I think they mean if you're an 80's baby, you grew up listening to this....once you were old enough to know good music, it was the 90's. I was born in 89 but grew up in the 90's...not the 80's.

Actually, in my opinion, what killed great R&B groups like Jodeci was the rise of boy bands like Backstreet Boys, N'Sync and 98 Degrees in the late 90's. You also had break out new comers like Brittney Spears, Jessica Simpson and Christina Aguilera. R&B and most Rap reached their pinnacle in the 90's but all music genre's rise and fall over time. I think we'll see R&B and Rap get back to what they were 15 years ago once people get tired of all this pop shit.

@littlemissinnocen100 I disagree I don't think true R&B died that early, to me, True R&B died in about 2004. Since then nothing good has come. Silk were true R&B who started to fade after the 2000's. imX and Immature were great, 112 are personally my only favourite over Jodeci and I think Jagged Edge are still true R&B even to this day. For solo artists, Mario Winans came after Jodeci and personally I think a lot of Montell Jordan's stuff is true R&B. Unfortunately these people are unknown now.
