i think a very good rendition. my most loved are jessye norman in the "a porträt" video, te Kanawa with Solti and the one with Patricia Freres, a soprano from Luxemburg. They all have deep soul in their voice.
@swiftsboy With a voice and interpretation like this, who cares about facial expression? Yet i beg to differ anyhow, i love every damn last one of them!
totally disagree...there is no right or wrong in interpreting this song. It can also be sung with the thought of a beautiful memory and thankfulness...love hurts, but you still think fondly of the memory of it. That is more in the spirit of Hermann von Gilm....in my humble opinion.

She rushed at the begining, and at times her eyes looked like she wasnt sure of what words were next. Her tone was very nice though. I prefer Jessye Normans, though HER facial expressions were odd at times, but her total performance of the song was amazing, I understood what she was singing even without subtitles.
she was not "unsure of what her next words were". if u understand the text of the song u would understand what her expressions are meant to show. It's beautifully performed and her facial animation and the nuances it brings to the piece is transcends the listening experience.
This is one of my favorite lieder -- and first time I ever heard it sung by Seefried. What a splendid performance! Phrasing, dynamics, color, diction all right on the mark.
She seems so great that, though she died twenty years ago, we haven't had sufficient time to asses her. Her voice, layered with emotions, her natural expression, and her obvious intelligence made her able to convey the perpetual promise that music is.
She's so awesome! So much sass!

Lovely voice. Poor girl was in serious need of a stylist, though. Hair and outfit are both HORRIBLE...what's with the grey streak?

I knew that she had a great reputation, and I can now see why (thanks to Jack).
There are some unfortunate facial(and other) mannersims,BUT these do not outweigh the sheer beauty of her voice.
BTW,sometimes,at certain camera angles she looks like Miriam Margolyes!
Apologies as those outside the UK may not know who this is (she is an actress).

I like it - but find it a tad fast, and I am not overly fond of the tonal qualities during her "habe danke" - up until the final one, which is lovely

I heard her at the ORTF she had no such a powerful voice, but nice liric one.... and well sung.
