...Whenever you put an electrical load on a generator, it causes a counter-voltage and the magnetic field will slow down the generator. It actually puts a drag on the armature. That's how dynamic brakes work. Yeah, it will "perpetuate" itself...but as a feedback loop that you don't want. When the motor tries to turn and draws current from the generator, it will slow down the generator, which then slows down the motor, etc. There's actually a video someone posted where you can see this.

It isn't just what I've been taught. It's what I've actually seen with my own eyes. I've been experimenting with electricity, including high voltage, for over 10 years. Look at my videos if you want. If someone wants to experiment, that's great and I definitely encourage that. But once you start working with electricity (and especially alternating current), you realize that perpetual motion with a motor and generator is impossible.

Truer words have never been spoken! So I want you to continue to build, experiment, interpret, and extrapolate, and begin to understand why permanent magnets do not have intrinsic energy, and thus why your machine will never work. I can tell you why it won't work, repeating most of what has already been said by others. But there is no more powerful teaching tool than experimenting hands on.

@ct92404 what if you connect it to a battery instead of making it do work directly, the battery will store the energy that you can use later without creating the drag on the generator.

Unfortunately, whenever you put ANY kind of electrical load on a generator, you will put a drag on the armature. If the battery is accepting a charge, then it's drawing current from the generator and it will put a drag on it. Now, if the generator is already turning because of kinetic energy (let's say you had the generator on a car or whatever) then yeah sure you could have the generator recharge a battery. But it will slow down because of the drag.

...that's called "regenerative braking" or "dynamic braking." You're taking advantage of the fact that the vehicle is already rolling, and the wheels turn a generator, which gives a braking effect, and also recharges a battery, so you're not just wasting the energy.

I REALLY wish people would stop wasting their time by trying to make a perpetual motion machine with a motor and generator. Seriously, that's how a little kid thinks..."ooh, a generator makes electricity when it spins, and electricity makes a motor spin...I'll just hook them together and it could run forever by itself!" NO. Once you start to learn more about how electricity and induction actually work, you realize that it's impossible.
