  • Hi, your video is really cool, thank you. I have the same problem like the other guys, I plug in my mac book pro 13" , i turn on first my LG hdtv and I plug in the computer and the tv with a hdmi cable. when a close my laptop, my tv does not register the hdmi plug in, so I can not see my main display on the tv. What else can i do?. Because a plug in a HP laptop to my tv with the same hdmi cable and i did not have any trouble. Thanks!

  • does it have sound if you use external speakers plugged into your 2009 macbook pro?

  • Can you use your monitors max resolution, or does it use the laptops max resolution?please answer someone.

  • Al Pacino!!!!??!?

  • you sounds like Al Pacino! :p

  • After i close the lid the display never comes back, what do i do? please help :L

  • @jammyhere123 I had the same problem, your computer must be plugged into the charger(batttery adapter) when you have it connected to a screen, that's why it's shutting down.

It can also be some preferences on your screen, the other problem can be that you haven't been in the preferernces and changed the Anynyet+. Autoshutdown must be set OFF on the tv, otherwise it wont connect, this worked fine on my Samsung P2470HD tv.

Sorry for the bad english, hope that helped a bit anyway :)

  • what do you need for this job? and how much?..i have a tv with an HDMI outlet already and an HDMI cable but what else do i need?

  • i don't wanit to close mine i just want to use this as my main display like in Windows. can i do that? or is it NOT able t do this =/

  • @007dude13 ya it's super easy, open system preferences and click on displays. After you have done that, click on arrangement at the top of the System Preferences window. There should be two blue boxes that represent your monitors, one of them has a white bar at the top. Simply drag that white bar to the other screen, wait a second for it to recalibrate the displays and you're done.I hope this helps!

  • I do this with my Macbook Pro when I have it connected to my display, and I was just wondering how I would transfer the main display back to the laptop without turning off the the laptop or unplugging the MiniDisplay Port to DVI adapter, I tried several methods (such as opening the Macbook, going to System Prefs and playing around with the 'Display' settings) but nothing seemed to work, so I was wondering if you had any advice to offer

  • why was this marked as spam ?

  • HELP plz!!! i'd connect my alu macbook to my HDready 32" bravia LCD via Minidisplay port to VGA cable i should have get 1366*768 but i only can get 1280*768... i did use some software but i couldnt exactly figure how to do it and its just mess wit my os.

  • why when i conect my adapter to the screen then the screen is steal black?and then mac just work like nothing happend?

  • Love these Vids. Michael Manna rocks!

  • Can you give us a update on the MacBook pro. How is it holding up?

  • How did you fix your display at that pole? Is it a special one?

  • You can actually use the internal MacBook screen as an extended screen at the same time as the other one is the main display. Instead of shutting it, you can just drag the little menu bar at the top of the screen in the display arrangement panel to the bigger display.

  • this is so sick... how big can your screen be... i herd 30 inch:S i have a 32inch lcd:S plz answer me:P hah

  • is it possible to use hdmi on it?

  • you really think that this feature is limited to the new mbps?! this works even on my 1st gen macbook white, and I am using this for years.

If you are worried about head issues, you can open the mabcook again after you closed and sent it to sleep, without turining its screen on again. but if you need the macbook screen (at least in my case) you need to disconnect the monitor cable from the mb.

  • This is great! I was told only the 17" has the capabilities to work on a monitor with the screen closed.

I just ordered my 13" MBP along with a 26" Vizio monitor.

This makes me very excited. Thanks!

  • how did u get ur macbook pro so fast??

  • Cool feature! Thanks for demonstrating :)

Does closing the lid and still running the MBP cause any heat/ventilation issues?

I'm considering buy one of these (first ever Mac) and I'm wondering how hot they get, especially being aluminium.

  • I don't know if you have ever used teleport before. It will make it so you can use one mouse and keyboard for both computers. I use it for my mini and macbook. Works great.

  • minidisplay to dvi adapter

  • how did you connect the screen to the macbook?

    With a displayport converter?

  • Check his other video /watch?v=4xY9LhkyxwU

    "Mini display port to DVI"

  • wow this is nice. i think im gonna dust off that Westinghouse 17" display i put away when i bought my MBP and connected my Mac Mini to my HDTV.. thanks for showin this.

  • i bought the HP 2159m HD display and damn this thing is huge!! your tip worked, but i had to move the mouse or hit the external keyboard to wake my laptop up again with the new display

  • Your videos really are a pleasure to watch, such great information, and I really appreciate that they are succinct:).

  • you can go into system preferences and mirror it

  • that is a nice display on that macbook.

  • whats the intro song called and by?

  • Yes, that's really cool.

  • That's a nice feature.

  • nice! :) am gonna try it.
