i thought i was the only one who thought like this. after a google search i found this video. and i agree 110% with everything you said. i discovered mma in the early 2000's after being a big boxing fan since i was a little kid. i loved it and am still a big fan of both sports and ANY mma organization. i noticed long ago UFC fans boo more then any sport, and are arrogant bloodthirsty assholes. i read their shit all over the internet and i am disgusted and pissed off this is the mentality.

if you like fighting? there's no comparison between the 10min 1st rd. of Pride! that really separates the men from the boys. The vast majority of these ufc fighters couldn't even compete in real MMA/ValeTudo rules like in Pride!
4point attacks, slams, soccer kicks, stomps, the aforementioned 10min 1st rd.? just look at the history between the 2; the vast majority of better or best fights took place in PrideFC: Shogun vs Minotouro, Minotauro vs Sapp, Fedor vs Randleman, Silva vs Jackson 1&2. The list can go on and on, now compare that to ufc? Pride's environment is much more inclusive and conducive to pure fighting with fewer obvious restrictions. Here in the US; MMA has been severely castrated by corrupt commissions!

Pride had x3 times higher pay out, the honor, the light work, the fans. and with that came the (yes BETTER) fighters. They spent more money on the crowd and fighters and their sole purpouse wasnt about making the most doe in the end of the day unlike UFC. what i think matters the most is the enviorment which a fighter is fighting in. when ufc fighters to fight in pride, they make adjustments to their game which they normally dont make and most of the time they lose. and its the same when its the other way around. when they said "tougher than pride" thats not true. pride fighters had to make adjustments to their game. like the elbows, the cage, the stomping etc. if anything, UFC and PRIDE are equally competetive
From watching the many Pride and UFC fights.... I believe that the Pride tournaments are more difficult to fight in and to win titles in Pride you have to be VERY good. It don't matter where you begun your mma career, Pride tournaments are tough. You can go ask Anderson Silva about it.
The reason is that Pride actually pays their contracted fighters on average alot better than UFC(on average) for both winners and losers.
My opinion is that its much more difficult to be contracted with Pride than with the UFC. Pride pays much better, but the organization is much more selective.

I don't know if you've ever attended a UFC event, but the booing is so insanely loud. It's ridiculous. I've seen booing in Pride, but only when the fighters really really suck. You're right though, a lot of fans don't understand the fighting and technique involved in ground fighting. I enjoy Pride and UFC. They both employ great fighters. Too bad we won't see Fedor in UFC, I would really enjoy watching him beat Tim Silvia.

It's not like they don't know, it's that they don't care. The people are there for a show, and if they're not getting one, they have a right to voice their displeasure. It's not the responsibility of the audience to care about the entertainer, it's the responsibility of the entertainer to make the audience care.
There's just a huge lack of spectator intelligence in the US. It's a shame that the UFC promotes the majority of their events/fights like WWE grudge matches. Aside from that the UFC isn't as diverse as PRIDE, so a majority of the UFC's fighters are American and unfortunately people consider a lot of foreign fighters "the enemy". I don't care, I love the sport and all the chess matches within, it's too bad most of the crowds in the US can only play checkers.
Your appreciation for the more technical aspect of the sport doesn't make necessarily make you smarter, in the United States there is alot of stuff entertainment wise vying for the attention of the American audience, so it takes a lil bit of larger than life stuff to draw interest in the UFC. It's good for MMA as well as other sports to have great personalities to draw people in. That could be a contributing factor to why the UFC is the largest MMA promoter right now.

pride was such an exciting organization to watch, i loved every second of it and i am sad to see it go.
th ufc was where i first started to love MMA, its a great organization.
when pride and ufc were in competition the fans were getting the greatest mma events ever and less time in between shows. as a true fan you cant diss either, the more organizations and weight classes we have, the better fighters and fights we will see.

the fans at PRIDE they clapped for both fighters even if they couldnt get each other KO'D. now at UFC 97 when silva fought thales i hated it when the fans were booing. fuck you dana white ohh your embarassed by anderson's fight who cares. anderson was trying to make sure he wouldnt go to the ground and thales was trying to get him to the ground. they both were trying very hard using their martial arts skills. PRIDE was better cause there fans showed more love even when a fight was boring.

As a fan of the sport for a long time your it's all mma statement is true but flawed. I'm a huge fan of both orgs that are now one. But it kills me with the rules diffrence. I beleave the Pride rules are better for the fans the statment you made about ufc fans booing when it goes to the ground and the pride fans don't stems from respect but also from the fact the ground game there in pride had a diffrent element knees to the head, stomps and scoccer kicks. Northsouth pos n ufc means nothing.

Claimming which org is better based on the fighters it's stupid they are all the same. A true MMA fan would appreciate both. Based on putting the best show PRIDE stil unbeatable it had the best intros, music, scenography, and stacked cards. 4point attacks, slams, soccer kicks, stomps, the aforementioned 10min 1st rd.? just look at the history between the 2; the vast majority of better or best fights took place in PrideFC: Shogun vs Minotouro, Minotauro vs Sapp, Fedor vs Randleman, Silva vs Jackson 1&2. The list can go on and on, now compare that to ufc? Pride's environment is much more inclusive and conducive to pure fighting with fewer obvious restrictions. Here in the US; MMA has been severely castrated by corrupt commissions!

Did any of you guys listen to what he said? I loved Pride and I love the UFC equally. What is/was better? Pride fans say Pride cuz of Fedor. Fedor is great, but the heavyweight div. is a joke. Nogueira is champion in the UFC now by default. Couture never lost his belt, he left it. Wanderlei Silva got ran out of the UFC before he went to Pride and became a superstar and when he returned the "overrated" Chuck Liddell beat him down. Griffin beat Shogun and Rampage.

Pride had x3 times higher pay out, the honor, the light work, the fans. and with that came the (yes BETTER) fighters. They spent more money on the crowd and fighters and their sole purpouse wasnt about making the most doe in the end of the day unlike UFC. But now since UFC bought pride ive been forced to watch it. and after a few events now, i can honestly say the spirit is gone. im just waiting for the heavyweight bout in DREAM and Affliction.

what i think matters the most is the enviorment which a fighter is fighting in. when ufc fighters to fight in pride, they make adjustments to their game which they normally dont make and most of the time they lose. and its the same when its the other way around. when they said "tougher than pride" thats not true. pride fighters had to make adjustments to their game. like the elbows, the cage, the stomping etc. if anything, UFC and PRIDE are equally competetive

From watching the many Pride and UFC fights.... I believe that the Pride tournaments are more difficult to fight in and to win titles in Pride you have to be VERY good. It don't matter where you begun your mma career, Pride tournaments are tough. You can go ask Anderson Silva about it.
The reason is that Pride actually pays their contracted fighters on average alot better than UFC(on average) for both winners and losers.

UFC and Pride are both great, well Pride was great, but as far as the audiences, not necessarily Fans, audiences watching the events of UFC are fucking ridiculous. Alot of them have no clue what the fuck is going on, they are just drunk people who want to watch somebody get hurt. I don't know if you've ever attended a UFC event, but the booing is so insanely loud. It's ridiculous. I've seen booing in Pride, but only when the fighters really really suck. You're right though, a lot of fans don't understand the fighting and technique involved in ground fighting. I enjoy Pride and UFC. They both employ great fighters. Too bad we won't see Fedor in UFC, I would really enjoy watching him beat Tim Silvia.

It's not like they don't know, it's that they don't care. The people are there for a show, and if they're not getting one, they have a right to voice their displeasure. It's not the responsibility of the audience to care about the entertainer, it's the responsibility of the entertainer to make the audience care.

There's just a huge lack of spectator intelligence in the US. It's a shame that the UFC promotes the majority of their events/fights like WWE grudge matches. Aside from that the UFC isn't as diverse as PRIDE, so a majority of the UFC's fighters are American and unfortunately people consider a lot of foreign fighters "the enemy". I don't care, I love the sport and all the chess matches within, it's too bad most of the crowds in the US can only play checkers.

Your appreciation for the more technical aspect of the sport doesn't make necessarily make you smarter, in the United States there is alot of stuff entertainment wise vying for the attention of the American audience, so it takes a lil bit of larger than life stuff to draw interest in the UFC. It's good for MMA as well as other sports to have great personalities to draw people in. That could be a contributing factor to why the UFC is the largest MMA promoter right now.

I agree with alot of what you said, but I disagree on the booing thing. I myself wouldn't boo, if I'm going to sit and watch 2 guys fight, their effort and the sheer fact they're risking their lives for my entertainment is enough for me. But it's still entertainment and the audience has a right to boo if they're not pleased, they don't have a right to throw things or attack guys, but they have a right to boo whether you like it or not

Like it matters anyway, UFC bought Pride out, were in it together, The former Pride owners leeched the organisation and bled it before they sold it. If anything Pride fans should respect Zuffer for saving it.

what i don't get is... and correct me if i'm wrong here... whether your in PRIDE or UFC it is down to your trainers and yourself on how good you are right? take fedor for example... is he a fantastic fighter because of PRIDE or his training and ability... well i suppose you could argue he has had good match experience with good fighters but you could say the same for fighters in the UFC... ultimately fighters fight for themselves you have to remember that.

I agree w/The Spider Mind that a lot of the anti-UFC ppl are just America haters. Oh well, they are mostly just jealous of our way of life...Boo Fucking Hoo. I like both federations, but now they are basically merged, which I think is kick ass. And for the comments about Chuck Norris or Bruce Lee, the real truth is, traditional (limited) martial arts are far inferior to MMA, sorry.

A lot of the anti-UFC people are just anti americans who are seeking another opportunity to bash america-- which is why a lot of their comments make no sense. They are based upon hatred, rather than reason.
