Asian Cup. I could definitely see AFC referees favoring one team from the other based on monetary contributions.

Since the inception of Asian cup .Korea won twice back in 1956 and 1960 with only 4 team r invited in the competion,most Gulf states r stay out because of Israeli present.....nearly half a centuary later ...Japan won 4X,Iran & Saudi won 3X with Iraq & Kuwait won one each..all this winners have something in common ...they have big heart and handle pressure ..whereas china,uzbeckistan and korea r all chokers!!!!

I saw the flag for very brief moment, too. Watch out for these sneaky Jap. people though. They actually have several versions of these flags with "waves". Imperial flag has 16 waves and their current "Defense Force" flag has 8 waves. From a far distance, it's very tough to distinguish the two. This is just one good example of how sneaky these Jap. people are. All Koreans and Chinese people are well aware of Jap. people's cunning behaviors, which trace back to 2,000 years.

Most Asian countries including Korea and China truly wanted Aussies to win the cup. Many non-Asians may have trouble understanding the intra-Asia angst. But if you ask any non Japanese Asians, they will most likely give you a very quick answer. They all dislike Japanese cheats and losers. From the beginning, Jap. team had a free ride all the way to the semifinals against tired Korean team. And, in the tough match against Korea, the referees awarded one of the most ridiculous penalty kicks I've seen in years to Japan with only 15 minutes left in the game. Did AFC officials want Japan to win this cup? Of course they did, so they could get more endorsements and dirty Jap. money during the next Asian Cup. Isn't that obvious? Koreans should just send their U-21 team next time around.

Let me reiterate the point that this Asian Cup was rigged. First, grouping was a total joke, having Australia, Korea and Bahrain in group C, and Iran, Iraq and North Korea in group D. All of these six teams have always given Japan hellish matches, and these sneaky AFC officials clearly knew it. On the contrary, none of the teams in groups A and B were any threat to Japan in the recent competitions. Hammam of AFC wanted to raise "big cash" and Japanese market provided every penny he needed.

I have a piece of information about Japan. The United Nations has done some research and identified Japan as the only country in the world with "deep and profound" racism in its society. Here's the double whammy. The Japanese government has repeatedly denied the fact and refused to do anything about the country's rampant racism. That just proves many racist behaviors coming from these poorly educated Japanese nationals on Youtube.
