  • I have always loved Gregorian it is such an emotional and relaxing form of singing. And anyone who doesn't like it remember Gregorian has been around alot longer than mainstream.. Beautiful :)

  • Any one who doesn't like your singing do not listen to the depth of your music

I love very thing you have sing

  • Zava laboratorio deflank..,."

  • "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" is a 1957 folk song written by political singer/songwriter Ewan MacColl for Peggy Seeger. And IMO Roberta Flacks version is the best!

  • To laurids2007: This song was originally recorded by Aretha Franklin in 1971. That is the best version.

  • so good! thank you for post

  • I have it sung by Céline Dion only, I don't like when other singers try to make a cover of her in this music, specifically - they did a good job though... thanks for posting!

  • Excellent post

  • Just beautiful. I am really feeling the music with the singing.

  • einfach schön mann kan da bei neue Kraft sammeln und Träumen

  • @Clof1959

It is a brilliant video... i feel very touched!!

All the best for each of you my very good friends... a Happy week... love... kissssss....Judie:-)))

  • A great song to be sure, from early work by Gordon Lightfoot, a great songwriter in addition to singer and guitarist. Listen to his version! I believe it is even more moving than this one.

  • @ccdg1066 Here I am replying to my own post LOL, but I must correct my error... the song was written by Ewan McColl. But I repeat that you should hear Lightfoot`s version, which was on his first album.

  • Great !

  • ‎"Enquanto houver vida dentro de você, os obstáculos serão apenas obstáculos. Muitos deles criados pela mente, obstáculos são desafios que nos fazem crescer e evoluir. A alma desconhece a palavra desafio. Sua essência flui com um pulsar de energia. A vida resume-se em brincar de ser feliz". (Mauricio A Costa, em 'O Mentor Virtual II' - O Elo Invisível - Lançamento em 2011).

  • Destroyed by ads

  • gigantyczne!!!

  • Excellent.

  • this music is certainly not for every ear....you need to be special to feel it and understand it.....it is nothing about religions here...

  • listening to this song brings back all the good memories and most especially the pain.. i remember the first time i meet you, you were hungry and all that you almost drag me to the nearest restaurant, you ate like a porter, that's what you said.. but it was all the same to me.. and i knew then my feelings for you will remain. even if you've hurt me so much and you're with another.. those every first feelings will always be there Toni.

  • Be even better with real voices

  • cancion bello, video bello, fotografo bello!!! Love gregorian, they have angelic voice!!!

  • No thanks, stick to your religious chants !!

  • i think when you & i get to heaven, this is what we'l hear

  • what´s the name of this famous song ?

the melody is in my head but I even don´t know the name :(

    -> nananana nananana nanananaananana!!!

crazy I know but what´s the name!!

    I´m getting mad

  • @wnnipuh are the lyrics something along the lines of: "nanananaaa nanananaaa hey hey heyyyy gooooodbye"? If so, the song is called: "Na Na Na Na, Hey Hey Hey, (Kiss Him) Goodbye" by Steam. There might be other versions of this song, but that one, I believe, is the original one, as it is from the 1970's. Hope that helps.

  • @wnnipuh the Batman theme?

  • what a travesty. By all means, Orlando Bloom and all sing it in the bath but don't release this track just because you can. Sounds like Simon Cowell on a synth layed over some chillout music.

  • My Jefferson. My love. Where has the wind carried you? Your face so angelic and lovely. Remember those three words we wanted to say? I have them still locked deep in the ocean of my bleeding heart. Forever they will remain until you come back to me again. Until then, my heart will endlessly bleed for you, you are my poem and my rose.

  • I at first was thinking...oh no....then I listened then was mesmerized.....totally cool chillout version.....deep and overflowing.....who would have ever thought?....I won't be too quick to judge in the future :--)

  • to me, it is Sentimental Soft Rock...!!

listen to that sound of guitar - i Love it!!

    thanks for sharing!! ^ ^

  • This is a great version and Roberta Flack is fantastic in her version , to me both are great to listen to , depending on the mood one is in ! I enjoy em for the qualities both have ! A lovely post ! thanks ! :--) gus

  • @flighter:

too bad you can't handle the differences of opinion in this world. not everyone will like the same things you do. don't be a brat about it, it makes you come off like a teenie teeny.

  • flighter666

Just wanted to let you know I got your Email/ and to say thank you.

    caring.... sunny

  • Anywher1, I disagree.

As beautiful as this rendition is, and it is beautiful. But it is not better than the original.

The Gregorians did an exceptional job.

But Roberta Flacks version makes time stand still.

  • @Ahnerqui66

Agree with you on the Flack version, disagree totally on this one.

  • @cheongyei

Like eating curry and custard together, uhh dont like it at all !!

Now Roberta Flacks version, now we are talking, sheer pleasure ,music of the Gods !!

  • Beautiful.

why so much hate in this world? what kind of world are we leaving the children?

if we teach the children nothing but hate,,, how will they know how to love?

censorship is an outrage! they have the right to record, or right, or sing any kind of music, sing any song.

you have the right to say what you did, but you also have the right be nice to other people.

We are here to love one another, but if we can't love them, then please don't hurt them.

    caring.... sunny

  • @nearerthenyouthink, I doubt that @cheongyei will understand a word of what you just said, sadly. Excellent post, anyway.

  • @nearerthenyouthink

Your problem is that your claim I have the "right to be nice" - but that is really your half-veiled attempt to tell me I have a duty to be nice. Sorry I thought this version of the song sucks, too bad that gets your panties all in a wad.

  • Sad that drek like this is allowed to be recorded and posted.

  • @cheongyei, drek or, should I say, scheisse/sh*t is coming out of your mouth.

  • Huh. Do we have a bunch of Rebellious Modern Monks here? Exactly what kind of wine, or beer are you serving there? LOL These are not Gregorian Chants, or Music! More like corral music, perhaps semi-pop w/slight cult tinge. There is quite a bit of electronic Betrügerei. It is melodic, quite creative and sung very straight forward. After I got over the surprise, and listened a few times, I like some of it. Soothing to the ear, heart, and soul. Who and where is/are he/they from?

  • @torro454

I so agree with you, but others have blasted me for my vocal dislike of this version.

  • My favorite song. Very unique style. Love it.

    ~Jeffro :)

  • I LOVE IT!!!

  • this sucked

  • Absolutely beautiful, better that the original or what am i saying

  • .. Niceeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • Sublime *****

  • A full body sound very nice

  • Very cool ...thanks for sharing this !!

  • just.. perfect.... nothing more and nothing less...

  • HERMOSAAAA!!!

  • All the Chants are wonderful. They give you a different perspective on life and they really bring your spirituality up and over. I agree with MrMollen, this is the most relaxing and peaceful state you can receive in any genre of music. The voices are beautiful, beyond compare. I wish I could get a CD of all the songs that the Gregorians cover. Bravo!! ♫♪

  • Fantastic

  • The picture reminds me of the famous Afghan girl of the National Geographic.

  • I really don't understand where all these religious/spiritual comments are coming from. This is a love song composed by the late Ewan McColl. I think he was an atheist.

  • "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" is an atheist, left-wing, folk love song, and movingly beautiful. Ewan MacColl was a member of the Communist Party of GB. Some of his other songs include "The Ballad of Ho Chi Minh" and "The Ballad of Stalin". He wrote this one to to be sung by Peggy Seeger (who he later married), a half sister of US folk singer and left-wing activist Pete Seeger. She settled in the UK, because the US authorities were going to cancel her passport after she'd been in China.

  • Thank you. At least YOU seem to know what you are talking about!

I have heard it said that Ewan composed the song whilst on the telephone to Peggy. Now, that, of course, may be complete romantic fabrication!

  • Hi nolictrut. I just found a video of Radio 2's Mike Harding revealing five folk facts. You can find the video in the Radio 2 section of the BBC website, under Sold On Song (genre folk). He claims that Peggy Seeger was working on a US television channel, and needed a love song to perform. So she phoned Ewan McColl, who coincidentally had just composed "The First Time ..." for her, and so he sang it to her, and she noted it down, and performed it on TV.

  • mwing...: Yes, the two had been lovers for some time. She needed the song for a play she was in that was touring in US. He could not enter the US due to being on a black list by MIA. RF's hit was a right time, right place thing. Clint Eastwood featured it on his movie " Play Misty for Me". She is good, but not nearly as good as PPM. Gregorian has created an intense version, which strikes the spirit. Good job.

  • The credibility of Mike Harding's "fact" takes a massive nosedive when he further claims that Aretha Frankiln was watching the TV show and decided that she wanted that song, and turned it into a massive hit. It was Roberta Flack, who had the massive hit, of course. Perhaps all black women look the same to Mike Harding! He also talks of Seeger and MacColl as though they were married at the time, but he was still with Jean Newlove, his 2nd wife, and their daughter Kirsty was born two year later.

  • It is sad to see such wasted talent. I cannot deny that Mr. MacColl had musical talent; but it pains me to read of what he was in real-life and how he mis-used his skills.

  • mrneccos, whilst you may not agree with Ewan MacColl politically (and nor do I), he used his skills well, and a huge debt is owed to him by English folk clubs, the Scots folk song movement, and everyone in Britain who loves the countryside, rambling and rights of way. He also brought into the world the late Kirsty MacColl. You need to read properly, and without your prejudices.

  • mwingereza, you are right. I have no love for communism and i did write out of ignorance of MacColl's work in folk music. I will in the future not look at MacColl's work, not through a political filter, but through the lense of a music lover.

  • Look within yourselves and find the christ in you. The life of a man who lived more 2000 years ago merely points to the experiences that each of you must endure to reach that level of enlightenment. Remember, he said, "He that must follow me must take up his own cross." There lies the mystery of salvation: it is a personal responsibility

  • this is a beautiful song. but it kinda makes me fall asleep

  • Gregorian are best relax-music I´ve ever heard. So soft and fine music and voices... Even my son

wants to listen to it when it´s bedtime.... He sleeps in 15 minutes.... Great!!!

  • @MrMolle78 :-)

  • @MrMolle78 right now I'm hurt mate...I've got into a fight...I'm not injured but my head hurts because they've pushed me and I've hit my head (I've kicked their ass) and listening to this music makes my head relaxing :)))

  • ENCONTRO DIVINO COM DEUS...

  • Ranhill, great comeback. Really got me there. LOL.

  • Unity, is the one I choose. As an experiencer of abductions and contact, there is a metamorphasis coming for those who choose this, for earth and humankind. An upgraded people, who know each other fully, without one left out, unprovided for or equal. Cosmic advancement. We need to stop this religious bickering and all wars ASAP. Love, unity. Guru each other and ignore the biggies in divisions, but find the wisdom and mysteries in each other. Stop wars, money, slavery and feed everyone.

  • Well said...

  • Religious talk is leads to complete lack of unity. Spirituality goes deeper, and its as natural as meditation and accessing your right hemisphere that the leaders close off from us. I don't sense a Christos message in this music. Starseeds! Cosmic advancement. Coding to unlock and heal dna so we wake up. Yes, thats what I'm sensing. All cosmic people face a question: unity or separation/wars. Your religons are separation. Theres two endings to the play, soon we face the wrong one.

  • As John Lennon once wrote: "God is a (just) a concept by which we humans measure our pain". Do yourselves a favour and abandon all religions and the loathsome petty bickerings they bring. If there ever was a Jesus Christ roaming the middle east 2000 years ago, he's been more trouble than it;s worth.

  • You are the one who should abandon your petty bickering and shallow ideas.

  • No wonder people are abandoning christianity - nothing but back and forth internal hatreds from the very beginning. Very very sad. Not exactly what Christ taught. And none of it is really about Jesus and his message - its all petty human pride, power and control. After 2000 years, so much hatred what some people think they know about a dead jewish rabbi.

  • GAY

  • Looking up gay things again there shadow?

    Dosent supprise me.

  • your quite the tracker united isn't it past your bed time

  • yehudiadelphos, no-one is forced or "encouraged" to become a monk, neither Christian, Buddhist, or Taoist. And No-one is "born" a monk. They had other lives before. They choose this life. Most are probably more experienced with the wordly life than most priests are. You or I may not choose it, but who are we to say?

  • Those who know the Truth

It's a shame for such talented people to be invlolved in and follow the Harlot system of Catholicism, of which is clearly shown in Rev Ch 17 and 18. To pose as monks for Catholics is not a good idea to be professing Godliness. Anyone who truly understands what the Catholic Church is all about, then they would understand that Christ will destroy that system in due time. Rev Ch 18 speaks all about it. Just a heads up for those who have ears to hear and eyes to see.

  • As opposed to the confused 35000+ different protestant groups? Which for the record, only popped up 1500 years after Christ...but who knows, maybe Martin Luther was right (hint the sarcasm...)

  • The Protestants in the days of their formation were pretty good with observation of doctrine, as they could even see the error of Catholicism being put forth as a power gain over the common people. For those who believe in Yahweh The God of Israel and His son the Lord Jesus Christ and have understanding of the Truth, they certainly wouldn't call themselves or be associated with Catholicism, as they know that Roman Catholicism and its daughters (religious bodies that came out of her) are evil.

  • Thy didn't have to call themselves 'Catholic,' as protestants did not exist until the 1500's nor did the schism of the Orthodox Church in 1024.

With all due respect, there is absolutely no evidence nor history and refuted by many Church fathers that existed well before 1500's that only exemplify the Catholic faith.

  • Where do you get your information which states that those who knew the 'truth' (before the 1500's) did not practice Catholic teaching???

I suggest St. Ambrose, St. Ignatius of Antioch, etc.

  • You should look further more into history. In the KJV, Rev Ch12 speaks of the history and uprise of the Catholic Church which took place approx around 300 AD. It came into being by those who were supposedly Christians who were given over to bribery and corruption from Constantine, of whom they helped get into power, for which they themselves also sought for their own means of which they made deal with Constantine. Eventually they overtook Constantine and had set themselves up.

  • During the process of setting themselves up they murdered many faithful believers of the Truth along the way. These Catholics were the beginniong of the Apostacy, of which developed into a religious system in opposition to God. The true nature of the Catholic system can be seen in Revelation, Ch 17 and 18, as it is an immitation of Tyre of old Ezek Ch 27, and of Babylon of Old, Isaiah Ch 47, and also Gen 11. Please read them carefully with good observation and see for yourself. Sincerely, Yehudi

  • Eh...the constantine theory, As I said before, what are your sources? What historians/sources claim that Constantine 'created' the Catholic Chruch? That is my quesiton, I can only hope it is not those 'chick tracts' (a anti-Catholic propoganda). Constantine merely legalized Catholicism or rather allowed it occur after 300 years of persectution, there have been 30 popes prior to that occurance...and again, the earliest written record of the Catholic Church by that name is from St. Ignatious

  • Which was written in 107ad

  • Very well done, very spiritual.

  • the beautiful blending of voices was thoroughly ruined by the electronic noise that was utterly uncalled for.

  • the first time ever i saw her face i was taken,,,the first time ever i saw her beautiful eyes i melted.

The last time ever i walked with her,,,the last time ever i saw her face,,,she walked away and we never saw the sun again. And now in my heart it is always the first time i will see her face.

  • MERAVIGLIOSA

  • It must have been a very painful experience, for monks who are not allowed to touch anyone ever, to sing this song.

  • Its pretty sad for them indeed, especially with the Catholic influence upon them to control them for their own use an dpolitical power. They are better off learning the Truth from scripture, for which they enjoy the blessing of marriage an dstill live a life Godly life if they wanted too. But that's up to them. They have nice voices indeed, but its shame they are serving the Harlot system shown in Revelation 17:4-5, Rome, Babylon the Great, Of which the Lord Jesus Christ will destroy soon Rev 18

  • Monks choose to live the lives they do out of devotion to God; the Church is merely the medium through which they accomplish this. Do not forget, either, that not all Catholics are part of the Roman Catholic Church. Some are independent Catholics, some are Old Catholics, some are Orthodox or Coptic.

Rather than judging the Church for what you think you know, why not love the Church for what you don't? The Church is present in so many great things, doing the ministry of Christ.

  • The Catholic system itself is evil, regardless how many daughter sytems come out of it. If people want to learn the Truth, then they would learn also learn that God's word is not be commercialized. 1 Cor 9:18.

  • As I said, stop hating the Church for what you think it is. You know nothing of Catholicism. You use the evils of the Roman Church to define us all.

In our Church, there are no collections at mass. If people would like to donate, they may, but we never ask. We do not discriminate against anyone from any faith for any reason. The Gospel is open to all. The sacraments are open to all. We offer the love of Christ to all. Our Church is the Church Christ founded. The Roman Church has left the path.

  • I know very well what Catholicism is, and what it does, especially how it affects people when they find out it true identity as opposed to the Truth from scripture. If your congregation doesn't commercialize itself, then that is commendable, good to see. What about a paid ministry? Roman Catholicism if anyone wants to know are criminal organisation under the guise of religion. They own nearly 1/3 of the worlds wealth, still cry poor and have their fingers in many worldly enterprizes.

  • As far as paid ministry? No. All our clergy are self-supporting, bi-vocational clergy. Some are chaplains for hospitals or emergency services, some are police officers and other public servants, and others simply hold down a 9-5 at the office.

Again....what you dislike is the Roman Church, not Catholicism.

  • By the way, I am not talking about just our congregation. I am talking about the entire North American Old Catholic Church.

  • increible.....................

  • gregorian chants dont mix well with electronic cheesy music ...tho this is nice just it will sound better without the horrid back ground music

  • This group adds another dimension to the classics and I'm addicted.

  • once...

  • A totally different interpretation of this beautiful song. I love it!!

  • Beautiful to the 'end of time'.

  • this is so wrong... arkward...

  • the song is beautiful no matter wat it mean and wats even more beautiful is that its open to interpretation..to some it cud be there lover, friend mother for me its my baby daughter which is why its so special

    x

  • The first time that I kiessed your mouth, it doens't mean flesh love, when you kiss the lips of a girl you are expressing the pure love.

  • The moon and the stars were the gifts you gave. When a blind start to see for first time , ti will be the stars because is a new world and the stars and the moon represent LOVE, PEACE.

  • The first time that I ever saw your face means when all of us see the face of Jesus. Those who don't know him has the rist time to see His face laike the blind person after he recovered his view the first thing was to see the savir, Jesus.
