I think more than anything, they're being cynical about politics in general, and the ref to "New World" may be going back to 1492, if that's your POV (say you're Cherokee or whatev.) I saw Exene at Davey's Uptown in Kansas City this weekend (July 19, 2008). She can still tell a good story. I sang New World to her in the parking lot and thanked her for the songs.
