@chablehh then krav is a big marketing concept. money making. the instructors can fight because of years of jiu jitsu/ wrestling/ boxing. krav is most of the times just basic military self defense. its like the vitamin advertising with muscled guys on steroids on the package, and make you believe you become strong from that vitamine.

there's no krav maga. the krav maga is a self defence technic, a krav maga man should wait for an attack from the other, and just do something special technic. this is a piece of shit, not krav maga...
It's not necessarily lethal.. but the military versions of the techniques generally are. The civillian ones are going to hurt, stun, or even put your attacker down for a bit so you can get out of there; and the law enforcement ones shouldn't cause as much damage and generally allow you to restrain the attacker.
You're quite right, though. It's for self defense, not competition.

I agree with MrJakeamoe. The red hat guy obviously has some fight experience but that wasn't Krav. It looked more like brawling/kind-a-sort MMA. In Krav we learn ground work in case it goes to the ground not to bring it there. He's lucky the "BJJ" guy wasn't that good. @snacksters We spar fully padded and go all out. With any fight style/ sport you have to spar if you want to get better.

When you're trained to fight, i believe you should be trained to survive, not to entertain on TV, leave that to the "Jersey Shore" (poor entertainment) Turn fighting into a sport and add rules and you break down the harsh elements of the streets. Everyone says that Krav Maga isn't in UFC or MMA, and they're right. You wanna know why? Because Krav Maga is too harsh for UFC. It is taught so that you can kill someone if you have to, not to be used in a ring like a bunch of toddlers at a daycare.
@jmania21 The rules of mma, while restrictive from the 'street fight' POV, are made the way they are to emulate realistic environments where pretty much everything is permitted, and still assure the safety of competitors. Thus, it's the ideal context to prove the effectiveness of combat arts.
Also, in the majority of the 'real' self defense situations killing your opponent is not an acceptable alternative, from a legal POV, so as a krav maga practitioner you should be able to deal with them.
@jmania21 Finally, pretty much every MA that's part of the 'standard' mma fighter curriculum has those kind of techniques, that are just not acceptable in the controlled environment of the ring.
Combat systems, as everything really, except for religion or axioms in general, must prove their effectiveness in some way. BUT, a proving method in which the death of the ones that participate in it is acceptable, is just absurd and unsustainable. MMA's are not perfect, but they're all we've got.
You cannot practice krav maga on a ring, unless they let you do kicks in the nuts, pinches on the eyes and that kind of stuff that is really hardcore but is what they teach at krav maga, because thats what you should do in a real street fight where your life is in real danger and there are no referees or anything like that. Anyway, it was a good video and a good fight, of course they are not pro mma fighters but that wasnt the point of the video in first place.

didn't even watched the whole video. I've trained boxing, capoeira and i've been training krav maga and jiu jitsu in the last two years. Krav maga is really effective when you're on the streets, fighting for your physical integrity. In a ring, when there are rules, krav maga isn't half of what jiu jitsu can be in terms of submit you opponent to your wills. Krav Maga is meant to protect your life, jiu jitsu is meant for compete against other jiu practitioners. It's NOT the same thing.

I study Commando Krav Maga ( CKM) along with Integrative Combative Concepts ( ICC )...Its impossible to find CKM fights because it is an Israeli Special Ops training system and the Basic end result is Death or serious damage to your opponents body..Not trying to come across as trying to sound tough but it is honestly a great system if studied under someone with a strong background..Went from Okinawa Shorin Ryu to Jiu Jitsu and then to CKM and ICC..Check it out man..You'll love it

If a Krav Maga guy goes to a ring, there is a chance he will lose, but that depends on the fighter and how skilled they are in the ring because in there you've got rules. However, if any of the other martial artist go to the Krav Maga world trying to pull off their techniques is for sure they are gonna die because they are not traned to fight multiple opponents, the dont gauge the eyes, do groin kicks or train to fight a guy with a knife or a weapon.
I think a real Thai from Thailand who has been fighting since he could walk would beat the crap out of some guy that takes Krav Maga class 2 times per week... Even in the street... But a Israeli special forces guy would own the crap out of a guy who's done MuayThai for 3 months. See how that works, it just depends on who is representing that art. Yeah, and MuayThai was originally for war as well. MuayThai fighters from Thailand are extremely respectable and awesome people. They don't pick fights either, they do ring fighting, but that's not picking a fight. Both are good, just depends who is representing the art.

How is this even fair? The Krav Maga dude shouldn't be wearing protective gear. The kickboxer (which is in this case a bad one anyway), stands no fuckin chance of damaging his oponnent, but the Krav Maga dude can do (counter)attacks protective gear can't protect from. It's pretty much a handicap.
im not an expert but it looks like the BJJ guy had chances to do the trap, rol escape variation at many points during the session. There was also a lot of space that the Krav guy left underneath him when mounring, the BJJ guy could have used this to bridge or utilised the space for a different progression. I dont know im just a beginner but this is what it seems like

@jmania21 The rules of mma, while restrictive from the 'street fight' POV, are made the way they are to emulate realistic environments where pretty much everything is permitted, and still assure the safety of competitors. Thus, it's the ideal context to prove the effectiveness of combat arts.
Also, in the majority of the 'real' self defense situations killing your opponent is not an acceptable alternative, from a legal POV, so as a krav maga practitioner you should be able to deal with them.

@jmania21 Finally, pretty much every MA that's part of the 'standard' mma fighter curriculum has those kind of techniques, that are just not acceptable in the controlled environment of the ring.
Combat systems, as everything really, except for religion or axioms in general, must prove their effectiveness in some way. BUT, a proving method in which the death of the ones that participate in it is acceptable, is just absurd and unsustainable. MMA's are not perfect, but they're all we've got.

You cannot practice krav maga on a ring, unless they let you do kicks in the nuts, pinches on the eyes and that kind of stuff that is really hardcore but is what they teach at krav maga, because thats what you should do in a real street fight where your life is in real danger and there are no referees or anything like that. Anyway, it was a good video and a good fight, of course they are not pro mma fighters but that wasnt the point of the video in first place.

That guy trained Bjj and the other guy was a horrible practioner. Krav doesn't go to the ground most of the time from everything I've seen that is the last thing they want to do.

You cannot do krav in a ring. The reason krav maga is so effective is because there are no rules and therefore fighters will not hold back in real life situations. Put Muhhumed Ali in the ring with a krav fighter and he will fuck the krav fighter up, put MA against a krav fighter on the street (give MA a knife and an extra mates aswel if you like) and the krav guy will own them both.

didn't even watched the whole video. I've trained boxing, capoeira and i've been training krav maga and jiu jitsu in the last two years. Krav maga is really effective when you're on the streets, fighting for your physical integrity. In a ring, when there are rules, krav maga isn't half of what jiu jitsu can be in terms of submit you opponent to your wills. Krav Maga is meant to protect your life, jiu jitsu is meant for compete against other jiu practitioners. It's NOT the same thing.

I study Commando Krav Maga ( CKM) along with Integrative Combative Concepts ( ICC )...Its impossible to find CKM fights because it is an Israeli Special Ops training system and the Basic end result is Death or serious damage to your opponents body..Not trying to come across as trying to sound tough but it is honestly a great system if studied under someone with a strong background..Went from Okinawa Shorin Ryu to Jiu Jitsu and then to CKM and ICC..Check it out man..You'll love it

If a Krav Maga guy goes to a ring, there is a chance he will lose, but that depends on the fighter and how skilled they are in the ring because in there you've got rules. However, if any of the other martial artist go to the Krav Maga world trying to pull off their techniques is for sure they are gonna die because they are not traned to fight multiple opponents, the dont gauge the eyes, do groin kicks or train to fight a guy with a knife or a weapon.

How is this even fair? The Krav Maga dude shouldn't be wearing protective gear. The kickboxer (which is in this case a bad one anyway), stands no fuckin chance of damaging his oponnent, but the Krav Maga dude can do (counter)attacks protective gear can't protect from. It's pretty much a handicap.

im not an expert but it looks like the BJJ guy had chances to do the trap, rol escape variation at many points during the session. There was also a lot of space that the Krav guy left underneath him when mounring, the BJJ guy could have used this to bridge or utilised the space for a different progression. I dont know im just a beginner but this is what it seems like
