comcast has terrible customer service, especially on phone and in-person. Comcast has been accused of helping music and movie industry spying on subscribers through the use of bit-torrent and u-torrent. Once you get caught dling illegal stuff you shouldnt do. Comcast will readily throw you to the wolves.

Well I'm a poot pooting along at...... ok I'm not sure? But our local shaw broadband provider just sent out some promo offers of this new HighSpeed of 50Mbps of download speed, plus basic 60 channel cable & phone all in one package for $65. a month for the first 6 months, then $99. a month after. But my laptop is a Vaio1.2ghz - 32gbp. Hopefully in a couple weeks I'll be updating to a 1.9ghz 64gbp Windows 7 (I'm looking at a HP D7 Laptop. Its AMD but I don't mind one bit, yes quad core). \:)

I think internet here in south korea is much cheaper and faster than the us. there are 4 internet companies that i can use right now there are a lot of compatition, and i get 100mbit/s for about 30 bucks a month and i really get about 97mbit/s. plus, if you use a 3 year contract, you get 200 bucks cash.

In the uk DSL is the main type of internet and if you get over 6mbps then its classed as good but fiber is coming and it will be £18 a month + line rental witch is about £12 but at the moment only offering up to 40mbps

I have comcast, and the reason I can complain is because in the Greater Atlanta Area there is nothing faster. AT&T charges you more when you hit their caps which are lower than Comcast caps. I've been over the cap a few times so far and have not recieved a phone call luckily, but I find it extremely frustrating that I have to limit what I use my connection for. I agree that there needs to be more ISP's, and ones that do not have caps and all this BS.

I recently switch from ATT DSL ( 6mbps tier) to ATT Uverse ( 12 mbps tier ) and I couldn't be happier. ATT Uverse is suposely Fiber until it reachs a Node, then it reliase on old copper telephone lines. But still, I get now the double the speed and most importantly it's pretty reliable all the time!

It's called a monopoly. It's due to what happened with the Federal Government in the 1990s called "The Social Contract" which helped cable companies become competitive, and Comcast was a small one, that was highly competitive, and cheap, then bought up it's competition.

They're also due to be broken up soon, and so is AT&T ...AGAIN

over here in the UK we have pretty good competition, virgin with their optic cable networks and BT with ADSL2. BT have recently moved onto FTTB in most cities, not quite where I live which is ANNOYING. But if i wanted a faster speed i could get 50mbps/5mbps Rx/Tx like my mates have for not too much with virgin. I'm happy with bethere.co.uk tho, ping <20ms usual speed about 18mbps/1mbps less than £20 a month.

I'm going to have better internet connection at my university, all I can say about Talktalk is - wow you guys need to improve.... their customer service sucks, they upgrade their services too much- which can lead to the internet being down for a whole day or two (sometimes even a week!) and they lie about their speeds

Same is the case here in India. There's no competition to BSNL (govt. ISP) nobody's near to BSNL when it comes to penetration & broadband speed.
