1988 much more full on, better music more underground acid and full on house just more out there than 1989, in 1989 the music whent bit soft to much cheesy italian pinao house, dance moves chage from 88 to 89, in 88 rocking the body and and keeping your feet rooted to the floor and throwing the your arms in the air, in 89 danceing become a series of complicated dance moves it lost some spontaneousness dont get me wrong 1989 was not as good as 1988, check out rocky and diesal summer 1988
I remember this new beat track actually being played at this party. It was arguably the very best illegal house rave ever. They also debut ADAMSKI. I had two and a half 'mellow yellows', and was just totally in awe all night. there were people high up in the roof racking rocking away. also went to BIOLOGY #1.
Gosh i have no idea if i was there or not, myself and some older friends used to go to a lot of parties around the M25, Sunrise, Biology, Perception. Was only 15 at the time so i didnt really appreciate what was going on until a year or so later when the scene got bigger and bigger.
I stopped partying in 2001 but i now look back on my party time and smile cos i know i had fun and if i could, id do it all over again.
this sunrise was one of my favourite raves of 88. when flesh was played after the police decided to let it continue was something else, the place was jumping. miss those days
ITS ALL SUNRISE...I AM IN THE VIDEO...WAS PART OF SUNRISE...contact me on this account if you want to know anything.......all the music was compiled by steve proctor and was passed for publishing also.....If you watch acid house world in action you will also see some behind the scenes stuff.....and members of sunrise trying to get nights going and fighting the authhorities
as some!1 sed realy looks like Spectrum ratha than a Sunrise Party-but suppose it could b as they were just tryin 2 portray an overall picture of the scene.
This particular clip is 4 me the best I've ever seen 4 conjurin the feelin of bein in a club in 88/89 along with a bit I've seen on here for Sunrise at White Waltham in 1989 which is the best representation of a big Acid house party as opposed 2 a club. Absolutely amazin footage takes u right back wish I was still 23 and it was 1988 again!
the general opinion seems to be that house music is all mainstream now but i couldn't disagree more, you go to sankeys at the weekend when they haven't got a huge name on and you can hear underground minimal house all night long
@JACKTHENIHLIST minimal house is not underground. nothing is underground anymore. anyone who says they're 'underground' just because they take faceless pics and release records as 'unknown' is full of shit. people have access to everything these days, too much access. not like in the 80's where people had to rebel and fight opression of law enforcement in order to have fun and listen to music you couldn't hear anywhere else. now, you go on google or youtube and you find anything you want.
whats is hard for people to take in is that back then dance music / any experimental music was under ground not in the meain stream or radio staions etc so when you got together at "partys" which went on to be called raves with like minded for a few years it was bloody great
what we could be going through right now in clubbing is like the pre-1980's acid house scene with overpriced entry and the vibe being more about what you look like and wearing and drinking than music !
Great times never to be seen again..the music sounds so slow but back then seemed so fast! But still the music is better than the shit thats around today.Wish i could go back to those times just one last time...cheers for post.
Hmmm, there was still quite a lot of crap floating around back then, sadly more today, as more people believe it's "Made in 2 Mins" kind of music, know what I mean? I used to hear that a lot.
As soon as the hardware changes, so does the music.
But I wouldn't say that they were more funky.
Harder to mix.
Today it's should be about the Mix, back then it was the tunes.
Today you can show your talent with your own input as a mixer, back then it was who had 'The Tunes' as the supply was less...
@mmmrenkas that's only commercial house. try listening to some new deep and tech house like shonky, dyed soundorom etc. if you like things stripped down to a minimum.
@mmmrenkas Spot-on matey. It's not even house, not the house I grew up with as early as '87. I feel for the current generation, they'll never experience a scene quite like it. It was a flash in the pan, no guns or knives, just thousands of like minded people from all walks of life enjoying the vibe. RIP 87-89. :)
im gutted i missed all this im 19 and am into acid house and oldskool hardcore just bought a pair of 1210s, desperatly trying to bring it back, granted it will never be the same but there plenty of people out there that still have a massive passion for the music and the scene, recent raves such as society in london are doin acid house all nighters marshall jefferson is doing a 2 hour set next week at a society rave, keeping the vibe alive spreading the word, ACCCCCIEEEEEEEDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!!
Stupid copyright holders, ruining the world!
