I take BJJ myself and so I know that BJJ has a lot of similarities with other grappling techniques such as wrestling and etc. Its wrong to say that one is better than another. And I can also argue that the gracie's dedicated GENERATIONS to prize fighting, so if they dont produce good results, then it would be a embarrassment.

my opinion remanis: bjj had proven itself before sakuraba vs gracie and now BJJ is greater than the the Gracie name.

@DrAndreiPopescu Well to be honest, it is not superior because it shares the same principles and technique as judo, wrestling and etc. I dont see how you can call one style superior if it has it flaws that sakuraba was able to capitalize on. Believe me, I like BJJ and i think it is an efficient style but I dont believe in one style is better than another. It has its flaws just like any other styles.

@jerrywu78 at the level of SAKURABA vs GRACIE it really isn't about style vs style anymore, as those fighters are really experienced with multiple fighting styles, be they grappling or otherwise. therefore sakuraba didn't "capitalize" on bjj's weaknesses but rather on royce's, don't u think ?

and I think that BJJ isn't superior cuz of what it has in common with the other styles, but rather cuz it carries on from where those styles, efficient as they are, left off, u catch my drift ?

But what Im saying is that, you cant call anything superior if it takes from other styles. It just doesnt seem right. Of course I would say BJJ is more efficient and more practical, but calling it superior would seem wrong because it did originate from Judokas.

To those who think jiu jitsu is taken from judo..well i judo dere are legs locks, but they do not have omoplata's or the gogoplata. which is a unique way of setting submissions. Gracie jiu jitsu in my opinion is probly by far the best submission style ever or ever will be.
