Hey Marc, Nice video's...just got a loop station and I was having trouble learning how the auto start feature works. I got a grip on it now thanks to your video. Awesome! Could you point me in the direction of you video lesson of the C major scale? I would appreciate that!
hey it probably where you have the looper in your chain. It should be last. if the distortion is behind the looper every signal the looper lets out is distorted. hope that helps
Sorry, no. I don't think he's ever made a song using a looper. And I don't know him personally. The looper is basically a practice pedal or a one-man band jam kind of thing. People don't use it to record so it would be hard find songs being done by a looper.
how do you delete a track after memorizing it? I have filled out all my 11 prhases, but there is some of them I don't want to have... How do I delete them. It's for sure easy, but I thing I've lost my manual :(
Are you asking me? (Btw I'm not Marc Seal.) If the setup works in practices, there shouldn't be much problem running the same setup in live performances, because the only difference is that your amp will get mic'ed. The difficulty is in the mixing of the band sound in the mixer. I don't personally own this pedal, but from my experience, the soundboard mixer guys always have their own preference in sound so I always tell them to boost the gain on bass, bit less high, reverb, etc. Hope that helps!
Me? I use Damage Control "Demonizer". Google "demonizer" and you'll see it as first link. It's a decent tube distortion pedal without having to pay thousands on a head, although the pedal's pretty expensive itself. I run it through a Fender Blues Jr. so everything's pretty compact, while I try to retain the tube distortion/clean sound as much as possible. Hope that helps!
make sure the distortion box is infront of the looper in the effects chain. remember, whatever feeds into the distortion will be distored, and if you have your looper in front in the effects chain, everything the looper feeds out will be distorted.
yes you can but i only have the RC-2 and it records about 11 different loops i think about 16 minuts...correctme if im wrong...I dont know about this one...
i just borrowed the RC-20 from a friend and I have no idea how to use it. I saw videos on the RC-2 and the beat tracks sound way better than the RC-20. SO, if I invest in one of these it might be the RC-2. Can anyone tell me the beat tracks can be changed on 20 or are they just the usual metranome sounding tracks?
ok just to clear out - i'm not marc seal, but i do know a bit about loop pedals and i'm contemplating about buying the new Line 6 JM4 looper. there is essentially almost no difference between the RC-2 and RC-20XL other than the obvious number of buttons, longer recording time for RC-20XL and reverse mode. I might be wrong but I think that's about right. And the price difference is, I think, at most $50. On eBay it only differs by $20-30, $140-ish for RC-2 and $160-ish for RC-20XL, used.
I don't think you can use tap tempo easily either unless you get a FS5U pedal with the RC-2. Correct me if i'm wrong but i'm using the RC-20 (and loving it)
HEY MAN i've got a question, i just got my Rc-20 and its great but, how can you get a lead tone with a descent amount of distortion without affecting the chord progression's cleanliness? (Apart from splitting the signal to a different amp) thanx
He's using effects processors/distortion pedals, etc. before the looper pedal in the signal path. That way he can choose a tone and effects for the guitar, record it with the loop pedal, then change to another tone without changing the sound of the recorded loop. The output of the looper is going straight to the amp, not into a distortion pedal.
I just read this comment - some amps (almost all high end amps, and many mid-range priced amps these days) have option called "Effects Loop" where it allows you to use the amp's preamp and effects before it feeds into the power amp (the final stage of chain before being heard).
He has talent in teaching and being a great guitar clinician.
But his image as a guitar player doesn't seem to be salient enough for the youngsters these days. It's not all about Steve Vai, Jason Becker, or Zakk Wylde!!
Seems easy to imitate! prrrrrrrrrrrrr, prrrrrrrrrrrr, ticci, ticcci.ziuuuuuuuu, ziuuu, thump!!!Oh,what a guitar hero!!!Marc Seal is a ridiculous characteer. How self indulgent....The supreme master.
Congratulation my man. You are a virtuose guitar player. If it is possible, i would like to know how to set the analogs effects in correct order ( drive + modulation, etc ). Best regards.

What equipment is needed if I wish to generate, record and play back a piano segment, the a base guitar segment, and then a live lead guitar segment?
I am going to try to be a “one man band” in my local talent show at Hudson Middle School (December 15, 2010)
Thanks

Can anyone help me? I'm a bass player and just bought the BOSS RC-20XL loop station.
When I lay down a groove and then I overdub chords, countermelodies, etc... it's all good, it goes according to plan.
The problems begin when I want to solo over it. I use an effect (distortion, whammy pedal, etc) to solo but then the whole loop takes on the effect.
I noticed Marc seal cranked on the distortion and nothing happened to the original loop. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.
Carehuea 2 years ago
You need to put the distortion before the loop station and not the other way.
curtiswcole 2 years ago 2
put the fucking pedal at the end of your chain dip shit.

You need an effects loop so the signal chain is inbetween the distortion on your amp and the speaker.

u cant transfer directly to your computer because it does not come with a cable.
If u want to transfer directly watch the Digitech JamMan

You could always use the output to record it to your computer. You'd need an audio interface for that, though.

Type Boss RC-20XL Manual on Google. It'll lead you to the Roland site where you can download the manual.
But for the quick reference, just press 'Write' and 'Exit' button at the same time. Hold it. They'll start blinking then press 'Write' button again.
I got this pedal about 3 week ago myself, and man, it's great for writing songs. Woot!
Happy playings!

ITS ALL YOUR FAULT!!! I HATE YOU!! Just kidding! :) But it is your fault for compelling me to buy this thing. It is AWESOME!!

What do you use for the distortion sound? I can never make mine sound anything like these videos no matter what.
UpcomingJedi 2 years ago
I think he's got distortion pedals in front ot the RC20 and his amp is set clean.
That's they only way to do that I think.
