  • @astr0tugi I'm not arguing that. I was referring to a very specific style being mainly practiced in Tuva. Yes there are variations in Western Mongolia. I'm not sure I worded my replies correctly.

  • Turkije guzel. I learned that Turkey is a beautiful place full of wonderful people, but I never heard them sing throat music.

  • This song in any case is wonderful! :-) I love Amra's throat-singing and the music of Egschiglen in general. Can someone tell me, where took place this workshop?

  • Amaging Borbangnadyr!!super!!!

  • I love Mongolians<3

  • he's good, nice khoomii.

  • Yes, it's traditional to Tuva, Mongolia, but also in Altai, Khakassia and some other places. However, this particular performance is a "cover" of a song by the late, great Tuvan singer Gennadi Tumat, which evidently the members of Egshiglen heard on the radio. This is documented by van Tongeren.

Thanks for sharing it. Lots more videos at my page.

  • come on it's just a song!

no need to get into the history of it m'ami!

  • Hey... Don't take it so personal. I am in agreeance with you on the history of it. I'm talking about present day.

  • amazing stuff, seeing them so it live is amazing.

  • Trust me it's not just in Mongolia. That's where it traditionally developed.

  • it´s not turkic!!!! turkic ppl will never can do such a thing trust me

  • tell other if u wanna see them laughing at you

  • shut up,He's Mongol

  • Of course Amra is Mongol ... but throat singing in general is practiced in different Mongolian and Turkish areas ... and although it is nowadays no more so usual in Turkey, this kind of singing was/is known there, too. Cannot understand for which reason so many people become harshly, when discussing this question. I love Mongolia. But this is no reason to have something against Turkish peoples! In addition it is here about music and not politics. So stay kindly, please!

  • My friend.. I said MAINLY in Tuva. And that is indeed the truth. Over 70% of the Tuvan male population are throat singers. Check the facts :)

  • I think the Tuvans might take offense at that first sentence! :)

  • Yeah, what's up with choir people advocating that one should avoid any and all activities stressful to the voice? You aren't gonig to USE UP your voice, you weirdos! To exercise the voice makes it stronger, and I know this from experience.

  • This is really awsome, I wish i could get my harmonics that high, im still in practice and learning by my self, I hope im not messeing up my throat.. =\

  • Khoomei is NOT destructive to the vocal apparatus. Only when done improperly can it cause damage. This type of throat singing is found MAINLY in TUVA. Tuva is part of the russian federation and borders Mongolia. Throat singing is found in Mongolia, but only in the wester part I believe. It is mainly a Tuvan thing.

  • *did

  • Amazing!

didi he did the bird singing sound?

  • Yes, he did. Crazy cool, isn't it?
