This is a great film for a brilliant song - Chris de Burgh is much maligned but is actually a composer of some excellent songs if you can just look past Lady in Red which doesn't do him justice compared to works like this and "Snow is Falling"

I didn't get what this song actually is pointing at: is he in favor of seeking freedom, or is he against as an aesoteric concept that doesn't feed bread or bring rain in the end? Was he at last convinced of his son's sacrifice, and his son's endeavor?
I think the true freedome comes after we get rid of our greed .till then there will be war ,sufering and pain. self contentment one get after getting rid of one's greed at least to a certain extent is so fantastic.even in this ego driven age it's not a very dificult thing to achive. one dosen't have to be a Buddhist to achive it. all you need to learn is to let go of the greed little by little till you get to the inner hapiness

This is a great film for a brilliant song - Chris de Burgh is much maligned but is actually a composer of some excellent songs if you can just look past Lady in Red which doesn't do him justice compared to works like this and "Snow is Falling"

I didn't get what this song actually is pointing at: is he in favor of seeking freedom, or is he against as an aesoteric concept that doesn't feed bread or bring rain in the end? Was he at last convinced of his son's sacrifice, and his son's endeavor?

I think the true freedome comes after we get rid of our greed .till then there will be war ,sufering and pain. self contentment one get after getting rid of one's greed at least to a certain extent is so fantastic.even in this ego driven age it's not a very dificult thing to achive. one dosen't have to be a Buddhist to achive it. all you need to learn is to let go of the greed little by little till you get to the inner hapiness

weird that people voted this down. I agree, you are correct. Human ego will try to hold you down from awkened consciousness. It will be an inner battle. Greed, trinkets, bobbles....are all worthless.
