  • Sorry to read all the arguing gone on here.

I loved X. The power of that band was something I picked up on way back with their debut album and I was totally blown away by Under the Big Black Sun, which I consider their best. So much great music from this band, incredible really.

  • I have never got a job from a poor man, Obomba is makin us all poor. Fire them all 2012.

  • @TheRmbx funny thing is, they're singing about the reagan era.

  • I am sorry but I was wife number 2. Look at my name. I never changed it back. I hope you don't think he was born "Billy Zoom." He is a great guitar player, but just a man.

  • Zoom wouldn't care what you think. He didn't care what I thought and I was married to him.

  • @akindell you're a Lier you were never married to the great Billy Zoom!

  • all old people raving lol

  • @mcmezzer duh ha ha ha ha so fresh, original and downright insightful...not-now go back to spankin baby spidey monkey to ur britney spears records

  • @mcmezzer Sorry if I came off kinda mean there....that's just how us "old" motherfuckers tend to be. But I'm tryin, ringo. I'm tryin REAL HARD.....8D

  • One of my fave lead guitar tracks - any band, any time.

  • The wonderfull 80,s living in Los Angeles .

I met my wife in Holly Wood...

  • I feel sorry for those teens that spent time studying the lyrics. To me it was "Oh cool, Mobile Alabama, The Motor City , New World, lets skate, get laid and listen to cool guitar riffs.

  • ronald reagan may be one of the worse human beings to ever walk this earth

  • Reagan played a major part in ushering in the new world. "Tear down this wall!" was the challenge from Reagan to Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev to destroy the Berlin Wall. Reagan played major role in achieving FREEDOM for people of the Eastern Bloc.

Liberal California is heavily taxed. I guess this is Exene's New World? A California Welfare State where there is no job creation b/c high taxes stiffle economic development.

    Great band though.

  • @flatheadpower2000 haha so you dig the fact that Reagan lowered taxes for the rich and raised them for the poor? Reaganomics ftw eh?

  • @zosothedestroyer

How do you think the poor are doing under Obama ?? I'll tell you - the poverty level is growing along with the unemployment rate. Where are all those green jobs and shovel-ready jobs Obama promised??

Reagan's policies are widely recognized as bringing about the longest peacetime economic GROWTH in U.S. history. The 2 main pillars of Reaganomics: (1) reduce government spending and (2) reduce taxes. How many times must it be repeated: IT'S THE ECONOMY STUPID.

  • @flatheadpower2000 yup, the 80's were a fantastic time economically.....what fucking country did you grow up in? Certainly not America

  • @zosothedestroyer From 1983 until 1990 was sustained economic growth. That's why Reagan was elected to a 2nd term (1985-1989). Reagan's economic policies worked. Obamas economic policies don't. With out economic growth millions of people are suffering.

Many young persons graduating from high school or college cannot find work. This is supposed to be the NEW WORLD ??

  • @flatheadpower2000 Many young people graduating from high school and college cant find a job due to republicans like bush, not Obama bud. No idea how you think Obama caused the recession we're in

  • It was better before they voted for what's his name. It applied then, and it still applies now.

At least Billy is not for the nanny state, and I suspect that deep down John and Exene would not be for it either -- at least in some areas.

    Bottom line -- GREAT BAND.

  • The New World is here and it sucks .. bigger government, big government overspending, higher taxes, less jobs, more people dependent on government, and bigger government waste.

California is already one of the most heavily taxed states in the nation.

  • ahaha, Billy Zoom always has that classic stand xD I love X

  • Where's the original MTV vid to this song? I haven't heard the album version of this song in eons. No station where I'm from will even touch anything by this landmark punk act.

  • this was supposed to be the new world not its the NWO

    voted for whatshismaname

    aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah its so worse now

thnks exense ane john doe you nevver knew how baaaaaaaaaaaad it has gotten now

yuwre the greatet amreican rock band thanks

  • Saw them live several times, the strangest venue being Disneyland in 1985. No topping their live performances. So glad they're back together. So sorry to hear about Exene's diagnosis. GREAT BAND!

  • Still relevant!

  • More relevant now, I thought that the democrats "can do it".

  • @VanHowle They carefully don't say who they're talking about. Remember this song is from the 80s and the Prez then was Saint Reagan. I think more than anything, they're being cynical about politics in general, and the ref to "New World" may be going back to 1492, if that's your POV (say you're Cherokee or whatev.) Don't trivialize the power of this song by putting a partisan spin on it.

  • oops - billy

  • I don't agree with Billy Zoom's Christian-conservative politics, but he is one of the all-time punk rock guitarists, and maybe even one of the all-time rock-and-roll guitarists along with Cliff Gallup and Scotty Moore.

  • I saw Exene at Davey's Uptown in Kansas City this weekend (July 19, 2008). She can still tell a good story. I sang New World to her in the parking lot and thanked her for the songs.

  • You are truly a moron - learn who your punk legends are, rookie.

  • @prestodan He said rock and roll and he's not wrong. Zoom would be pleased to hear Gallup and Moore mentioned as antecedents. And stop with the name calling.
