i am around bulls and cows all the time, probably 1 out of every 20 bulls is naturally mean, most bulls buck(just not well), the flank strap on a bull is a safty precaution .when talking about cattle everyone will have a difrent opinion. some may be right and some may be wrong, but dont trust what you read from a book or off the internet, everyones opinion is bias, form your own from experiance or dont try to tell me what im doing wron when you dont know what your talking about

They are not treated with Dignity and respect as you say they are, they are hauled around in cramped stock trailers, and herded from one corral to the other. @siansvids They do NOT kill the bulls after rodeos.. These bulls receive great care, get thousands spent on them, cost thousands.. One bull (forgive me for not remembering his name) lost a horn and they spent upwards of $10,000 to keep from having to put him down.. They receive round the clock security to make sure that nothing happens to them and to keep them safe. When they retire the bulls they use them for breeding and let them live their life out in peace on some big ranch.

I wish I only had to work 8 seconds a day. On my ranch I have to work 16 hrs to feed my family. I don't ride rodeo any more but I have show horses. I know one thing about horses they sure like to work. It makes them happy to win makes them happy to have a job and a purpose in life. If you want to see animal curelty watch a mountian lion kill a colt. Watch Cloud and see the stallion pick up a colt and break its neck.

When they're kicking wildy and in all sorts of directions and just low to the ground, it puts them in a position that's easier for them to break legs or fall over on top of the rider. @AnimalLeftist Actually, more horses are injured and put to slaughter in other equine sports than in rodeo. Yes I have broken a horse in before, and yes I have ridden bucking horses. Bronc riding is a sport. The broncs that are used were horses that either couldn't be broken in and trained, or were born and raised to buck people off. It's not like it's unnatural. Bucking is a natural instinct all horses have the first time they have a person on their back.

The flank strap just straightens the motion, and yes it is safer for the horse to buck higher and straighter, rather than kicking feet out in all sorts of directions. It helps their coordination as well. You won't see the truth because you've never been around horses in your life, have never been around rodeo, and are believing the bullshit the PETA website tells you.

@TheSqueenie They're trained for it. If they weren't in rodeos they'd just be used for veal. The calves are not shocked either. Poking doesn't hurt either. It's not like we poke them hard. A calf's neck is so much harder than a person's, you wouldn't even believe it. The roping doesn't even hurt them. If it hurt them, obviously you wouldn't see them used for another rodeo. Tails are pulled occasionally but not in a harmful way. They're also not broken either.

@TheSqueenie I've seen the training process the calves, steers, broncs, bulls, and horses go through to be at rodeos. So obviously I believe myself. I've seen the SHARK videos. Those incidents are so rare. Look at the statistics of animal injuries at rodeos that vets have taken. Over the course of 200 rodeos, only 0.00047 animals were injured. Statistics don't lie.

@TheSqueenie We use the tails to lead calves through the roping chutes. We don't pull them or twist them hard or in a way to inflict pain. If someone else does, that's their problem, because I don't do that. Just because one rodeo is abusive, doesn't mean they all are. It's in OUR best interest to keep the animals well taken care of and uninjured... How else would the sport work if the animals weren't taken care of? We need animals that can work so that we can do our job.

They are not treated with Dignity and respect as you say they are, they are hauled around in cramped stock trailers, and herded from one corral to the other. One bull (forgive me for not remembering his name) lost a horn and they spent upwards of $10,000 to keep from having to put him down.. They receive round the clock security to make sure that nothing happens to them and to keep them safe. When they retire the bulls they use them for breeding and let them live their life out in peace on some big ranch.

To all of the people who think rodeo is abuse.you guys are retarded....you need to study up on rodeo and maybe go to a few before you go hating on the sport. Just like everyother sport there may be one or two abusers at a rodeo, but rodeo is NOT abuse! Ive been doing rodeo all of my life and I seriously have never seen an animal abused at any of the rodeos ive been to.

@MissShannonShortcake The flank strap is there to make it safer for the horses you dipshit. When they're kicking wildy and in all sorts of directions and just low to the ground, it puts them in a position that's easier for them to break legs or fall over on top of the rider. You're a joke, not the equipment we use to keep these majestic animals safe.

@AnimalLeftist Actually, more horses are injured and put to slaughter in other equine sports than in rodeo. Yes I have broken a horse in before, and yes I have ridden bucking horses. Bronc riding is a sport. The broncs that are used were horses that either couldn't be broken in and trained, or were born and raised to buck people off. It's not like it's unnatural. Bucking is a natural instinct all horses have the first time they have a person on their back.

@AnimalLeftist You can't "make" a horse buck harder than it already can. The flank strap just straightens the motion, and yes it is safer for the horse to buck higher and straighter, rather than kicking feet out in all sorts of directions. It helps their coordination as well. You won't see the truth because you've never been around horses in your life, have never been around rodeo, and are believing the bullshit the PETA website tells you.

Not every horse will buck like the horses you see in rodeos. The broncs are specially bred and trained to do what they do consistently. I love those horses, and I don't torment them.... You tenderize meat by beating the shit out of it, which is not what we do with bucking horses. The meat tends to be really tough when the animal exersizes a lot... Guess what bucking horses do? They move quite a bit. They're not bred to be tormented, nor are they forced to buck. They do it because that's what they want to do.

@TheSqueenie They're trained for it. If they weren't in rodeos they'd just be used for veal. The calves are not shocked either. Poking doesn't hurt either. It's not like we poke them hard. A calf's neck is so much harder than a person's, you wouldn't even believe it. The roping doesn't even hurt them. If it hurt them, obviously you wouldn't see them used for another rodeo. Tails are pulled occasionally but not in a harmful way. They're also not broken either.

@TheSqueenie I've seen the training process the calves, steers, broncs, bulls, and horses go through to be at rodeos. So obviously I believe myself. I've seen the SHARK videos. Those incidents are so rare. Look at the statistics of animal injuries at rodeos that vets have taken. Over the course of 200 rodeos, only 0.00047 animals were injured. Statistics don't lie.

@TheSqueenie We use the tails to lead calves through the roping chutes. We don't pull them or twist them hard or in a way to inflict pain. If someone else does, that's their problem, because I don't do that. Just because one rodeo is abusive, doesn't mean they all are. It's in OUR best interest to keep the animals well taken care of and uninjured... How else would the sport work if the animals weren't taken care of? We need animals that can work so that we can do our job.

bullshit, all bits are uncomfortable when the reins are yanked at. And yes a ill fitting saddle WILL hurt a horse's back and alot of horses dont like having saddles on. (especially the girth) Western riders are cruel the way they treat animals (not just horses) like calf roping and tight flank straps. Sick arseholes
