Don't you think you're taking it a bit seriously? The open top bus thing was a tradition that had come out of football, as clubs travelled around their towns after winning trophies. It's not about "look at us aren't we great", it's about trying to share the experience with the fans.

A bit embarassing yes, but I don't think it had the intentions that some suggest. I thought it was great at the time. Weeks earlier we had seen pictures of a bus in London that had been bombed to pieces.
