  • That's almost frighteningly impressive considering they're not using rotation or leg driving and basically arming it/

  • that's a crazy long start. they did 60 strokes for their start before they lengthen their stroke.

  • @1:37 suko ka na?

  • MONSTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Takteng yan batak ang Upperbody nyan suntukan kau nyan sagwanin mga muka nyo!!

  • sour graping???..Go Philippines!!!

  • holy crap

  • one zero :)

  • Cantonese guys with filipino accents?

  • preety beast

  • damn these guys are buff... they can just rely on their arm and shoulders to achieve that kind of speed.... though... isn't that going to cause injuries? I love the second guy on the right (port side) is so buff he doesn't even use his core, other guys have their hands down to keep up, he's just cruising.

  • that is fuckin fast. yo!

  • I think .... the'yd have to turn the boat around so i can pick my arms up (that fell into the river while paddling).. Tough as nails those guys!

  • I have trained with these guys. They are super-fit and paddle with more heart than a lot of teams ive come across in my years of state, national and international dragonboat racing. The boat IS really heavy (i helped to build them) and the paddles too. RESPECT!

I'm really looking forward to being back on the water with them in a couple of months.

  • as a former flatwater canoer i gotta say dragonboat is the EASIEST most pussiest paddle sport i've ever done. it's super easy coming from a flatwater background. I got PAID to go to malyasia for the 2008 club crew worlds and we came second, the other guys who paddled flatwater we got drunk every night and raced hungover, don't let anyone fool you that dragonboat is hard

  • @fight4honor said like a true champion bro

  • @suenfengloong hey it's true, the winning crew, mayfair...exact same thing, canada dominates at dragonboat, 2008 was 1,2,3, all canadian crews on the podium

  • @fight4honor flatwater canoer. Flatwater. FLATWATER. The fuck, have you actually ever trained in a real first place team? Don't go around talking shit. Some honor you're fighting for. Get outta here.

  • @iStyleZ415 umm yeah 2008 club crew worlds in penang...team chiro from canada oh look at the a boat with ex-flatwater paddlers brought home silver, and mayfair also a crew from canada came first...i've got the medals to back it up

  • @fight4honor LOL at using a CCWC as some kind of benchmark. The true test is an IDBF world championship (i.e Tampa this year).

  • @sydneydragonblades lmao i wont even go near dragonboat again it's such an embarrassing sport!!!! for one it's easy, for two technique timing and intensity is about half of a flatwater warcanoe or an ICF C4! do this for 10 years then tell me the difference between dragonboat and flatwater, there's a crew in canada that puts ALL flatwater paddlers in a dragonboat for the ottawa festival every year, they've never lost and they don't train

  • @iStyleZ415 look up c-1 olympics 1000 metres, get on one knee in a boat thats takes years to even stay up in then steer yourself 1000 metres going all out by paddling on one side then tell me dragonboat is harder...that's all i'm saying it doesn't compare to olympic canoeing training

  • @fight4honor Bro, if you think dragon boat is all about difficultly, you are goddamn wrong. I'm not going to argue with you about which is harder, because I have never tried canoeing before, but being part of a dragon boat team is much more than just being physically strong. Our team is like fucking family. We work hard together bro, on land and on water. And again, I'm not going to say you can't handle our training, but I can say that we work fucking hard.

  • @fight4honor We take pride in our sport. We are strong physically and mentally. But you don't see us going around and talking shit about Crew or Canoeing like you guys do. Real athletes don't do that shit. Keep that in mind.

  • @fight4honor And I looked up the c-1 olympics thing like you said. That's what we do for time trials to see how much we've improved individually. We're also high schoolers. Just saying.

  • @iStyleZ415 I honestly do not know where you got the idea that you do flatwater canoeing as time trials for dragonboat. Your channel says you're from the US, and I can say from first hand experience that the US flatwater community is weak. Furthermore, dragonboat has tried numerous times to become a part of CanoeKayak Canada, but has been denied everytime. I'm not saying you can be fit and train hard and love what you do, but don't try to sell that bullshit about how you do c1 for time trials

  • @JaredDecimusMeridius When I say time trials, it's not the competitive time trial aight. It's a thing we do in the team. Think about pulling that whole fucking boat by yourself, you can't exactly do that, so we trial on canoes. Calm your tits bro. But this disrespect shit for dragonboat thats bullshit. I'm not selling bullshit bro. We don't canoe for time trials during a race. We use actual dragonboats for it. We clear? We're the best 18U dragonboat team in the US.You dont see us talking shit.

  • @iStyleZ415 Yeah I understand the concept of time trials and measuring individual improvement. I'm saying that I find it hard to believe that we're talking about the same kind of flatwater canoeing that you say you do for time trials.

  • @JaredDecimusMeridius i think he's talking about outrigger like mot people use in canada, and what's your 500 time? istyle? 2k time? and 200 time?

  • @fight4honor i know for sure it's not and outrigger canoe. time for the canoe or dragonboat?

  • @iStyleZ415 Just so we're not confused, it's sprint canoeing fight4honor was talking about, not that marathon sitting down crap.

  • They got switch side in order to equally train their arms and all right?

  • Rowing is more intense than this

  • @24dickstionarys then you have no idea what dragon boat racing is then.

  • @DBKulas do you?

  • @24dickstionarys yes! I was on U-18 US National team that when to Prague for the 2009 Dragon boat world championship....

    Are you on team usa

  • @DBKulas good 4 u

and no, om not on team usa

  • Nice the guys in the boat got bruce lee like bodies.

  • ffffff... these guys are riiipped

  • pretty fast rate

  • Legs and rotation are both used in that stroke, but the rate suggests that they aren't being used to full extent. Looks like a pretty fast team there.

  • was that a full 500m?

  • i wonder how fast theyre going if they arent twisting or pushing with their legs

  • that boat looks like it weight 2 tons

  • @Garagetuner1 no its only like 50 pounds or some shit

  • They're in sync because there drum beats is a command to when they start paddling.

  • pretty good for very very short races, 200metres. very powerful shorter strokes. awesome.

  • try to use twist and leg kick guys.. use your body not only your shoulder.

  • geez pacers are weak!

  • sounds like theres chinese and pinoys in the boat

  • wow...great teamwork....:)

  • Beast O_O Everyone's so in sync, but it looks like it would stress your shoulders and back because there's no rotation. Nice reach, our team has a problem of reaching out to the bench ahead.

  • We usually use twisting and leg drive, but i see they're doing pretty well without it except for the pacer

  • Powerful, but hard on the shoulders. You can see front right in pain at the end of the video. They win races, but at a cost to their bodies.

I coach my recreational paddlers to get more power from rotation and then add the shoulder drive later in the stroke so that we avoid all that shoulder strain and maintain a longer, smoother stroke with a better paddle angle.

  • can someone describe what leg drive iand rotation is??

  • @jakylili It's by using your legs to push off the the eading seat and increasing the force you can pull water, and rotation is where you use your back and rotate your hips to pull more water, rather than burdening your shoulder and waist like everyone above stated.

  • its that philippine style!

  • No leg drive

  • Comment removed

  • you guys seem to be doing pretty well without using rotation or foot power.

  • yeah i was wondering about rotation.

  • timing seems to be pretty solid though.

  • @carrxwoah1993 and barley any hips rotation. but wow 1:44...my team's fastet is 2:10

  • @utubeazn123 That wasn't a 500 meter race.

  • @d00m33 i realized...its 200

  • what kind of drum is that?

  • there so fit

  • must be cramps

  • what happen to his arm
