My '96 still has its original 5.9. Approaching 200,000 miles and still going strong. But the Hemi would be better on fuel economy, a little better on power (however the 360's torque rating is only a little less than the 5.7). The only actual engine I'd replace the 360 with, though, is the 390 Hemi.found in the new Challengers and Chargers. 425 HP from an engine not much physically bigger than the 360 and its 250HP. Even so, nice job.
@StaArius The 6.1 Hemi in the SRT8 your talking about is a 370 and it's "rumored" to be a 392 in the 2011 model years for the SRT8 only. I have a Gen III hemi thats stroked to a 426 with a 6-71 blower I'm getting ready to put in my 96 Ram. Can't wait

i mean i didnt really have to change alot (other then new support bolts for the hemi) because the hemi isnt that much bigger then the magnum but i did have to change the tranny and the diff. cause its a 96 and its not built to take that much torch. you can see how much torch it is when i rev it, it jumps the whole car, i dont know if you can hear it well but you can hear the brakes slide when i rev it up
oh hell yeah, the new hemi was built to be fast in a heavier truck then the 96, so my truck is faster then any other truck with a hemi. plus it doesnt use that much gas because it doesnt have to work that hard to move my truck.
and it was also funny haveing people think i have just a magnum in it but in turn its a hemi, so i surprise alot of people on the road.

1. Your 5.9 is really not stock and the hemi was.
2. It wasn't really a hemi.
3. It had a bad gear ratio like 3.21

My '96 still has its original 5.9. Approaching 200,000 miles and still going strong.
