  • fuck this dicksack!

  • Thumbs up if you would buy an album with songs like this

  • only 1 douchebag.... (talking about ratings of course :D)

  • how did he distort his voice?

  • @newventuresband it's vocoder...

  • @illumination2006 cool...

  • @newventuresband Uhh, with the effects built into the keyboard........ I can't think of a sarcastic way of saying it.

  • that's a really cool song!

  • 1:10 he also sings perfectly with his real voice.... I feel crappy.

  • I want to take a blessing from rudess so i can play good with my band tommorow in our live :')

  • I can definitely hear influences of The bealtes, John Lennon and Elton John.

  • jordan rudess is a goof xD but what a beauty! xD!!! he makes my day XD

  • oh my god is this song dedicated to stephen hawkings? lol!!!

  • @andrewbautista23 hawking

  • This guy is what we can call a GENIUS!!!!

  • somehow reminds me of "still alive" from the portal game. nice!

  • Anyone notice how Jordan Rudess and Scott Ian resemble each other? o-o

    Just saying :3

  • man

    this is gold...

    I love the melodies

  • can i buy this????????

    some one should tab this!

  • can i buy this????????

  • You freaking monster.

  • if jordan ever see's this comment.....PLEASE!!! makes this a DT song!!!! would be so epic!!! lol

  • i wish i had half the music theory he does..

  • The great music scientist have spoken!

  • I've probably watched this video 20 times in the last few days. There's something wonderful about this song- it's really beautiful in a profound, understated way. Jordan Rudess is the Mozart, the Bach of our time. What a man. I hope he never stops making music.

  • The bit he sings uneffected has a lovely David Bowie feel to it. He has a very interesting voice- I'd love to ever hear more of it.

  • Okay so i posted that before i finished the vid, but still, that isn't a real reason. It's only a half step difference, and its lower...

  • bryceguy72, I think he had selected C# because he can sing so easely in that tone

  • He isn't actually singing, smart one. You just have to talk and then press the keys. Also, its a key, not a tone.

  • @simon12332 He starts singing at around 1:15

  • wooooow! he is a genious!! i love Drem theater!! long life dream!!!

  • By the keys he's pressing it looks like he's playing in C# major. I wonder why he chose C# (difficult) instead of C (easy).

  • @bryceguy72

    HE IS THE WIZARD

    DARE YOU QUESTION HIS MAJESTY

probably just to practice the hard scales and the like, if i was to take a guess

  • No one is beyond question! Except me, of course.

  • @bryceguy72 Cause it's better for him to sing in that key?, plus it's not difficult for him, he's god

  • Whoa.... that sounds cool around 1:00

  • lol T-PAIN,

    great great Rudess

  • @ThePiponator Two different things lol.

  • healing....

  • wow... i like it! xD

  • PLEASE! make this a dream theater song!!!

    hahaha

  • He's a nerd alright!!! and a member of Illuminati, so watch out.

  • Jesus, this is some of the most beautiful music I've ever heard in my life and it's just fucking around on the keyboard...

  • That chorus is actually his own voice, not the keyboard.

  • this is incredible.

  • jordan rudess is the greatest keyboardist alive! beytoven jr

  • wtf! XD

  • is this at the church of Jordan Rudess? LOL

  • im jewish, but i would join that!

  • so is jordan lol

  • thats good, cuz jordan happens to be jewish as well, haha

  • yeah, him and portnoy are rock jews

  • @bassguitarpro88

hehe, the rock jews with their rock juice

  • @dropless2002 i actually created a facebook group called the church of jordan rudess

  • @darude90 joined the facebook group !

  • @dropless2002 Only a cult unfortunately. We're working on it.

  • @dropless2002 He's Jewish heh.

  • jordan has a good voice, why doesnt he ever sing in dream theater?

  • i agree with that. this is the very first time i hear rudess sing, and actually he can definetly sing.

    this is awesome.

  • cuz he's so fuckin good at keys

  • @moses132049

because the combination of him singing/playing, added to petruccis killzone mode would cause an apocalypse.

  • Hahahahaha XDD The truth of the day!

  • keyboard, sing, now the iphone??

is there anything he can't do??

course not!! theres only 1 jordan rudess!!!

  • @bigbballin50 very good guitar player also!

  • fuck...

    how does he do this?

  • Sounds like Ayreon!

  • genius!

  • 1:12 wow he can sing too

  • its fake jordan rudess can REALY do all those things with hes own voice, the keyboard just makes a pallet where he can lay hes hands on.. thats it..

  • Well yeah, he is a wizard so ofcourse he can. :)

  • are you fucking stupid..

  • opps imma dick :)

    i thought you said he couldn't : D

  • really? i bet.

    JR = GOD

  • It's because he sounds like David Bowie and that just doesn't fit with the image.

    :O

  • he sounded pretty good singing by himself (without the keyboard)

  • mmmh...I wonder why he doesn't do any background vocals on DT

  • A lot of people don't know that Jordan actually did sing on his 1993 debut solo album, "Listen", and did quite a good job of it.

  • I have thought about that a lot and the only reason I can think of is that his voice is too dominant and distinct.

  • jordan.

  • Does anyone have the lyrics to this song?

  • I keep a book of dreams

    Here beneath my bed

    The diary of the scientists

That go out in my head

    You know the fantasies

    ?????

    And my question in technology

    Will shiver in the light

  • I have a dream

    And it's here today

The people all around the Earth

    Will find a better way

    I have one wish

    And it's coming true

The kind of love I feel inside

Will one day come to you

  • The undercover scientist

    The all-together lunatic of time

    Is more than just illusion

    The undercover scientist

Will absolutely change your state of mind

    The changes are beginning now

  • Comment removed

  • And now it's too late To come in from the rain And yes it's too bad And all is so insane And yes I know now That the undercover scientist The absolute lunatic Will change this whole reality And tune up this tonality For life I keep the book of dreams Here beneath my bed The diary of the scientists That go out in my head
  • lol don't mean to be "one of those people" who is all OCD about this stuff but i just wanted to say :P

  • lol i think its shimmer in the light

  • lol oops I didn't really look over it

  • oh ya i actually appreciate the correction

  • I really like this song. I've listened to it probably about 20 times now.

  • what's the price of this hellyeah keyboards? :O

  • Whatever it is, it's more than fuckin' worth it. I'm getting one of these!

  • There's no such thing as vp-500. Just a normal keyboard.

This is set up because jordan wanted to sing in his real voice... HE IS FUCKING ALIEN!!!! A HUMAN CANNOT PLAY LIKE HE DOES!

  • lol !!

  • well look at the back of the machine and what does it say.....VP-550!!!!!

granted he is a fantastic player but e needed the machine to get those fab vocal sounds!!!!

  • man........your right

  • @JoolsGuitar Jordan's playing a Roland 550. He's just as much of a human as Stevie Wonder I'd say. That's just 10,000 hours of practice.

  • @JoolsGuitar

    but... but thats a VP-550!!! :O

  • I don't know why jordan doesn't do back up vocals with DT

  • Yeah, JP and MP do it, too, so why doesn't do it?

  • Well, he's not actually singing in this video, he's just mouthing the words and playing the notes. I'm sure he can sing though, so I guess I don't know.

  • So I feel like a jackass, I just got to the part where he actually started singing, lol. Whoops.

  • hahaha

  • I believe it maybe because hes controlling a hole lot of stuff and it may just get to complex to start adding backup vocals

  • always thought he sounds a bt like david bowie. and im severly jealous of his perfect pitch ;p

  • Reminds me of Stephen Hawking mixed with Queen.

  • This song is very nice..

  • Poor Jordan's nose is stuffy, haha.

    He's a fantastic singer!

  • lol such a damn catchy song!!

  • yes thats his voice the vocoder only activates when he plays thats how it works

  • The part between 1:12 and 1:35 Its his voice without any modifications I think. Well at least its his his own vocal pitch without any doubts

  • I think that he has only some reverb coming from the synth at that part. Otherwise his own voice and pitch

  • He sounds good with a vocorder.

  • Reminds me of pink floyd... Somehow...

  • Jordan sings like a god. He should do some vocal work on the next DT album. Seriously.

  • I totally agree.

  • non deve cantare in tono, a quello ci pensa la tastiera, basta che rispetti il tempo e suoni il tono che desidera

  • FYUCKIN BEST SHIT EVAR

  • ma quando canta, canta pure la melodia oppure dice solo le parole?

  • it's kinda weird when he sings, but he's fucking good!!

  • I love this!!! I hope some of this will show up on the next DT album!! Imagine a more soulful, electronic progressive metal!

  • easy. six or seven equal songs, and get your cd for only 10 u$s..

xDD JR is.. something outside the world

  • What kind of mic is that?

  • It's not the mic which makes his voice so strange, he uses the Roland VP-550 (as shown) to steer his voice, because if you look he isn't playing the piano as you hear in the background, he's just playing with his voice actually.

  • Oh, I understand how this works, in fact I am planning on getting one. Since they don't come with a mic, I like the one he is using for it since it wraps around the head.I would like to know what it is :)

    Thanks though

  • Rudess actually sings surprisingly well,

    but,

Labrie's skills and range are much better.

Rudess should do back-up vocs. but he doesn't. its understandable though.

  • well, you can't really judge his voice on this video, as a vocoder adjusts pitch, he could be completely out of key for all we know

  • no,

    you can not.

but as I've seen other videos of him where hes sang without a vocoder, he was pretty good.

having perfect pitch really helps the singing.

  • o yah? what video does he sing without the vocoder? im interested to hear his voice

  • there was this one Dream Theater christmas special thing..

from around the time of the Metropolis tour i think, and he sang a bit in that.

i think theres a few more, but i can't really remember.

  • How about making of scenes from a memory as he was first announced as the new key for DT. JR cán sing... It's just that he's a much better keyboard player than James is a vocalist, and JP, MP and maybe JM make much better backing vocalists or he might be having a mic in front of him for singing too every once in a while...

  • Brilliant... just brilliant...

  • He sings very well, he plays guitar like a professional, he is the god of keyboards... WHAT THE FUCK CAN STOP THIS VIRTUOSO WIZARD? X.X

  • Nothing: He's a God

  • Hes a good example of why you should pay attention when people tell you musical theory is important. Jordan Rudess FTW.

  • he should sing on the next dt album

  • i fucking love this song soo much, JR is GOD :)

  • He is a genius!

  • he is a genius!

  • He is a genius!!!

  • He is a genius!!!

  • this type of music would be so much more convincing if we couldnt see this dude in a t-shirt singing it. It needs to be just audio or to be accompanied by a theatrical thing. But if the whole point of this video is to demo the keyboards functionality then i guess it does it well.

  • Duuude he's not just a guy in a t-shirt man! WTH He's freakin' Jordan Rudess! He's like the closest thing to Jesus Christ You'll ever see here on Earth.

  • lol - i keep hearing that... he seems kewl and all, show me some evidence - a link? Im not putting him down really, you could just create a real imagery with this music and seeing him on the keyboard kills it for me haha.

BTW - check out my bands video clip, were called Karillion and the track is called the fence :D let us know what u think... were unsigned etc so could really use the support.

    cheers

    -Ry

  • Well you should rly look up videos of him here.

He's absolutely a keyboard virtuoso. He plays in a band called Dream Theater, which pwns all. Lawlz. Everyone in that band is an absolute god at his thing.

And erm.. ur band is amazing dude! lawlz when I read ur comment I thought u were just an amateur but u pretty much kick ass. Lawlz.

  • oh yeah i know dream theater, they rock! my drummer and bass player are REALLY into them, ill have to get some more of their music.

Wow, thanks heaps dude - really appreciate you checkin out the clip, send us a friend request on myspace if u get a spare 5 minutes and are bored :D:D:D:D

    were just /karillion

  • mierda! que bueno que está ese aparato, pero me gustaria saber si alguien me puede decir si el Roland V sinthGT viene de 88 teclas o si el Roland G8 trae vocoder.

  • listen the album "listen"

    he sings there.

  • FINALLY we get to hear some of his singing voice with no effects on it. I think he should join the Dream Theater backup vocals choir.

Also the song in itself is very nice.

  • I've heard him sing without effects before but this is the best I've heard him

  • He's a good singer!

  • maybe, but he doesn't have to sing in the tune of the song to sound good, that's what the vocoder does; it makes your voice sound in the note you are pressing on the keyboard.

  • He sings whitout the vocoder at one part of the song

  • Rudess needs to make an album with all these songs, "Life on Mars", etc.

  • lol we get to here his real voice a little on this one its pretty sweet

  • This is my favourite of the VP-500 demo's (together with the 'balls' demo ;) )

  • MUAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAAHAHAH!!

jordan rudess is the best keyboard player in the planet...and He's also a great entertainer LOL

  • It's a bloody one-man chior XD

  • This is the best! =D I always listen this song on my iPod! Beautiful! =D

  • I REALLY LIKE THIS ONE!!!! Excellent work! so cool!
