Installing Windows Vista on the Eee PC 1000H - will it work?

single core atom is phasing out probably due to the internet application is getting way much more complicated than the HTML only content that the "netbook" can handle.

dam people, the reason I buy Eee 1000H because of the XP, if 1000H load with vista, I don't even bother to look at it. My Vaio Sony 17" 3GB of RAM, 320GB HDD, NVIDIA 8600 with vista home pre. and it is slow like hell. I can't downgrade to XP because I can't find graphic drive.

Maybe Windows Vista Home Basic is better for eee pc, coz i've read a lot of reviews about running vista on eee pc, and they said that it really works but the whole system is very slow... that's accrding to them though. I'm running xp sp3 on mine and planning to run a vista on it but i'm still looking for someone who really tried vista on eee pc.

You need to install drivers, otherwise of course you're going to get a 1.0 vista rating, the actual intel thing inside it is capable of using the dx10 apis

A program? Not a chance there. It's a stand-alone OS. And no, it's not more stable then XP.

I use Vista and it's fine with me. I'm not about to argue the merits of Vista vs XP. I've used XP before and it's a fine program. To each his own. One thing I find is that if you install Vista it will find updated drivers automatically. Enjoy your XP but please don't preach the merits because I've already experienced how each one works.

Once again, my comment was just lecturing you to not refer to Windows Vista as a program. Because it's a stand-alone OS. And Windows Vista is a lot more unstable, a recent study has shown that Vista shows the (Does not respond) about 30 percent more then XP. Aswell as the BSOD that appears a lot more often on Vista.

I use both Vista and XP and I like them A LOT, both of them. But congratulations for assuming that I was a XP-fanboy/retard XD.

I have Vista, and let me tell you, my old desktop was an XP, and I had to do a complete reboot about 5 times, because it kept getting messed up.

Now I have my vista laptop, berley any problems have come up, it's fast, and I actually prefer the look of it to XP...

It is nice to know that vista can run on atom platforum. However, I won't consider installing it on vista. the Operating system is extreemly slow with a standard dual core laptop so installing it on an atom will be like shooting my self on the foot.

well 3DMark06 wasn't designed for Vista, but it does run fine under vista, they are currently working on a vista version that will do directx10, and you don't need a blueray drive to install vista, but its nice to be able to watch blueray films, or burn blueray disks, and why would you install 64bit and expect it to work on a Asus Eee PC?, 32bit is fine, but at the rate hardware is going, i expect us to be using 64bit in the next few years, and there is nothing wrong with vista,
