If global warming is for real then why did we just have in the midwest 3 of the coldest winters in many years? In the 70s Time magazine was claiming global cooling and we would all freeze to death. @Marksnotebook Global warming does not = hottest winters everywhere around the world. Climates change in really interesting ways because wind currents change. In fact, a lot of climate changes have been exactly in line with global warming theory. How else would you explain those climate changes that global warming predicted perfectly?

Also, comparing it to global cooling is the worst analogy ever. This has far more evidence. And don't mention climategate, until you've researched how immaterial

Also, I've been registered republican since I was 18 years old, and I am a traditional, fiscal conservative. I don't believe in huge government regulation for global warming, just small taxes to offset the negative externality of pollution. I voted for Bush over Gore (back when bush promised small govt).

@Marksnotebook Also, you can't say you believe in science if you don't believe in global warming. This is because science makes epistemological claims. Scientific fact is whichever theory has the greatest body of evidence. It's not proven, but by "believing in science" you are stating that I'm going to assume that if an explanation seems legitimate and predicts a lot of very specific behavior u wouldn't have otherwise, then it's true. It's not a logically sound system, but it works.
