This lineup has a vibe similar to that of "Hymn To The Seventh Galaxy"--grittier, looser, more adventurous than the first Elektric Band, which always sounded to me more like five phenomenal individuals playing down Chick's charts and occasionally taking solos. To be fair to both bands, it sounds like Chick designed Elektric Band II to be more interactive and less orchestrated, which allowed for a lot more spontaneity and group interplay. Just my own opinion...
mike miller's solo is outstanding - on the album and even here live! like it. btw he has done some work with steve wingard - does anybody know if they recorded something together? (cause here on youtube there are some live videos ... at least one i know of :)
Mike is an amazingly creative guitarist who should be better known! I saw him play with Brand X in 1978 and he was frighteniongly brilliant back then!

I saw Mike Miller play with Brand X at the Paradise Rock Club in 1978... All I can say is he sounds MUCH MUCH better 16 years later
