  • Tool enhanced my life more than any other band ever.

  • Is it bad that I feel somewhat superior to the rest of humanity that does not indulge in Tool? Like I have learned something they havent or discovered an uncharted dimension? I dont think I should. This song heals wounds, mends broken hearts, and gives reason and hope to those in despair. Such subsurface and meaningful emotions run through my every fiber of being. Rock on "]["([])([])||_ !!

  • most meaningful band ever

  • and before we pine away

  • when he sings the word ego btw

  • 8:24 i like how much different that sounded than the orig. not that the original is even close to bad.

  • Greatest band of our era hands down! If you aren't getting high just listening to them...that's ok...they make you high!

If you aren't enlightened after listening to them...you are a lost cause.

  • Haha man I love maynard. Look at him then, facing away from the audience in what appears to be some sort of loincloth. I just saw Puscifer a couple weeks ago and he embraces the crowd so much; he doesn't give a fuck anymore. He knows he has created some of the greatest music in history.

  • This song is like a prayer for me.

  • doce boludos entraron aca buscando reggaeton y se encontraron con ARTE!

  • man tool is like a four man orchestra

  • @x4aperfecttool yeah i totally agree

  • Absolutely Fan fucking tastico..

  • Most amazing tool Song ever! Really wish they would have played this one of the days at red rocks last year

  • A tough-mental song that gives you stregnth! Fuckin' balls!!!

  • this song is my tool right now out of difficult time. thanks Tool

  • One of my all time favorite songs and my absolute favorite by tool. They need to play this next tour.

  • THE MOON TELLS ME A SECRET

  • @bristlepad BEST QUOTE EVER!

  • YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • This song is awesome as shit.

  • I love tool, and I'm a girl. And the comments below about most girls only liking things that are mainstream is sad but true. But tool was the only band that ever made sense and I'll forever always be a fan.

  • Before I pine away.......

    Before I PINEEEEEE awayyyyy...

    Fan fucking tastic.

  • This song just.....makes sense.

  • You know, it would be nice to know when the new album is coming out.damn.i cant wait.

  • @green66vw may 2012

  • is that maynard playing the guitar?

  • Thank you so much for posting! I was at this concert, and I knew then and there that I was a part of something very special in time. I have had the opportunity to meet Danny several times since then, and I told him how this show changed my life :)

  • Anyone wanting to try and understand this song (keyword being "try") I suggest you wiki "Narcissus" (mythology ).

  • Maynard does some funny looking shit live. It's great.

  • Fucking PERFECT. Jesus, Tool is amazing.

  • Tool karaiii *___*

  • Danny Carey is a god at drums and maynard is a god at riting lyrics and tool is the best band i have ever seen live they sound so good its unreal parabola is the best song live with the Ballons floating in the middle of the show love it

  • 1:29 - 1:42 if priests sung like this, churches would be packed.

  • no Sarangi? sadface :/

  • Whilst listening to this song, i decided to float through space for a few decades, before long a non exsistant creature named david joined me on my journy, with promisesof the meaning of life. We arrived in a strange dark spot in the universe where the stars were strange colours and things felt heavy, and i heard a faint noise in the distance. A black hole appeared and i reached towards it, when i touched it, it turned to sand. Within the sand were puzzle pieces, upon putting them together...

  • @07:11 looks lyk Justin is masturbatin lol :P

but who wudnt 2 such gr8 music :D

  • @jellydonut10 then you need to crawl out of your hole and meet some better girls. :/

  • id probably like tool even more if the lyrics were in another language

  • awesome

  • Originally, Disposition, Reflection, and Triad were all a single track but they decided to cut it up.

  • Tool is the best band in history!!! And guess what. Their songs actually MEAN something. X3

  • God, they are flawless.

  • evolve [ih-volv]

    3. to come forth gradually into being; develop; undergo evolution

    PLEASE, VOTE !

  • "And you will come to find that we are all one mind.. Capable of all that's imagined and all conceivable... Just let the light touch you.. And let the words spill through.. And let them pass right through.. Bringing out our hope and reason ... before we pine away" -MJK

  • Pink Floyd from hell!

  • WELL I BELIVE WE NEED MORE FEMALE ROCKER AND IF THAY CAN PUT UP A BAND AND HAVE THIS STYLE OF MUSIC THAT WOULD BE AWSOME AND I'M A GUY TELLING ALL YOU ROCK IT OUT!!!!!!!!1

  • @004482rb do you even understand what this song is about?

    for fuck sakes.....its called reflection

  • WHY IS THERE A LINK TO CHRISTINA AGUELIERLEREALELA IN THE SUGGESTIONS?!?! FAIL

  • is it me or is Justin using distortion on his bass?

  • I love tool and Maynard another band I love is Alice in chains, but unfortunetly they have another singer...no one in my opinion can ever replace Layne Staley!!!

  • @krisluvs1 Good to hear u drop Layne's name on a Tool video. Seriously. I fell in love with Alice n Chains before I really got in to Tool but now they are my 2 favorite bands. Hard to choose a favorite between the two! But yeah, Layne and Maynard 2 best musicians ever in my book! I think I might like Layne a touch better just cuz he seemed like a genuinely nice, caring guy.....Maynard comes off like a dick but still love him. But keep it real yo, u got good taste in music thats fo sho!

  • most bands have member that can be replaced, but not TOOL! Hope these four will be playing together forever!!! ; )

  • just amazing. i feel very privileged to be able to listen to tool. Every fucking day!!!

  • the whole group is amazing, but with this song, id like them to concentrate on the vocals, , you all might say 'typical', put this song has a wonderful helplessness that is performed amazingly by maynard, i dont know how to explain it, this song feeds his vocals so healthily,, guess I can say this is his greatest contribution. Well anyways, this song both musically and lyrically is lush with meaning, emotion, rhythm, story, epicness

  • before we piiiiinaway

  • I don't think there would be a better time for acid than a Tool concert.

  • @AssassinTaco to be honest, I'd be completly clean under a Tool concert to get the full experience and remember it 100%

  • @Sargatha The first time yes, but the second time no. And are you saying you haven't been to a Tool concert yet? Shame on you, hopefully you're pioneering a cure for cancer instead. Good thing the wonders of life are giving you another chance to see them, don't mess up this time!

  • @RageSchism as I live in Europe I haven't been able to see them live. But after the Australian tour, perhaps they will do an Europe tour as well! And yes, I won't mess up :)

  • @Sargatha I was referring to their new upcoming album which would enable you to see them live without a doubt, considering that they would most likely go over seas with it as well.

  • @RageSchism I am hoping they do. Seeing them live is something I want to do before I die, and then I'll die happy :)

  • Sometimes a song isn't just a song, it's an experience. This my friends is nothing but that.

  • my only complaint is this song made me jizz myself

  • @Roop433 lol awesome

  • The most beautiful music ever put together by four men is Tool.

  • I was at that show, and it was a religious experience. That was a time in my life that I wish I could go back to and change a lot of things. Seeing this takes me right back.

  • This is very very hipnotic to me, too spacy, must----- try ----not--- to let my mind----- wander ---ugh, ----must try not to let my mind wander. ----help! lol. Love it.

  • This is such a powerful spiritual song that is always appreciated when performed live! Out of all the Tool song's this specific one goes beyond expression on a personal level. Really wish the would finally decide to add this in the playlist during tours since they've already came to terms with Third Eye. I say it's about that time that this song came back around, Next year we shall see!

  • @Mzler1387 Don't we all wish, however he could never sing this anymore, which blows because this is one of there best songs.. classic maynard

  • @teebs05 i don't think so, I got to say I think Maynard could handle this live. If I can he can. Its not even a hard one to sing. In fact all their stuff is really vocalist friendly because its all done so soft. With the exception of their first release. At least for my vocal cords any way

  • @confuseTHEmasses because if YOU, a young 20 something that doesn't sing for a living, can sing this song, of course a 50 year old who has been singing much harder songs than this for a living his entire life can handle it!

    this before you post

  • @Mzler1387 I'd like to see them to arrange this differently...like they did with Pushit on Salival

  • @nukebacon876 yeah, totally, i love this song, but it would be awesome to see how they would redo it

  • Yeah, totally, I love this song but it would be awesome to see how they redo it

  • @Mzler1387 Yeah i think disposition, reflection, and triad is a Ritual..rather yet the enitre lateralus album is a ritual a spell filled with secret messages and complex geometry..........

  • if you look one the back of the album art, the 3 songs are connected by a bridge illustrated as a line diagram

  • first bass song im gunna learn when i get my bass, this and lateralus then some Megadeth >:)

  • @Maxpow33r Try to go for The grudge and Reflection!! more challenging

  • love the bass

  • disposition, reflection, and triad were deffinitely the highlight of this concert!

  • Wow...look at Justin at the start...totally spooky. He's probably my second fav member.

  • nice recording nice one mate....shame about matey's head gettin in the way,but good effort

  • Reflection = Perfection!!!!!!

  • great meaning...a life lesson

  • Great job on the camera. One of the best songs ever conceived by a musical entity.

  • What kind of d-bag would down vote this? This is an awesome performance, par for the course for Tool!

  • I did not know maynard played guitar

  • @davidholmes282

yeah i only seen him on a keyboard for vicarious....where the heck is adam?? i can't see him

  • @12dollacigarette I heard adam is playing a little footkeyboard thing for this song

  • @93suckmykiss you're right, he plays a synth with his foot while playing guitar, i just can't visually see him on stage in this video. Adam Jones is by far my favorite guitarist

  • @12dollacigarette he is also my favorite guitarist. hes simple and organic, yet complex. it's all about feel for him.

  • What an amazing show this would have been to go to...

  • That is the meanest sounding bass riff ever!!

  • @rocky3330 Except that's Adam playing the repeating riff.. Good bass though still.

  • There are no words to describe how this song makes me feel !!

  • @abovetheinfluence247

it makes you feel under the influence

  • @ShroomSamich Well your actually right !! lol

  • Is there something better than Tool ? Hmm I dont think so ! Sry :)

  • Tool is the best of the best. Can't wait to see them June 20th!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @justinlover713

Goddamn it I hate you :( no dates announced near me yet.

  • beautiful song and lyrics....Amazing! Can't even explain how this song makes me feel. It just flows through your whole body like an endless wave. It's crazy!

  • @jellydonut10 I'm a girl and I love thinking about the meaning of their songs. I don't understand why people think girls can't like good music. I like looking up some of the references in their songs. Maynard is my favorite lyricist.

  • Stereotypically a lot of girls like either the really mainstream junk like bubblegum pop or rock or they like music they can dance to. I'm obviously not implying every girl is like that (thankfully lol). It's just less common to see women diggin' the mind altering sound of a band like Tool. Personally, though, I wish there were more woman out there who appreciates their material like you clearly do. I'm just going by personal experience in talking to a lot of women about music.

  • @ArtOfMe021 i love girls that rawk. jellydonut. lol. and if you 're looking up Maynard references, be prepared to Hide Away. hide away...hide away.....

  • i@Drew978 .........if you are referring to this song, the lyrics are pine away......just FYI

  • Comment removed

  • @Drew978 its pine away lol

  • @ArtOfMe021 who said girls can't like good music? that's bullshit

  • @ArtOfMe021 girls usually like brainless pop/dance music like lady gaga or katy perry or rebecca black. usually.

  • @10000diamondeyes People in general tend to like that stuff, it's not just girls.

  • @ArtOfMe021

maybe because 90 percent of girls listen to complete garbage

  • I would love to see this song live.... Oh man, I love that bass riff.

  • How does anyone hold a camera through this? i'm so glad they did, thank you!!

  • whenever i used to listen to the lateralus album i would always kinda tune out after Lateralus (Song) but now i dig the FUCKING SHIT out of this song... and look at maynard rock out with some GUITAR... what a badass.

  • a lot of people make the argument that 10000 days is the musicians album. i disagree. i think that lateralus is the musician's album, while 10000 days is the artist's album.

  • @yeatsg agreed 100%

  • very psychadelic. more like psychadelic metal i think. Tool owns

  • i heard that Tool has to have alot of extra help when playing this song, Disposition, and Triad

  • modus ponens i <3 u

  • yeah, dude, they did rosetta stoned, 46 and 2, wings 1 and 2 and other stuff from the new album. that was at the 2008 show in okc. it's the best thing i've ever seen.

  • i think "talent" is an absolute understatement for these chaps. you havto respect the ultimate effort they have put in to gain the skill to enjoy their own music as they make it to share with joes of society , they have literally sold thier souls for us as artists who listen with open hearts

they have transended music from just a hobbie for nothing more than self gain we see everywhere to an artform like it used to be, compared to the likes of contemperary dali etc,

  • drumming in reflection quite nice

  • is maynard playing guitar??

  • Go maynard o.O! crazy lil' bastard

  • one of their best, straight up

  • Which of course makes it one of THE best.

  • @SpiralsHappen

Crucify the ego before its far too late .. and leave behind this place so blind an d cynical .. and you will come to find that we are all one mind capable of all thats imagined and inconcievable..

    Before we pine away..

    Before we pine away..

  • wow his biggest floor is so loud, you can hear it a lot, like boom, around 8:25 or so

  • wheres adam?

  • i hate how the crowd screams, just sit back and enjoy the music

  • Discovering spiritualty has a lot to do with it for some people. :-)

  • im not saying tool is completely inspired by phsychedelic substances... but i am sure they have taken inspiration from them. i wouldn't believe you if you tell me other wise.

i have never heard of a person imagining things like an eagle with eye's on its tail, spine and wings who didn't have some sort of "outside" inspiration.

look at their main artist guy alex grey, he is completely open about taking psychedelic drugs and he is a big part of tool's album art which

  • has some resemblance to their stage art.

overall i don't think people understand the contribution of drugs to human consciousness in general. it has been a huge part of our existence and state of mind whether people like it or not. so if a band tries to express mysticism to conciousness through their songs would it be so different from taking some natural hallucinogen?

i don't think so. although it could be a strange coincedence. but then again those are jerks.. because stone cold said so.

  • And you will come to find, that we are all one mind, capable of all that's imagined and all conceivable. That's what God is, to me. We're all connected, religion and language can get in the way. And people say TOOL is dark and Maynard's pessimistic!

  • Maynards singing is so possesive sounding!

  • this somg is crazy. Carey is nuts.

  • F@%#!*^ LOVE TOOL. BEST BAND EVER.

  • ...now take time to reflect, discover your truth, and make peace with it's demons....

  • Tool is like exactly what i need to keep going.... i only wish their next album has like 25 songs so i can wait the 6 years they take to bring a new album out :D I could listen to this particular song anytime of the day..... when i´m shiting, when im eating, when i wake up, when i go to sleep, when i feel like a peace of shit, when i feel like the coolest guy ever, when i have sex.... this song is perfect for whatever the fuck you´re doing.....

  • i just smoke weed and listen to it. hahaha.

  • carring on from what I said, Disposition, and Reflection tied together have a universal meaning, the meaning I don't know of but you can feel it.....it's fucking universal, it traverses through the cosmos and rymes with the cosmic pulse....but yea whateva

  • @0000zzz ya bro im tripping out man, dude intense..... its cause the grooves going.....

  • gotta be one of my fav songs by tool, how do they come up with shit THIS AWSOME?!?!?!? keep getting RSI playing this cunt on the bass aswell i swear down lol. amazing song.

  • they actually wrote this song for me

  • @NmHman127Nugget nope, it was for me

  • sorry zorker but alice and chains, nirvana and soundgarden could never amount to what TOOL is today. musically and lyrically, TOOL is on another level, you can say they are the PINK FLOYD, the ZEPPLIN of our time! no band could ever come close to these geniuses!

  • Could not agree more. I'm always telling people that "Tool is the Pink Floyd of metal." I don't like the metal genre very much at all, but Tool is my favorite band. They transcend any genre, really.

  • I agree. I saw Pink Floyd in 1994 and have seen Tool and A Perfect Circle a bunch of times. It's tough to top Pink Floyd in concert, but Tool gives them a good run for their money.

  • Comment removed

  • @PALTOOL1111 Maybe when it comes to putting on a show, they borrowed a lot of ideas from KISS and Alice Cooper, by making it an audible experience as well as a visual experience. But there are some thinking mans heavy bands that I think are equal if not more talented in some areas like Isis, Helmet, Living Syndication, Kyuss (who influenced Tool back in the day) and APC too. Those grunge bands you listed are amazing too, but yes I do find Nirvana really overrated.

  • @PALTOOL1111 you said "musically and lyrically" and i would like to add "spiritually" ;P

  • @PALTOOL1111 I agree with them being the Pink Floyd of our time, except more dark and heavy rather than psychadelic. I wouldn't say they were the Zeppelin though, zep played a different sound, and I would say achieved a higher status than Tool has. Alice in Chains, Nirvana and Soundgarden are all good bands in their own respects so it's ridiculous to say that Tool are better or worse.

  • i love the verse

    So crucify the ego

    Before it's far too late

To leave behind this place so

    Negative and blind and cynical

And you will come to find

That we are all one mind

    Capable of all that's

    Imagined and all conceivable

Tool is like if one of the big bands (alice in chains, nirvana, soundgarden,) had gone on. the are talent at its fullest.

  • These guys are true artists

  • such an intensely introspective song.

  • Comment removed

  • one of the greatest albums ever written. this is true music.

  • Beyond music. :)

  • @thejokesonyou16

agreed, i think every tool album brings something special on its own. but there is no doubt in my mind that Lateralus is their absolute BEST album. there is so much more to it than meets the ears =)

  • @JackTheAce1 yeah definately, just like all of their albums. I think this album is their best because the topic of transcendance is very prudent for this age and worked perfectly for Tool and their vision and already transcendant sound.
