  • one of the greatest, if not, the greatest song of chicago! a classic.... more beautiful than "you're the inspiration" and " hard to say i'm sorry"....

  • Fantastic, Bill! Thanks for all you and Chicago have given us all these years!

  • look away......

  • i love this song its a sad on though

  • i love this song

  • YEAH, BILL, THE CROWD WASN'T INTO THAT ONE AT ALL! STILL MY FAVORITE!

  • very nice song!!

  • If you like Bill Champlin look up Tke Sons of Champlin a San Fransico group from the late 60s...............

  • GREAT VERSION

  • I just noticed that this song is now available through iTunes off of Bill's 2009 album No Place Left To Fall. It is also available on Rhapsody. I am not sure when it became available.

  • god i love this song always have makes me think of the one i let slip through my fingers sometimes when youre looking for love it is sometimes right before your eyes it was for me dedicate this song to my sweet heart Brittany Sayers ,will always love ya babe,Garth

  • I really like this version a lot . .

Does anyone know where I can get the chords for this song?

  • @stavrophotography Did you ever get the chords?

  • @tdolka

    No

  • I never thought I'd say this, but Champlin isn't half-bad in this. He normally sounds like he's got a mouth full of gravel and adds more grace notes than BJ Thomas. This is far better than their rock version of this song. So glad to see him gone. Keith is a welcome addition to this band. He's the one replacement they've gotten right. Now if Scheff would just find the door, they might be able to get back to their glory years when the instruments AND the vocals were great.

  • Yeah, when Champlin isn't over-singing (or just bored), he can crank out some damn good stuff. Search out his Sons of Champlin song "Time Will Bring You Love". Champlin at his best!

  • Keith is awesome!!

  • Man... These are such good songs.... the music now doesn't have that same soul as it had back in the day.... used to listen to this song all the time growing up...

  • This is COOL!! Bill is awesome!!!

  • This is a really wonderful version. All-time classic.

  • I remember this song from when I was 8, I love this still.

  • I prefer this version FAR better than the cheesefest 80's version. Bill actually takes a generic Diane Warren song and makes it interesting with this acoustic version.

  • This is a great rendition of this song. Bill controls his inner diva, the both guitars sound great together, and it is from my third favorite Chicago album (19) after (2) and (1 CTA)

  • aztecdog, I laughed outloud at your comment! :D

I liked Chicago, but apparently not this particular version of "Look Away". Ah well, maybe I'll keep digging around. Sorry, Bill.

  • "look away" is a "GREAT" song a cappela. seriously "Great" love songs will always stand the test of time. Diane Warren is a fabulous writer.

  • This version doesn't mean new or better version then the studio one. This is just something different. But I have to admit it. The studio version is more intense. I like that better. Bill is great but not really the best on live performance sorry I love him but it's true.

  • Great performance!

  • good song, but damn, whomever this song is for is pathetic, dust yourself off and move on,

  • key brasil,oh dupla perfeita amo esses caras,

  • Bands need to stop being afraid of the songs they wrote...and stop changing them as time goes by...Just becuz it's not the 80's anymore does not mean "Look away" won't sound good with it's keyboard intro

Sorry guys, you need to stop disrespecting your own songs by altering them just becuz the times tell you too

  • Howland is the best guitarplayer in Chicago, wow amazing person.,..

  • I've seen this before, but I needed to add iit to my favorites. One song, sung in so many different ways.... In this case, two amazing talents, two stars and a five star performance.

  • Look away accoustic??

I need the keyboard intro... sorry

  • i have to agree. while i enjoy this version of the song, without the keyboard it just isn't the same

  • Another thing is NO ONE knows what song he is playing til he starts singing becuz the keyboard was the signature intro to the song

  • i can't believe its still top in my list :)

  • Bill Champlin's voice is so powerfully sexy in the recording of that song.

  • WOW! This is awesome!

  • this is great times i million. bill i love this one.

  • That was beautiful. I am a huge Bill fan but didn't realize he played the guitar. Thanks to youtube I'm seeing things I never would've otherwise. I think he's got a soulful voice that just adds to the diversity of the band. Is this from the Japan '95 tour? He sang FREE which just knocked my socks off. Chicago has always been evolving and some people can't accept the changes but I think they remain to be great and my all time favorite. Thanks for this great post!

  • Yes, this video is from the Japan 1995 tour. Good comment. Thanks for posting, DrDave!

  • BEST SONG EVER

  • I hope, I hope on the 08 tour, this is acoustic and he doesn't do the 19 hits medley.....there are so many other songs in his book that would blow any audience away

  • why have I missed this one? Lovely. The harmonies on the guitars are stunning. Nice video. Thanks for posting it :)

  • And don't forget that's current Chicago maestro guitar player Keith Howland on the other guitar/vocals...He had recently joined the band...:-)

  • BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO! Thanks for posting this! I hadn't heard the acoustic version in AGES! The acoustic version is sooooooo much more beautiful than the electric version.

    Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great performance!!! I love these guys!!!

  • Wonderful Song and a brilliant Performance!!

  • Excellent..I really enjoyed this one. Bill is quite impressive here. The more videos I watch of this guy the more he grows on me.

  • love this!

  • thing about Bill, and I've had the pleasure to meet him on occasion, is that he is a genuinely good guy, who believes in good music. At his stage in life, he's already got a grammy, he's got the Sons going too. I guess I'm biased, I think he's the best thing going, and would give a mint to just sit around with him in a studio and jam and have a good time.

  • I really dont care much for Bill Champlin but he does really deserve his recognition for what he contributes to the band. He really does add a lot and I admire him for his talent. Actually I think if he had a high tenor voice, he would probably have been a good replacement for Cetera aside from the bass thing. The man is talented that's no joke.

  • is this in japan?

  • Yes.

  • It's nice to finally see Bill's "humbler" side.

  • Thanks for posting Juan! One of my favs...never saw Keith sing back up on it!

  • Great stuff once again-

    Gracias! Please keep them coming!

  • Thanks for posting! This is one of my favorite songs of all time, and it's so much fun to play!
